The best Lemmy app so far is "Wefwef" hands down. If you loved Apollo you'd love this.
The app has an amazing experience so far, because it feels like I'm just using Apollo, heaps of baked in features that no other app has so far. It's a web app so installation is pretty forward. Much love to the Devs!
(Side note: please change the name to something better. I recommend the name Voyager to keep up with the theme)
Installation:
https://wefwef.app/settings/install
WefWef's community page: c/wefwef
Courtesy of [email protected] for telling us about it.
Update:
Having issues? It's to do with rate limitations, this should be resolved soon but right now you can Use:
https://w.opnxng.com/settings/install
Here's the Dev's notes on that:
w.opnxng.com - wefwef hosted by Opnxng in Singapore.

Note: Community deployments are NOT maintained by the wefwef team. They may not be synced with wefwef's source code. Please do your own research about the host servers before using them.
EDIT: This is now resolved, because @[email protected] is awesome.
hi! wefwef dev here.
https://wefwef.app is getting rate limited by lemmy.world. The growth in traffic over the last 24 hours has been incredible.
That's why you're probably getting error messages. Hang in there, we're working it out. :-)
In the meantime, self host (it's just a simple docker container!) or use a community deployment (if you trust the administrator).
hi! lemmyworld admin here.
If I did it right, wefwef.app should no longer be rate-limited. Please let me know if it worked.
You rock! 🤘
Like a charm!
I've noticed a lot fewer errors now. Thank you
Contrast this interaction with the spaz/Christian public dust-ups, and let’s all feel fortunate to be here. Thanks to both of you devs for making cool stuff.
Ur both amazing!
Ruud to the rescue!
Your app is really good. Well done!
Its not only miles better than the default mobile experience on Lemmy, it is also has features like swiping that I have never seen used on a web app before.
Do you have some kind of roadmap of features that will be added?
Some things I think would add to the experience are:
Just the GitHub issues atm. Thing have kinda exploded over the last 48 hours so still playing catch-up. That being said, feel free to search through and create issues!
OK great, thank you;
App looks great so far!
Will it have auto marking posts as read just by scrolling past them? No other apps do this yet…it was Apollos best feature!
Also no dark mode?!
Installing it via saving to the iPhones Home Screen…..how do we update an app like this? Never done that before 😄
I’m using it in dark mode right now.
Updates are in the settings menu.
It's a web app, it updates automatically behind the scenes
What an honour, fantastic app btw, it takes after the best after all. But I'm getting flashbacks with the rate limit thing, it's this going to be a problem like Reddit or what's going on?
This is an excellent web app! Thank you!!
What’s the long term plan? Everyone hosts their own instance in Docker? I was thinking about using AWS container instances. I wonder how I would protect my publicly available interface though. I want to be able to access it from anywhere without vpn or firewall limitations. Do you have any good suggestion?
The long term plan is Lemmy to allow CORS * for web clients like Mastodon does, which should completely resolve this problem. :)
It should be in the next version! See: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3109
This is awesome. Thank you for the amazing project. Feels way more responsive than even the various apps floating around. Exciting stuff!
Is it possible to add haptics to a web app like Wefwef?
Yes, if it eventually get bundled into in actual app store app with Capacitor. Which might be in the future.
Or if Apple provides a haptic API for web apps. That would be wonderful.
I like Memmy, but Wefwef is great too!
Memmy is great, and I will probably switch to it once they get some bugs worked out.
Which bugs are you seeing? We’re getting updates sometimes multiple times a day, so they may be fixed already.
I’ve noticed a little jank sometimes when collapsing comments, also the save photo feature seems to fail periodically. But it’s getting better literally every day, I’m excited to see how it grows
Apollo just died, deleted app and now I’m here. Goodbye Reddit
6+ year Apollo user here and I tried a bunch of apps prior to this one that just didn’t quite have the UI and features I was looking for. If you used Apollo, you’ll feel 100% at home on WefWef; it’s almost identical.
Weird name but it’s really an amazing app, it was the final thing to click and made lemmy a full Reddit replacement for me.
Whoa. I’ve been using Memmy lately but this one is like a carbon copy of Apollo. Will there be the feature to see saved posts soon?
Yes
You already can
feels weird having an iOS centric UI on android but I'm loving it so far
it even respects my phone's dark mode!
