Steam Machine pricing announced (from $1049-$1428 USD), reservation lists open

You say "skill" but I would argue that personal motivation and interest plays an important factor.

When it comes to different things like fixing your car, cooking your food or cutting your hair, you have the option between saving money by doing it yourself or pay someone to do it for you.

Personally, I'm fine with building my own computer and I cook my own food, but I get a mechanic to fix my car and a hairdresser to cut my hair. I could definitely see the appeal for someone to get a "ready to go"-system instead of putting time and effort into picking components and building and maintaining their own custom PC.

Ignorance is bliss

My account was shut down without notice a few weeks ago. The server providing my account shut down. All comments, saved links and history was gone.

How do you explain this to a non-technical user while reassuring that this is a great system?

new hat just dropped

You have big red MAGA-letters and a smaller explanation under. For 90% of people seeing you in this hat, the reading will stop after "MAGA", making your own like-minded people frown at you.

Democrats political messages is generally too complicated for the general public. Messages with a plot twist or convoluted content is way too common. Instead, just make the message short, simple and unmistakeable: "Trump is pedo".

Points in Time

I really don't like these. It's binary for each digit, so it's really just a bad proxy for decimal numbers rather than being clean binary numbers. If it were roman numerals, I feel like it would be equally silly to separate the numbers this way: 15:39 -> I, V : III, IX.

I understand that it makes it hard to read if the binary numbers go high, but that's why we don't use them like this.

Welcome to our town :) …now leave

I live in a tourist heavy place. My biggest issue is that the influx of tourists is seasonal. During the summer, the number of tourists brings the infrastructure to knees and shops, restaurants and cafés are uncomfortably full. During the off season, maintenance of the roads serms to be of low priority and a lot of the shops, restaurants and cafés reduce their opening time or even close, and the town center becomes a ghost town.

So no hate towards tourists, but the inconsistency of this place is very annoying.

Anytime someone announces their pregnancy, my mind quickly goes to "hah! I knew it! You were doing the sex!"

Same issue when we announced to my in-laws that my gf was pregnant. "Are they just now getting confirmation that our relationship hasn't just been an innocent friendship with an occasional pecking kiss?"

Tech CEOs Confused by Why Everybody Hates AI So Much

The integration of AI into regular, deterministic software bothers me a lot. As a developer, I want my IDE to be consistent so I can feel comfortable that autocompletion and other functions do what I expect. But recently, and at an accelerating rate, I find the IDE to make inconsistent autocompletions - often suggesting a lot more code, which often contains errors and non-existant references.

I could use AI every now and then for work, but I wish it only helped when I'm explicit about it. Currently, it kills workflow and sucks out energy both from me and the grid.

Just.....why?

I have one that is smart, and you are spot on. It was nice to use in the beginning to get an idea of what pressure is recommended and time spent on each section. But I have uninstalled and been running app free for several years now - with zero issues.

See their point

14 year old me listened to a lot of heavy metal variations along with emo rock and that kind of jazz. Now, as a 34 year old man, I still occasionally enjoy some of that, but my music taste has developed and matured, so now I mostly listen to girly pop music.
