Bitwarden Makes Change To Address Recent Open-Source Concerns
Cool.
I just started using Bitwarden almost a year now. I don't know how I lived without it before? It's nice to know I wont have to switch to something else.

I have hundreds of short form videos which are designed to uplift, encourage, and speak positively about mental health issues. I’ve had lots of people tell me that my videos in some small way encourage them to take the next step in their mental health.
In other words, it’s not the form of the video that matters, it’s the content.
As for the cost of the server, I think the videos will expire after a certain amount of time. Something like Snapchat.
The great thing about the Fediverse is that it offers options. Is this going to be exactly like TikTok? Of course not. Will it serve a purpose for some? Time will tell.

I’m kind of glad that it wasn’t a continuation. His story seemed just so complete to me. Anything else would’ve just kind of, diluted it.

I honestly don't think "education" is the key. It's been well established that people don't make decisions according to "the facts" as much as we do our emotions. You can't "convince" someone that they are wrong unless you give them an emotional carrot to lead them.
Give them the facts, but give them an emotional grounding to those facts. "This is your chance to make a fascists day shit." might work better then "You need to vote because of X,Y,Z."

That's exactly what we need.
We each get one vote, but together we get to keep democracy.

current PeerTube can't compete with YouTube
I think part of the problem is that you are doing what a lot of people naturally, but mistakenly, do. Compare it to YouTube.
PeerTube isn't trying to be YouTube. The only thing they have in common, is showing videos. That's it.
YouTube is a commercialized and corporate owned video aggregator that takes their users, changes them into commodities, and then monetizes the content from it's creators who are forced to follow the dictates of an algorithm if they wish to get a fraction of the value that they've put in.
PeerTube is a decentralized and federated video aggregator that is owned by the people. The users remain users and there is no monetization or algorithm which forces a user to follow. Any monetary compensation is strictly between the user and their audience.
The problem you're talking about isn't a problem with PeerTube, it's a problem with norms set by corporate entities. People hate to learn new ways of doing things. PeerTube isn't that hard to use once you understand the basics and how it integrates into the Fediverse. There's a reason that most PeerTube instances don't accept registrations from people who aren't creating videos. Aside from cutting down on spam and bad actors, there's really no need for it. Want to find a video? Do a Mastodon (or other Fedi service) search for the appropriate title or hashtag. Then you can follow the creator and get notifications. You can even comment and like and boost.
In other words, no one needs a PeerTube account unless they are making videos.
But that isn't the norm. YouTube is the norm and people mistakenly expect a YouTube like service. So when they see that things are different, their brain short circuits.
But unlike a lot of people, I don't see this as a problem. I think it's a feature.
The fact that it forces people to learn a new non corporate lead way of doing things opens up a world of benefits that non Fedi people can't even imagine. Choice? Control? They have no real understanding of what those things really are. And because they aren't willing to learn something new, they get upset and don't bother trying. Which is fine with me. Because it means every instance is filled with people who were willing to break out of the mold and learn something new. THAT'S a feature.
So yes, while PeerTube isn't perfect and still has bugs to work out, it's fairly good at what it's supposed to do. Which is to serve videos to the Fedi and not just PeerTube. Anything else you want it to do or be, is based on your own biases that you most likely picked up from corporate owned services.

I often get bored of the Fediverse, but I'm doing my best to stay here.
The Fedi is what you make of it. Since there's no algorithm telling you who to follow or pushing posts to your feed, it's up to you to curate who you follow.
My feed is a mixture of shit posts, memes, cats and dogs, flowers, a little politics and a little tech. Chaos is why I'm here and who I follow reflects that. If your feed is full of info you don't care about, then you're following the wrong people.

Loops finally sent out emails: I have early access
I've been testing it this morning. Obviously not a lot of content so I've been uploading some old content of my own.
It is VERY bare bones. Still needs a lot of work and effort. You can't even upload an avatar yet. And the character limit in your bio is only 80? Should be at least 250.
It's just going to take some patience. It's only (I think?) two people working on this? So development is going to be sloooooooooow.
Still, I think it's worth the effort. Alternatives to centralized apps are important. Social media deserves to be in the hands of the people and the more we can take away from centralized services, the better.

I only said "the left" instead of "the dems" to be more inclusive. If that was wrong, I apologize. My intent was not to "blame the left for liberal apathy" but to suggest we need to do more together.
And yes, I agree that liberals should embrace leftists more, they are the ones who are trying to stand up for the rights of others more then any group in my opinion.
So let me ask, what would you say is the best most actionable thing we can each do when it comes to safeguarding democracy this election? I mean that sincerely.

Do you believe in free will?
In a deterministic reality, where all things are due and subject to causation, there can be no free will. If we did not live in a causal reality, we'd never be able to make accurate predictions or models.
"Randomness" is not free will either. If you're not in complete control of your influences, then you can not be said to have free will. Randomness does nothing to help the argument for free will.
With that said. Regardless of the existence of free will, what does exists is your awareness of what it's like to be you. To be in the circumstances that currently govern your life. And in that awareness exists the boundless capacity for compassion. Once you understand that no one is in control of their lives, that all things are causal, it allows you to be less judgmental.
"If a man is crossing a river and an empty boat collides with his own skiff, he will not become angry. He will simply guide his boat around it.
But if he sees a person in the boat, he will shout at the other to steer clear. If the shout is not heard, and the boats collide, he will curse the other person.
Yet, if the boat were empty, he would not be angry."
— Chuang Tzu (Zhuangzi)
I wrote a simple explanation of determinism in a blog post earlier this year (there's an audio version available as well.) https://mrfunkedude.wordpress.com/2024/12/03/following-the-strings/
