I think it's that you don't feel older mentally. I though I would feel a certain maturity once I reached an age where I had a solid, advancing career and owned a house. Turns out, I feel pretty much the same and am just better at dealing with things that arise and pretending that I'm mature. My body hurts more and my face looks older, but I don't feel all that different. I'm sure I've mentally changed to some extent, and I notice it more when I talk to younger people, but I still feel the same.

I didn't realize that I had stopped commenting altogether because the subs were so big that either no one saw your stuff, or there was always some one pissed off who felt the need to respond. I've never had unclaimed funds, but I have been the person who submits funds that have been unclaimed to the state. I work at a law firm that handles a lot of settlements, and sometimes, people are issued a large portion of the settlement while we wrap up a few other things on the case. Once those are taken care of, I reach out to our client to give them whatever funds remain.

But sometimes, I can't find that person no matter how hard I search. Sometimes, our client disagrees with the additional amount that they are receiving and refuses to cash their check. After a certain number of years, and after every possible attempt to give our client their money has been made, I have it sent to the state.

Dude, I get it, but as an atheist, it sucks to be lumped in like this. Most atheists don’t care that you practice your religion, and they are very respectful of it. Just because it’s not something I believe doesn’t mean I get to shit on other’s beliefs.

The atheists who act/think like this tend to be very new to it and are excited to show they are different or that they are actively rejecting the religion that they came from. Or, they are just a closed-minded person.

Most of us understand that it’s not a break; it’s a requirement of their religion. These people aren’t doing it to get out of work or to go have fun for a bit, and equality is not the same as equity. Some people need different things in the workplace and that’s fine. But, I know that there are a lot of atheists that are far too aggressive with their lack of belief.

I know you are already aware of most of this, but my overall point is that there are a lot of us atheists fighting for people to be able to practice their religions in and out of the workplace, and I’m sorry that you’ve only seen the shitty part of us.

The idea is not actually about a man's physical hands. It's a metaphor for putting in the work. That could be volunteering, going to bat for your community, spending quality time with your kids/grandkids/family, working long hours to make sure your family has what it needs to survive, etc.

Yes, some men do manual labor and have rough hands, but OP isn't saying that all men should do manual labor, just that they should all put in the "work" to make the world, their community, and their family's lives better.

A good chunk of a teacher's job is to build appropriate relationships with your students. Students don't want to learn from someone they dislike, and you have significantly better learning outcomes when the students feel safe, accepted, and cared about. Appropriate nicknames, like Tim for Timothy, help in that relationship building. I don't know what your position is at that school, but Wisconsin teachers are literally taught stuff like this in college so that we know how to manage a classroom with the best learning outcomes and the fewest number of behavioral disruptions. We are taught how to keep those relationships appropriate and healthy, although much of that is just common sense.

Yes, you should separate work and home life for both your own sanity and for modeling good boundaries and work-life balance. But that doesn't mean you have to drop your decency at the door. At the end of the day, the goal is learning, and not being a douche is one of the easiest ways to get to that goal.

Extracurricular activities are an extension of these same principles, not an exception or something with a different set of standards. I think you might be mixing up appropriate relationship building with inappropriate fraternizing, and I'm concerned that you are having difficulty finding that line.

I think it looks legit. I've had several different cheeses that look like this, especially aged ones. Usually, I don't buy that big of a chunk of the wheel, but it looks right to me.

As a woman who can't pee while standing, or at least in a way that prevents pee from getting everywhere, I very much appreciate my winter, indoor plumbing for the everyman and all the people who make it happen.
