Prediction vs Reality

Reply in thread

Lemmy users falling for the same logical fallacies they laugh at others for using challenge: impossible.

A single datapoint doesn't prove anything, but a pattern of change that can be proven to be influenced separately from typical weather variation does. Like it or not, it would also have to be proven that the pattern is being caused by something distinct from global climate patterns.

For the record, I firmly believe climate change is real, I just hate when people I agree with try using the same dumb arguments as the people I disagree with.

Some Retailers Are Refusing to Sell GTA 6 Due to the Lack of a Disc

It's interesting to watch the cycle of bullshit that happens around every hyped game.

Years up to the release, people are full of wild speculation, impossible expectations, and excitement.

Months up to the release, suddenly every piece of news is blown massively out of proportion. People are now extremely overreacting to every minor piece of news like it's going to end this game.

The internet is so boring when it comes to video games. Reviews have become useless because nothing is ever good enough. Online discourse is worthless because people are always focused on the weird parts of a game or it's release.

I am a 15-year-old girl. Let me show you the vile misogyny that confronts me on social media every day | Anonymous

I'm a whole cisgendered 30 year old male who games a bit too much, so I try to discourage misogynistic comments when they're made by people in games.

I think there's another layer to the misogyny where any form of "defending" women is seen as white-knighting or simping. You don't even have to be directly referring to comments about a specific person, but you'll still be labeled as a loser who likes women, for some reason.
