This hits a little too close to home
Id just count my blessings that my parents can take care of themselves in retirement and beyond and not have to count on family to come in and take care of them, which is an unfortunate truth for a lot of families in the states.
I dont expect shit, and it almost seems morally bankrupt to expect a generational handout. You get something or you dont, thats life.

Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?
As featured in the picture, Reign of Fire. I had forgotten about it. I truly don't think there is a film out there that has represented dragons as I see them better.

While I mostly agree with you, I do think there are problematic things in this article that make Linus come off as disingenuous at best, especially seeing that he played the "I have 0 idea what I did wrong, I want to sue you but i wont" card.
As for the reciepts for lack of citations, while I think it's obvious that Steve is asking for citations and he shouldn't have to ask, it's always best to make your request explicit. It breeds animosity to have expectations and not state or ask them clearly. I could absolutely see someone being naive in these exchanges and thinking that Steve was reaching out not to get a citation but to fix future mistakes.
The worst thing about this bullshit though is the lmg clips video title. It's a serious allegation that Linus allegedly wants to resolve, but they cover it in cringe memery. And I say this as someone who watches LTT and not GN.
I think if Linus had just called out Steve's beef and publicly requested some forum to speak privately or publicly and sort out differences, that'd be one thing. But with the lmg clip title and the "want to sue, but I won't" bs, it all just seems kinda gross. I know that Linus may not be personally responsible for that, but the company uses his name, and he started it.

Still do. It's a paradox of sorts. They are required to log actions. You making a request and them filling the request is an action. If you didn't have any previous actions, now you do, and so they start a file on you.

It doesn't matter who you voted for, neither group is putting the effort needed to protest and shut what the government is doing down. All parties are culpable to what is going on.
Im no different, I'm also guilty of this, but I recognize I need to do more and I'm trying.
Feeling righteous and indignant on the internet moves progress backwards and allows the bots to win.

Agreed whole heartedly. Im a leftist through and through and It's the most important thing I challenge friends on. How much grace should be afforded to those who have illustrated a capacity for change?
We have to give people an achievable path forward, if we commit ourselves to condemnation then we condemn ourselves to failure.

Agreed but the problem with this is that it requires people to be ok with the idea that they are building something that they likely won't see. It's a difficult concept for most people to grapple with.

Those who left tech for greener pastures, what do you for work now? What was the transition like?
Ask me in 6 months. Got laid off in July. Severance runs till November. I'm not sweating it at the moment, and I'm enjoying the breath of air while I have it. Next month begins the search.
I've already told myself that I'm not going to break my back to get back into tech. And a couple of things that I think would be interesting to try.