On Android as well, this feels better than a lot of native apps. I really missed Apollo after switching to Android and this project makes me happy.
if you installed wefwef from chrome yeah, but if you installed this app from Firefox, you're going to have a bad time, it was so slow and unresponsive on Firefox for me lol
The only issue I have so far is if my phone kills FireFox the PWA crashes until you open Firefox separately. Otherwise it's very stable.
Yes I have the same experience. And on Kiwi, it can't detect the OS theme.
i found out that it depends on your browsers settings, google chrome apparently has a thing where it would enable a website’s dark mode if your system has it on, Samsung Internet requires you to enable “Use website dark theme” in labs to have wefwef (or technically samsung internet) automatically detect system dark mode
I'd have love to have something like this for Reddit back in the days.
One of Us! One of Us!
haha I do already have an iPhone though, I'm just more comfortable on Android
Edit title: Best Lemmy app*
You can edit titles on Lemmy 👍
Done. Still Reddit mentality.
That's ripe for abuse though.
Swipe a little to the right to vote up.
Swipe a lot to the right to vote down.
Swipe to the left to delete.
Just saved this to my home screen, am I right in saying that it's just a webapp and not a full blown app? Seems to work fine so far!
It’s absolutely amazing. The thing I’m missing the most though is to be able to customize gestures/swiping like on Apollo. I’m so used to upvoting/downvoting by swiping left, and going back one page by swiping right, from wherever I swipe (on Apollo I only reply by long pressing a comment).
The developer is aiming for Apollo feature parity, so it should be coming :)
The Thunder app has those features FYI!
Agree. Really missing the gestures.
I agree with all the things you said. Including changing this weird name.
It is weird. I don't even order McNuggets to avoid sounding silly.
F
How did they nail the Apollo look and feel in a web app? Incredible. Been on the Mlem testflight but this is just soooo familiar. I hope this gets an official app on the app store!
based on their github page they seem to really be a proponent of progressive web apps, so there might not be an official app anytime soon.
its really great though and I can barely tell it's not a native app
It’s so weird how eerily similar it is to Apollo haha, but I’m more than happy to use it. I’m using Memmy at the moment, first day using Lemmy!
This is astoundingly good. Like, I didn't know webapps could be this nice. It's kind of amazing.
You weren’t kidding. This is amazing!
Just installed it to my Home Screen. Acts just like an app. I’m new to these web app type things and spaced instances, but baby steps.
This already seems a lot better than Reddit.
Thunder and Memmy both have swipe interactions as well and they’re not web apps.
This is so fantastic, it really does have that Apollo feel. I had my doubts with it being a webapp, but it's so comfortable and familiar, I've switched to it....despite the name, heh
Ya the names are a bit weird in this part of town. But luckily we can rename it 😂
It sits in the same spot as Apollo used to, so why shouldn't I rename it?! (Bilbo meme)
Man, this is instantly better. Just wish the text editor had better support for markdown
Best web app I’ve ever seen. Thank you!
omg it's Apollo! (without keyboard shortcuts)
TIL Apollo had keyboard shortcuts
I agree, I just wish it ran smoother and was more reliable. I'm experiencing a lot of "failed to load", "failed to upvote", and "failed to comment". A community you can't engage with is no community at all.
Yes. I can't use it since I got on the first time. I'm figuring it is volume and come back later.
Yeah, hug of death!
+1 for Voyager!
Just downloaded it because of this post and I gotta say, it's fucking brilliant.
Honestly impressive
I love it! The Lemmy web interface was acting a bit wonky at times, this is a great improvement.
These comments really make my day. Hope you'd love it as much as I do. The whole thing is open source, so if you're not code illiterate like me see if you can give the devs a helping hand.
Just stumbled upon this app a couple of hours ago and….. holy shit it’s just like Apollo! Excellent stuff.
Wow nice! I just replaced the Apollo icon on my Home Screen with this.
Looks great and feels like Apollo!
I’m so confused. How can it be so rich without being a full blown app? I have been enjoying Memmy, but can’t really find what separates the two.
Lots of improvements to web app support in the past few years have largely gone unnoticed since, overall, not much effort really goes into deploying proper web apps. Installing an app from the App Store is also simpler then “installing” a web app. I personally prefer native.
