USA: Slate's New Electric Truck Will Cost Slightly More Than $24,950

Reply in thread

There are tons of vehicles vehicles than can drive off road without 4WD. Most of Rally racing has been done with rear wheel drive vehicles, and they're actually racing, not just casually driving. The reason a truck might not be able to handle it is because trucks are actually not set up well for it, unless they're loaded. Like the comment above says, the weight distribution is bad for it, until you load the bed. This isn't true for an EV truck. The weight is further back, so the rear wheels won't lose traction as easily.

Anyone who thinks they need 4WD to off-road doesn't know what they're talking about. Can it help? Sure. Is it required? Far from it.

I don't disagree, but I feel like the actual Mr. Rogers probably created a lot of Anarchists on his own! I think everything he teaches is not just cohesive with, but runs parallel to, Anarchist teachings. Taking care of yourself and your community is the foundation of Anarchism. I don't know if being explicit would necessarily help, and it could push some people away from hearing the message.

He was too friendly with cops though.

Some Retailers Are Refusing to Sell GTA 6 Due to the Lack of a Disc

Reply in thread

I agree. The game themes are about making money through doing crimes. If the gameplay doesn't match that then they fucked up. It's one of the most trivial things to do with the design of the game, but they think telling players no ever is bad, so they hand everything to you. What's the point of the game then? I'm assuming the only reason this isn't the same for multiplayer is because then they couldn't sell you the solution.

Staggering amounts of fentanyl hit streets as the DEA watched and took no action, records show

Risky ≠ evil though. Yeah, some are easier to OD, and some are more addictive. People should be educated on the effects and dangers before using them. However, "hard drug" is used not as a term for danger, but a term for morality.

As for the gun thing, it's not really the same. The thing with guns is it posses a danger to others. Drugs (usually) only pose a danger to yourself. We evolved to use drugs. Using them in the proper way in the proper context should not be stigmatized or illegal. Obviously using them in a way that does put others at risk should be though, and heavily.

Inflation only goes one way because deflation isn't really good. It creates a situation where not spending money nets a return. Inflation means you need to spend or you lose value. The ideal is wages keep up with inflation (which they aren't).

Now, I don't really buy into the Keynesian economics idea like I used to, that forcing spending is a good thing for the economy. Yeah, it boosts economic activity, but does that net really help the average person or only the elites? However, I still think deflation, especially to any significant degree, is almost certainly bad. It would cripple economic activity, which would cost jobs, because the best thing you could do is spend as little as possible.

However, computer hardware prices aren't really inflation. They effect the measure of inflation, but they aren't caused by it. They're caused by incredible demand, and a lack of supply. There's some inflationary effect to it, but their price has increased far faster than the price of their inputs.

“Gaming is becoming unaffordable” — Xbox CEO says the industry has an accessibility crisis

Reply in thread

I don't disagree, when done poorly by industry giants. There are some smaller games that have done it well, as just a way to find development. It isn't purely bad, and in a world where things are this unaffordable it can be good to keep in mind. Ethical MTX can exist that don't ruin the experience. It just isn't what these massive companies want.

Something like the DRG founder's pack, for example, is pretty good, or the Stationeers DLCs, which add purely optional ways to play that change how things work, which is only really useful to experienced players.

Edit: You've gotta love the downvotes. What is bad about the DRG model, if you disagree. If you don't have an answer, why are you downvoting?

A quick and controversial argument in favor of MTX: MTX allows them to extract more money from those with excess, subsidizing the game for those who can't afford to pay as much. Sure, when it's done poorly it's horrible. It can be a good thing though, like a supporter edition bundle that gives you like an icon next to your name or something.

Budget management should still be the primary option. Does your game need to cost this much to make, such that you have to have insane revenue to make up for it? Could you make something cheaper that's just as good (if not better, as limitations are the mother of creativity, or however that phrase goes)?

The thing about drugs is, as far as I'm aware, the "hard drug" thing is bullshit, and it's part of the problem. We give drugs to kids all the time, in the form of caffeine. Most people have a caffeine dependance and at least casually use alcohol.

I dislike that we treat some drugs as evil, and others as part of our daily lives. The should all be handled with proper education and care. People should actually be made aware of what addiction feels like, and how to handle it. They should also be informed of what certain drugs feel like and have access to harm reduction techniques if needed.

Drugs aren't evil. They are often dangerous though. They have been a part of human culture for longer than we've been human. We should be free to use them if we choose, and this should be able to be done safely.

That's also assuming a data breach is required for it to be bad. What's to stop them from using this to tie a person to activity? Then it makes it really hard to view things your country/employer/etc might not want you to see, for fear that there will be consequences for it.

If it was just a magical switch, to ban people under a certain age from social media, I'd be for that probably. It isn't though. At best, there are consequences that effect everyone. At worst, this is a backdoor to push through internet tracking legislation.

Why choice of Linux distribution matters

Your choice of distro doesn't matter insofar as you can fix any issues you have with one, and it can be modified to work like any other.

Your choice of distro does matter in the fact that your time is limited and you probably don't want to spend days making your system work exactly like you want from a base point that was far away from that. You should choose a distro that minimizes the gap between what you want and what you get out of the box.

You just need to choose one that seems right, then you can make the modifications you need. Just make a choice though. It'll be fine if you just picked something that seems close enough.

With mods, anything is possible. I'm certain you can play as a cute anime girl if you really want to!

As for difficulty, it really isn't that bad. Don't buy the hype. It's only hard if you want it to be. Just don't slam your head into a wall until it breaks. That's not how you're supposed to play. Once you hit a point you struggle with, you're supposed to go level and get new gear. It'll be easier when you come back.

Ohio officer who fatally shot pregnant 21-year-old Ta’Kiya Young charged with murder

I don't understand how this justification holds any ground. Civilians, when applying stand your ground doctrine (assuming that applies in this state) can't out themselves in a position of danger and then claim self-defence. How does a cop get to use that excuse. If you stand in front of a car, whatever happens after is your fault. A civilian who pulls a gun a threatens someone, and stands in front of their car, does not have any legal standing to shoot them.
