I'm not sure if this is the right community, but just wanted to spark discussion and I love hearing people's different experiences

Inspired to ask because elsewhere I was telling a story about how I got invited to poker night at Jehovah's Witnesses one time, and none of it made any sense to me. First of all we were not supposed to be having a party and listening to music, nor gambling, nor drinking according to the rules of JW which were outwardly acknowledged.

But they had come up with all kinds of outs and justifications, and minor rule bendings to justify basically doing all of that. I'm sitting there like thanks for including me guys but this is just a weird scene.

You're all running off to the laundry room to make alcoholic drinks and coming back to mutually joke about how ya merely went to freshen your Kool-Aid. It was very mentally taxing

I've had a lot of fun making custom Bluetooth equipment for people. I've given a few old boomboxes new life and done some fun projects like turning old walkmans and packs of cigarettes into speakers.

Sometimes I can repurpose boards from discarded electronics, but the ones I've bought online always have some crappy English voice that says unnecessary phrases like "your device is connected" and "no devices connected" and "power off".

Frankly people have complained to me about the shitty digitized Chinese person speaking English every time they power on, and it bothers me too. And the thing is it's going to be playing at whatever volume setting the device was last at, which is often quite loud.

So does anybody have any experience here? I've had cheap ones from China that work great technically, but I can't deal with this voice anymore LOL

Are you aware of one with just harmony tones or chimes or something?

If I put them in the dryer they'll wear out quickly and then I'll have to buy more sweaters and I don't want to.

I've been a supporter going back years. Hell, I even bought the Reddit Boost knowing it would stop working, but just to support the dev.

But this app has more bugs than a termite mound, and I'm at the breaking point.

There are bugs that have been here for 2 YEARS that are still present.

Ok, maybe this side project isn't for this dev. I need an app that works.