I share the same shock over Wefwef though, blows me away is an incredibly strong example of what web apps can now do. It’s still missing a number of things from Apollo, but that it seemingly came together as polished as it is now in just a week or three is stunning.
I actually have the exact same question, I wasn't expecting much especially since it is a webapp. Heck I was expecting to install and uninstall in a sec. But this thing is solid.
So when I login to an instance, am I sending my credentials through the wefwef.app server? Because that makes me nervous.
No you’re not. You can view the source code, it’s open source.
Which is the best part imo. I wonder if this can be ported into an IPA in the future, it's stellar but not on par with native app performance imo.
And that’s the reason apps are still native. Anything that involves UI requires a lot of performance, especially nowadays with higher refresh rates. The whole point of SwiftUI (Apple’s new UI framework) is that it is both easier AND results in better performance when used correctly.
According to their privacy policy:
They say they don’t log but you do need to trust them because all traffic flows through them.
It really does feel like I'm using Apollo!
Incredible app! Never realized a web app could be so sexy.
I take back what I said about the Sweet Solution being a failure. Wefwef feels just as good as a native app. I may have to fire it up on a HP TouchPad or Palm Prē.
Very Apollo like. Lightweight. As mentioned in above comment, I am also wondering about the username and password but I am not a code reader so I will trust the community to confirm.
I'm using it now and I must say I'm damned impressed. It's so seamless. Drastically improved user experience. Not quite what I was used to (sync) but I can get used it. Feels intuitive!
Really liking it so far. It’s super impressive how much it’s eased my migration from Reddit. I feel right at home here already. Almost!
i'm writing this from the app. it looks and feels like apollo, so this is amazing. i really look forward to further development!
Oh my god, this looks incredible. Thanks for this!
Wow, now this is a reddit replacement! I love it. Thanks for the recommendation!
It is very smooth! Is this what Apollo looked like?
I was surprised to see all the auto-expanded images, but I guess I was expecting more of the old.reddit / reddit is fun aesthetic. So far, I've just been using the lemmy mobile site on firefox ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Apollo had lots of compact view options that wefwef doesn’t have yet.
It now has a compact mode, update your app!
Apollo gave the option to have condensed posts with smaller thumbnails or large images like wefwef has currently
Absolutely the closest thing to Apollo. Hoping all the customizations Apollo had come next!
I'm having trouble even logging in - it's saying my credentials are no good, but I used the same credentials to login to lemmy.world. Had a brief look at what it could be, so I'm waiting on it to get more stable.
Just installed it to my Home Screen. Acts just like an app. I’m new to these web app type things and spaced instances, but baby steps.
This already seems a lot better than Reddit.
Oh wow. This is really nice! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, installed. But still rooting for Memmy too! Love everyone who is stepping up to the plate for the mobile app scene!
I nearly cried when I saw the interface. I love the Squabbles community, but wefwef will make me a Lemmy user
Coming from RIF is there an Android app with a similar or next best UI?
So far seems like Jarboa, connect, and wefwef are the number one mobiles
One thing that bugs me, and I found the same with Thunder, is that I cannot sort posts by Top (Day, Week, etc.). Any reason why that is?
Not added yet in wefwef. It's already opened as an issue in the github though so it should be added later.
I'm blown away what a great experience this is for a web app. Really.
I'll be honest, I settled on using Jerboa after trying all other Android apps, I sincerely thought wefwef was iOS only. Oh boy was I wrong, it's hands down the best app of the bunch, and by really really far. I opened an issue today for compact mode and here it is, already!
If only there was a way to navigate top comments easily, that would be amazing!
You are a beautiful being.
I like it! I’m still trying to make sense of Lemmy and this app helps a lot. Thank you to everyone involved!
This is nice! my only suggestion would be the ability to minimize cards for a text feed, if that's something that's eventually possible.
I like how smooth wefwef is, but if I could keep everything from auto-expanding (i.e. just scrolling through titles instead) it'd be closer to the old.reddit / RiF experience 🙂
Just got updated with a compact view option. Screenshot:
There's a setting for this under "appearance"
Huh, I went straight to settings when I opened it but all I saw was text size. It has more options for you?
