But why not use hangers?

I've fixed a long road to my ceiling only for drying clothes 👍

Yes, I feel like putting them on the floor somewhat negates the effect of washing them. I’m partial to a good drying rack, especially one where I can lay items flat.

Doubly so if it's winter time. We use wood heat and dry in no time, electric heat doesn't take much longer, plus it helps keep the humidity up.

Not OP, but sweaters often stretch when hung wet. I put mine on a towel on the bed or a table where/when the sun is shining in, and flip + move them after an hour or so. But I'm certainly no expert because I live in a warm dry place and hardly ever have to deal with sweaters.

Putting knitwear on a hanger will stretch it out, maybe even give it divots in the shoulders.

Sweatshirts are fine as they're woven but sweaters like OPs should be dried flat.

First thing I noticed, esp. in the kids' suitcase. I collect rocks, too. Just dull rocks.
