Chances are it will be the former. It's really sad but we just cannot realistically moderate without third-party apps. And with the way spez has been acting it's likely more mod tools/bots will be on the chopping block making our "jobs" many times harder. It's hard, it's sucks, I've been on reddit for some 12 years now (under various accounts). We love our communities but just can't operate this way. :(

It's at 70% reporting now. The AP called it saying it was impossible to switch to a yes given the districts reporting. The "no" still has a healthy lead at 57%. Pretty sure Ohio kicked the GOP right in the proverbial balls. Also, (at the moment) 2.3 MILLION voters turned out for an August special election with this being the only issue?!

I obviously don't speak for everybody but my Biden vote in 2020 was very much a not-Trump vote. And if Trump end up against Biden in 2024 I will make that same vote a second time. Like you said, I'll take a meh Biden over the crazies in the GQP.

Mod of /r/homeimprovement here. I don't know that "keep" is the right word but we have built an amazing community over the years. The API changes rubbed us all the wrong way (as we all mod from third-party apps) but what really clinched it was the utter abhorrent treatment of us after we shut down. We are still shut down, and reddit continues to actively threaten UNPAID VOLUNTEERS. The free content and moderation is literally the only thing keeping reddit relevant. We are actively going to force reddit to replace us or backtrack. It will likely be the former, but at least we have made them work for it. It's sad really...I love the community but I'm not going to continue to be free labor for a company that simply doesn't give a single shit about us or their users.

I can't even find that they are covering it at all, there is nothing on their front page about it.

If I was to make a list of companies you don't want to fuck with, the mouse would be by FAR at the top of that list. Their lawyers are ruthless and won't back down until victory.

Many utilities offer bill discounts if you install a thermostat they can control during peak events. Some even will install radio-contolled switches on water heaters. Electric utilities have a VERY strong incentive to try and shave peak load during high-demand events.

Source: I worked for an electric utility. We even took our buildings off the grid and ran on generator during peak-load events. It was cheaper to burn diesel then contribute to the load.

Coal can't be reused, created, or otherwise obtained outside of mining. Until we remove our dependency on coal, mining will continue.