Hmmm. Mine has font size and post size settings, but I did the app install. On Android
You could try updating if you have it installed
Doesn't really work that well for me, doesn't show the icon on the app button, can't change appearance in settings Using it through Firefox, not sure if that's the problem
Might be worth giving it a try in Safari. Be sure to add it to your home screen because that adds additional functionality.
edit: Androids smh
On Android you need to access the page from Chrome I believe.
Oh really? That's annoying. I'll stay with Connect for Lemmy then
My bad, I am not an Android user so I just echoed what Android users have been saying, but here's a 25 seconds guide on how to install Webapps like this with Firefox.
Thankfully, that isn't true, and Android is still more open than Apple, even with everything Google's been doing.
Oh yeah this app is great. Good job, devs!
Apollo instantly crashes when I open it. Is there any way to get the Apollo json file export?
Wefwef supports importing it so you get subs of similar names
Where is all the nsfw stuff though
I put in a GitHub issue - this should be fixed next release which so far is happening once a day.
The dev responded and said looks like search was searching as "logged out" and lemmy hides NSFW when you're logged out.
Edit: actually, it's already fixed!
That's the eternal struggle, you need to find them and subscribe to them one by one.
This app is awesome, thanks for sharing! Congrats to the developer
I know this is an Apple sub, but is there an Android version? Checked the store and didn't see it, but not sure if it has to be sideloaded (which always seems sketchy if it is a legit app).
Wow! Really nice recommendation!!!! This is exactly what I was looking for to engage more with the Lemmy community
This is amazing. Using it in my iPad Mini right now!
How does it look like on iPad?
Indeed it's awesome, thank you!
What a beauty! You got me! BTW: The keyboard did not appeared when I wanted to write here. A reboot of the iPhone helped.
I use Memmy. I'm really liking it so far. Its not on the app store yet so you have to install it through TestFlight, go to the github on your phone, and then click the invite link. Isn't perfect but great so far
I missed my chance to download the JSON file on Apollo. Am I SOL?
iPhone 14 user here. Anyone else have trouble with the keyboard not coming up for login credentials? I also tried cut and paste function but my details aren’t recognised despite being 100% correct.
It’s a PWA issue that I’ve hit a few times. Only solution is to restart the phone.
Cheers. All fixes confirmed with restart. I’m up and running.
Same on Android
Totally agree. I never thought the best client would be a web app on my home screen, but here we are!
It's pretty good but so far, I prefer Connect for Lemmy. They are both close though.
I’m brand new to Lemmy but this looks great and makes me feel at home already! Thanks for the recommendation
Very nice. Thanks for the call-out!
I don't have an "add to home screen" like the instructions say to do.
Are you using Safari? It’s not an option on Chrome, which is what I normally use so I had to switch over to Safari.
From there, in the toolbar you’ll see the “share” icon (box with arrow pointing up), then you should see “add to home screen” as one of the options when you scroll down a little.
Hope this helps!
On Chrome you hit the Share icon, then scroll down to Add to Home Screen.
I might be completely missing it but I don’t see the option in chrome or firefox on iPhone. Regardless, I don’t use safari for anything else. When you add it to your home screen via safari it looks and feels like a native app.
Weird, the link was opening in Safari, which did not have the option. I copied it and opened it in Chrome and then I did have the "add to home screen" option.
Safari didn't work, but Chrome did.
On Chrome there is an install option in the main menu
If I didn’t know any better, I’d say this just is Apollo, but pulling from a different API.
It looks great but I’m getting so many errors on it. Error loading posts, error voting, error opening messages…
Deb replied here, not his fault as Lemmy is rate limiting the app. Goes to show how popular this is.
Thanks for the post. Installed to Home Screen on iPhone. Working nicely to start. Looks good.
If you're loving wefwef because of it's Apollo likeness, then you need to checkout Memmy
It actually introduces all the features Apollo had with native haptics, slide interactions and navigations, push notifications, and more. The developers have been working hard and pushing releases daily (sometimes multiple per day).
As an Apollo users for the last 6 years, Memmy has been by far the best iOS app for Lemmy that I have tried (which have been Mlem, Thunder, Liftoff (prev. known as Limbo)
Yeah but it doesn’t look as close to Apollo as wefwef. It also doesn’t work as well on iPad, whereas wefwef has just nailed the aesthetic of Apollo right away.
Recent update changed the bottom nav up, but otherwise is pretty similar
vs
Giving this a go, and enjoying it so far.
