r/Piracy probably needs a rethink

People fail to understand this. Mods should have just abandoned it, pointing users towards the next new thing. Heck, the only reason I'm using Lemmy right now is due to the Melem iOS beta app, practically a carbon copy of Apollo, and because people have already congregated here. Force isn't the solution, guiding people is. And we mustn't forget, piracy never involved obeying rules.

A rather unfortunate truth

That’s how all new social media platforms start; you can’t expect the same level of engagement as already established platforms. What needs to be done is to reduce the barrier of entry as much as possible. For me, as an Apollo migrant, when I arrived, I simply looked for something familiar, something I could call home, and that was the carbon copy of Apollo, WefWef. In my mind, I’ve never left Reddit because Lemmy is the new Reddit, with the same interface and everything. Frankly, Reddit was at its best from 2013 to 2015, when users were more expressive about sharing their ideas and experiences. That’s where Lemmy is headed; the platform just received an influx of users, and communities are growing as we speak. I suggest giving it some time because, from the looks of it, the platform has just started.

Lemmy is not immune to trolls, bad fait actors or propaganda - in fact, despite how bad reddit is, a lot of Lemmy instances are worse

2 months ago I had my main Reddit account banned because I reported someone for inciting violence. They literally said word for word "they should just go into Gaza and kill them all, women, children, all deserve death after today." I reported him and went on about my day only to find that I was permanently banned from Reddit, no appeals work and this on r/WorldNews not some weird niche subreddit.

Fans of Apollo, give wefwef.app a try

It's the one true successor to Apollo, and I say that because it's an identical copy. I'm just worried that the developer might drop dead at any second now. Bloke has been throwing updates at us right, left and centre. And he's also pretty active, commenting here and there. Mate got me worried.
