I mentioned this one last week because nobody likes a surprise $40 hardcover, but this bears repeating:

X-Men: Elsewhen (Volume 1 of 3) (Hardcover) - Abrams Books

This might be hard to find because it's coming from Abrams and not Marvel and it's a $40 hardcover...

John Byrne had an ICONIC run on X-Men from #108 to #143, nearly 3 years. During that time he drew the introduction of Alpha Flight, the Proteus story arc, the Hellfire Club and Dark Phoenix as well as the two-part Days of Future Past.

It turns out, after he left the book, he kept going! Unable to let the characters go, and these stories have remained unpublished FOR 45 YEARS(!)

Abrams has now completed the work as finished graphic novels and is publishing them as a 3 volume set!

I ordered a few days after this was announced, have yet to read it as ive got other things going at the moment, but I look forward to it

Almost forgot what day it was!

Concrete Stars Over Sand #1 (Of 5) - Oh, man, Dark Horse is bringing back Concrete!

Back in the day, when Dark Horse was first getting started, they were known for Alien, Dark Horse Presents, Boris the Bear... and Concrete!

Ron Lithgow was an ordinary guy who was kidnapped by aliens and had his mind transplanted into a stony concrete body. Think "Thing" but less orange.

The book is almost meditative. He's not out superheroing, he's just trying to live his new life... in a concrete body.

Ok, so this idea actually can't happen, but just imagine the possibilities.

I want to travel back to 2002 when they were making the Sam Raimi Spiderman movies. I want to take the cast they had working the Daily Bugle. I want them to star in a sitcom that is shot like The Office. The entire show takes place inside the Daily Bugle, with J Jonah Jameson basically having the Micheal Scott role. Except in the J Jonah Jameson style.

And since you only ever get to see/hear from 3-4 people besides Jameson, I figure you could fill out the cast with entirely new characters made just for this show.

No....I didn't just think this up as an excuse to get more Betty Brant/Peter Parker interactions. I also really like the actor who played J Jonah Jameson in those movies. Really nailed the role.

OH! And I guess Eddie Brock will eventually show up as a freelance photographer you see every few episodes, but just in quick scenes. Which, unfortunately would mean Topher Grace. Always hated that casting call. He would have made a GREAT Spiderman. Terrible Eddie Brock/Venom.

Well, now I'm just ranting I suppose.