Absolutely. If it just simplified the sign up by randomly choosing a non controversial instance to register on (vlemmy.net, reddthat.com, lemm.ee etc), it'd already be recommendable to non-lemmy users.
beehaw.org is too controlling, lemmy.world is overloaded and blocked by beehaw, and lemmy.ml is having trouble federating with kbin. I'm sure these will be addressed later and they're all still usable... but yeah
Also, +1 to Voyager, wefwef does not go down well with non-lemmings
Is being overloaded a problem? I am on lemmy.world and I appreciate being on a place with more people in it.
It's having some federation issues; some posts don't show in other instances, or show up much later than normal
It also hasn't been able to update to 1.18 like alot of instances already have.
I've not tried it (and I'm on android), but just gotta mention: pretty cool that we're all in a spot to discuss/rate/complain about/debate so many different apps for Lemmy now.
Been trying out Lemmy and have been looking for a good Apolo Alternative. I joined on lemmy.world, but pretty much any 3rd party app will just return "Record not found" or "User Not Found" or "Something went wrong"
Would this be due to lemmy.world's update to 1.18? or have I done something wrong?
Swiping right a little will downvote, swiping right more will upvote. Swiping left a little will hide a comment, swiping left more will reply to a comment.
Not the most intuitive tbh, but I’m getting used to it.
I got upvote and downvote mixed up in my above comment, still don’t know how to edit lol.
Editing coming!
Edit: First…
You’re a legend, thank you!
It uses swipe gestures. Swipe to the left to reply (you have to go far left, there's two levels of swipe. Level 1 is collapse, level 2 is reply.
For downvote you just swipe right to level 2
trying it out now. so far liking the design. does feel like apollo/iOS.
This seems very clever, imagine that all instance do that, it would be like the spiritual successor of Apollo in all its brightness.
I see your instance has your Lemmy instance preconfigured. I tried doing that with environment variable but mine was not showing. Got any advise?
Weird swear I did that and it populates the standard list... Maybe I did a typo and missed it haha
Found the reason. I was using the right variable CUSTOM_LEMMY_SERVERS, but after reviewing the code I found that it requires at least 2 servers since it splits into an array and expects to be an array. Opened an issue in it too since it should support a single server.
Is there a way to hide read posts?
To my understanding features are being built-in by the hour, just yesterday you couldn't edit comments, now a host of options are there editing included. Give this app some time and it should have feature parity with Apollo. Meanwhile if you're capable of lending a helping hand to the Devs you can head to WefWef's GitHub page and see if you can make it better!
It feels so weird iOS interface but a PWA, I’m a fellow Memmy user
It's indeed a great app! Impressive!
It’d be great if I could login. It keeps saying I have the wrong password, but I copied right from LastPass like I do here lol.
I just clicked login a few more times and it eventually worked without changing anything.
Was having the same issue. I had to close/swipe away the app and reopen, it worked after that
Just joined and downloaded. This is a great app!
Yooo that’s amazing. I was using Memmy but I’ll switch over to wefwef. It looks just like Apollo!
Love it for now. Hopefully Apollo joins Lemmy. Is there a similar UI theme for Desktop?
sucks that it downs to woe half the time.
Can’t upvote this fast enough! Hands down best lemmy experience so far. Will be hard to beat.
I never used Apollo, but I love wefwef (and the name is great, don't change a thing ;)
Thank you! Looks good!
Bumped into this app yesterday and it’s so user friendly! Can’t wait for more features to be added.
This is an awesome app, thanks!
Wefwef is gorgeous for sure and eerily familiar to ex Apollo users. It does show the red error message a lot though. It even said my user doesn’t exist when I logged in, but somehow I am still logged in. And it only lets me upvote every second click. We’ll see if it lets me post this.
But visually it’s a pretty stellar effort.
I've never used Apollo and I'm mostly using kbin. However I heard of wefwef like half and hour ago, decided to check it out cus why not and damn, it's so so good!
I was using the official Reddit app (or the desktop site) and in all honesty I didn't think it was too bad, probably because I just got used to it and didn't use any other app as a comparison, but after using wefwef for not even an hour, I can absolutely say I was missing out.
Sadly right now it is having some issues with fetching messages, posts, Etc. It's been working butter smooth all day otherwise.
Looks amazing, very close to apollo
Spread the word!
