You can definitely lock down signup. I’m not sure if you can prevent users from making publicly-visible posts, though — I think they would have to remember to make posts followers-only.

[METAPOST] Lazy Feature Request
Dear Threadiverse devs,
We want collections, like mastodon has. We want to make multi-communities that gather communities into convenient bundles. We really do. I promise we will use them.
Love,

NWSL announces updates to competition rules
I don’t think of myself as a candidate for ![email protected] but now that I can get people kicked out of NWSL games…
Finally, the NWSL has updated its Fan Code of Conduct. The updated policy formally extends into digital and social spaces by including a new Digital Code of Conduct that outlines prohibited online behavior. This includes threats, harassment, discriminatory language, and abuse that is directed towards players, clubs, officials, and other fans.

Fired by Google for Creating the Google Workspace CLI
There is nothing worse you can do for your career than ship a feature your customers love that management doesn't want to support.

If we live in the simulation, the admin is probably playing as one of us
What if god was one of us? Just a slob like one of us? Drove a tie-dye microbus?

Private community here on the fediverse?
If you are looking for safety, your best bet (and I know this sounds bad but stick with me) is to go the Truth Social route and stand up a threadiverse instance and defederate from everyone. There really isn't privacy in fedi, but if you don't federate, it'll limit your exposure to only the admins of your instance.

Fifa leadership ‘overruled US-based staff’ opposing World Cup dynamic pricing
We've had dynamic pricing for club soccer in the US for a few years, so I'm not surprised the nonstop complaints from the fans were repeated by ussf.

Once upon a time, the joke was that fedi admins required you to remove your pants when summoned. I guess we really have gone mainstream.

97% Of American Soccer Fans Right Now
What is the 200,000 person country the US beat into the ground that none of us has ever heard of the video is referencing? Paraguay?
And yeah, the only reason I feel confident we'll hit the standard for success in CONCACAF (el quinto partido) is because there's an extra round in the knockouts. The first time we encounter a serious soccering nation, a lot of US bandwagoners are gonna see there's levels to this.

I'm not sure the fans have stomach for more expansion, given how little of our teams we recognize from season to season. I think you could probably handle the "too large to manage" problem by ending single entity, but it doesn't seem like ownership has much enthusiasm for that.

The French aristocrat and the all-American idiot: Henry v Lalas is the World Cup’s most compelling battle
Alexi keeps getting play on Fox because he is one of a very small number prominently pro-Trump voices in soccer. There are so many better commentators they could put in there who had great careers with the US and/or in the United States -- Ale Bedoya, Bill Hamid, Diego Valeri, heck I bet even Sam Mewis could learn the boys' names in time -- but they're not white republican men. Watching Telemundo is much more enjoyable.

In Endgame how come Ant-Man in his giant form just walk up to Thanos and kick him half-way across the planet?
The answer to all power scaling questions in comic books is: because the writer thought it'd make a better story.

Staggering amounts of fentanyl hit streets as the DEA watched and took no action, records show
I am cynical enough to believe that had fent caused fewer overdose deaths, the DEA would have been more enthusiastic about preventing its distribution and sale.
