There was also the PSX - a weird hybrid PS2 with a digital video recorder. Dunno why they kept trying this back then.

The prequel trilogy is like the original sin of 21st century cinema, spawning not only the era of online criticism as we took solace in our disappointment with each other, but also in how it really heralded the era of franchise film making where all decisions would be made by producers and no more offbeat creative choices by weirdy beardy directors (for better or for worse).

The attic in my house was full of mad stuff by this guy and other weird sci-fi fantasy authors that my dad had stashed up there. Lord Of The Rings and Book Of The New Sun were good but it was a long way down from there.

US Army attack helicopters crashing at historically high rate amid mechanical issues
Genuinely the recent sci-fi trope where the current wave of human civilisation simply sputters to a halt because all the technology is too complicated and unrepairable with built-in obsolescence and all operational knowledge tied up within itself

The whole discourse over chilli heat is so moribund. Just eat stuff you like the flavour of, or eat stuff that makes your pain receptors go off if that’s what you like - it’s all fine.