This app is great. Thanks for pointing it out.
Are there any other PWAs or iPhone App Store apps worth checking out?
Edit: actually it’s broken I can’t comment from it. The iOS keyboard doesn’t open when opening the form to comment.
Edit2: it was fixed today!
There are a few iOS apps in alpha testing right now, I’m testing Thunder and Mlem currently, but they aren’t very stable or feature-rich yet.
Within a couple weeks they should hopefully be released. There’s also threads about the Lemmy apps currently in development for android and iOS, and I believe the list includes PWAs? Unfortunately I’m not really sure how to find/link that post, but if you search for “Lemmy app” it should hopefully come up.
Apparently it wasn't broken, it's just due to the popularity it was rate limited for a bit. All is good now.
That's a bit interesting. What device are you using?
Commenting this from wefwef on iOS. Keyboard works for me.
Have couple of questions if someone can answer. I went to search for "television" community and found one with more subscribers and nothing after the word "television" and also saw one with very few subscribers and it had "television@something". So is it like we can have 2 communities with same name? How does one know which to subscribe to?
And this question is specific to wefwef app, I went to the television community page and everything there is big posts each occupying half of my page with a pic or something. How to have this more consice?
The one with nothing after it means it's hosted on the same instance you're on. Which to choose? Just go for the bigger one. It's like if you saw /r/Technology and /r/Tech on Reddit. Just choose the big one
Every lemmy instance can have its own communities, just subscribe to both of them or the more active one. the one without the @something is likely your local instances community. idk about the other question
Very impressed so far myself!
For me (iPhone 12) The keyboard works in the web interface but not in the installed app. The cursor is there and the grey bar with the “Done” button, but no keyboard below that.
Scratch that - restarting my phone fixed it.
This app is great!
It’s got some bugs, but I already prefer it over Mlem. Feels more like home…
So I’m weird and don’t actually have any apps on my Home Screen. I just use Spot Light and the the App Library screen. Is there anyway to get a web app to show up on the App Library? Because I don’t like how this one app is different from everything else on my phone and has to live on the Home Screen.
Other than that, I agree! It’s a pretty sweet app this far.
Use a Siri shortcut to make a device profile PWA. Then you should be able to.
Add the web app to a second Home Screen then hide the Home Screen.
Had to do the same workaround for stadia a few years ago
definitely would use it if it wasn't a web app. still amazingly good for a web app though!
This looks great! Keep up the amazing work.
Is there actually an app or is this all web based? I can't figure it out.
It is completely web based. But if you bookmark it to the desktop it runs like an app even having an update to new release button in the settings to force the update of the javascript and stuff.
I works great I use it on my iPad and iPhone.
Its web based, but can be "installed" on both mobiles and desktop as a PWA which is Progressive Web App, essentially the same as using it in a browser but meant to function more like a "real" app
Are there any limitations to it being a PWA?
Looks like it's all wen based so pretty impressive if you ask me.
One suggestion for wefwef is to be able to browse all communities of the particular instance you’re logged in to, or even better, have a page of all instances and the communities they encompass
On the front page of wefwef you can choose to look at communities you are subscribed to, all federated communities, or “local” communities aka communities from the instance you are logged in on!
honestly, easier community discovery from both local and foreign instances is a huge need for lemmy in general
It already has this. Click the three bars at the top left, then click "Local".
macOS Sonoma's new feature to add sites as web apps to the dock works beautifully with wefwef.
https://i.imgur.com/ZLHPwky.png
It's to do with rate limitations, this should be resolved soon but right now you can use:
https://w.opnxng.com/settings/install
Here's the notes on that:
Great app, thank you for this !
For me, it’s failing trying to log into Lemmy.world
I'm on Lemmy.world it works just as well
I failed initially, but in my case it was because I hadn't verified my email yet.
Once I got that resolved, it's been smooth sailing #^-^#
I installed the app. But have a question. Before logging in, it asks me to select a server. Now I created my account on ".ml" domain so here too I had to selected that only because when I selected ".world", it told me invalid credentials. Is that expected behavior?
Yes, an account created on one instance (lemmy.ml) will not work on another instance (lemmy.world).
Thanks for the clarification. New to this website and app so still learning.
No worries!
