Scientists develop game-changing vaccine against Lyme disease ticks

This feels oddly fake. No journal of that name, nothing on INRAE (the research institute claimed to have published this). AI generated news? I wouldn't doubt it. I know that Chat-GPT is very good at making fake scientific summaries (complete with fake references using real names in the field) why not fake science news? Also, the vaccine is for the tick.. Not for us to use against the tick. For the tick..

I culture cells for a living. Not that these are the only ways, but the most common and effective ways to grow cells in the lab is to add either FBS (fetal bovine serum) or BSA (bovine serum albumin) to the culture media. Currently we don't mass produce BSA in an animal free manner and FBS is by nature an animal product. Granted, that the products of one animal may in fact allow manufacturers produce more than enough 'animal-free meat' to overcome this but I haven't seen any numbers. I'm interested in hearing more about these techniques going forward and in determining if animal-free products can really be produced animal free.

Young Americans blame SCOTUS, GOP for unforgiven student loan debt

While these groups are the culprit during this round, the entirely of the US government and the post secondary educational system is truly to blame. Universities have been peddling an overpriced ware to under informed children and their parents for decades. Terrifying then with the fear of losing ground in middle America while offering a product with ever decreasing value for ever increasing cost, partly because of student loans. The government has then enabled greater and greater burden upon these children and their parents by allowing special loans to groups who should never have had them, by protecting those loans from bankruptcy and by making $$ from baking interest as these groups struggled to pay. It's a travesty. It should never have happened. Education should be free for all.

[db0] Reddit is a dead site running

Reddit might go on for a number of years. Maybe with a continually decreasing amount of users, engagement and value, but until the fediverse is able to accumulate the knowledge base contained on Reddit, it will still be my primary knowledge base. I cannot wait for the day when I can scrub ' Site : reddit.com' from my Google search bar. Edit:spelling errors