To clarify a bit for you, since it was confusing for me... you have to sign in to whichever instance you registered on (.ml in your case). However, you can view and comment on content from any site that federates with lemmy.ml. So, for example, I'm registered through lemmy.world, but if I go to search and search for "gaming", communities for all instances are returned, at which point I can subscribe, read, and comment on them via my lemmy.world account. (perhaps a bad example since .ml is no longer federated with .world I think)
Looks like a sweet solution!
Liking this very much so far!
thanks for posting it, hand no idea this existed 🥰 only downside is having to switch account for certain actions, it would be cool to have everything in one place
Tried it out, but it kept saying my account didn't exist and couldn't fetch any posts, etc.
Deb replied here, apparently the app is getting rate limited so it's not really in their hands.
Really enjoying this one, thank you for the suggestion
Is this iOS only or is it available for Android? I can only seem to find connect on android
It's a PWA meaning you have to install it via wefwef.app
Just deleted Apollo, to say nothing of my Reddit account, and this is great! Kudos to the dev team! This could legitimately make Lemmy my new Reddit replacement, not just my ‘tapering off’ fix.
At the moment I agree. I have a couple of other iOS native apps but I keep coming back to wefwef. Also it runs better on my iPhone XS
Artemis looks promising though. Looking forward to it.
It doesn’t work on an XR. The interface is too tiny to click login unfortunately.
Using Wefwef right now until Sync becomes available
I have been using Memmy and trying Mlem, so far Memmy seems amazing with each days updates... it is insane how much it has improved just over the past 4-5 days..
Guess I'll try Wefwef too so I can compare each of them. :)
@Demigod787
I'm waiting for the option to block communities and people. then I will be able to happily use wefwef.
edit, I'm not against anybodeyor anything, but there are times that some entity gets spammy.
I couldn't agree more. Especially the ask instance is incredibly spammy.
Then you havent tried Memmy :)
Well crap…. Got to my Apollo too late. (For the export)
Wow it looks reaaaaally good. Doesn’t seem to be a dark mode though?!
Also, praying for marking posts as READ as we scroll past them. Best Apollo feature
I’m using it in dark mode right now, I think it goes off of whatever the system theme is when you install it as a web app.
Yeah my bad, has my phone in light mode! Looks so good.
Nope. Hangs up incessantly.
Cant seem to log into my account on it
Someone is actually building Infinity for everything
I wish there were a black theme but I like the app a lot
It respects system dark mode. Override option coming soon
This is a great app I opened it up and I'm blown away. Can I make a suggestion. Add classic view. Some of us don't like the images/thumbnails right in our face.
Thanks
This is fantastic!
I've been using Memmy as it is an actual app and not a web app, and it has a theme actually designed by Christian Selig, the developer of Apollo. Plus it allows logging in to any Lemmy instance and not just the most popular ones.
Is there no way to use it with a feddit.de account?
Just hit "login", then select "other" and put feddit.de in
There is - choose "other" and input "feddit.de" in the URL field. Then just fill in your feddit username and password.
Awesome, thank you! Posting this from the app.
Can you use this with kbin?
Yup, was just commenting there about AI generated content.
What did you need to do to login with kbin? I tried selecting "other" in the list of servers, and then entered "kbin.social" but got "Problem connecting to kbin.social. Please try again"
Should I have entered in something other than kbin.social?
I'm on Lemmy.world but I think you need to try again the app has been having errors and it just stopped.
I don’t think it works with kbin. I had to create a lemmy account for it.
How do I save an image from a post to my phone?
Ugh.
Web apps only work if you have a launcher that supports home screen icons. Not everyone does
So, no way of installing it for me, not straightforward 🤣
I dont get it why there is a c/proprietarysoftware aka [email protected] on a open source software like lemmy? I thought apple enthusiasts doesnt like open source at it is not safe?
Is life that one-sided to you? If you like blue, must you hate everything that's red? You can enjoy Apple's eco system while supporting open source and cheering for it, heck that's what I do, but I don't mind using products from walled gardens either.
walled gardens like adam and eve or what? With that Snake aka "Apple" in our case.
I love Apple stuff. And I do run some open-source software servers. You might know some.
iOS runs on Darwin which is open source and free
but apple ripped it out and made it closed.
What are you on about? The kernel source code can be found here.
Here you can find all of their open source releases.
And here you can find a list of open source projects they manage.
