The most disappointing aspect of using AI on linux, to me, is that it sort of implies linux is now more comfortable with the "move fast and break things" -mindset, now caring more about "efficiency" and "speed" rather than integrity and quality.
That's really sad actually, i didn't think of that.
I only recently installed Linux for the first time on my HTPC last year and it was flawless at first. Last couple months I've noticed a handful of bugs and system hangs that never happened before. Anecdotal, I know, but it worries me as a novice. I built my home server on this machine specifically to avoid microslop...
I get random blackscreens with my OcuLink-connected Radeon GPU on the latest kernels...anecdotal evidence, too, but my slopcode senses are tingling. It worked really well on 6.x kernels last year.
Software will probably get worse, but very slowly. One little stab at a time until it becomes very noticeable.
I find this annoying where every regression now gets associated with "AI slop". I agree that genuine slop is bad. But Radeon regressions were pretty damn common pre-AI-slop too. My 6600M, my Vega iGPU and others all had regressions. And I've seen this pattern with everything else lately too, where even bugs that have existed for over a decade are associated with LLMs. Pointing things out specifically is important in these scenarios IMO. "This LLM-generated and claimed-to-be-human-reviewed patch caused this regression." That's much more useful than "slopcode senses" that people seem to be triggering in projects that have existed for so long. (I do get where you're coming from though...)
Open source is all about moving fast. Much, much more innovations happen in the oss space than in proprietary land.
Linux is a serious project.
As such, it has serious quality control.
Torvals already allowed AI-helped commits. And Linux didn't break over it.
Bad pull requests rutinely get thrown out. And unfortunately for thode categorically against AI as a thing that exists, AI use doesn't automatically make every PR bad. In the right hands it's a great tool with a lot of potential.
And if Torvalds feels Linux is a project too big to be brought down by an onslaught of bad PRs made by wannabe script kiddies, so be it.
If that does become a crippling problem, the policy can be undone as easily as it was made. If not, competent contributors are free to use AI responsibly as a tool and not a magic wand.
A hard "no AI anywhere in any way, shape or form" stance is like the ostrich digging its head into the ground. Not trying a softer approach beforehand which allows responsible use (may also mean using approved environmentally friendly setups and open-weight models) is a bad idea for everyone involved.
Technology moves forward and we as individuals can choose to move with it or not. That being said, the foss moral imperative is: democratize any tech you can. This is especially true of when it's a dangerous technology, which LLM-powered chatbots are.
If you instead move fast to burrow your head like an ostrich and deny the reality of the predator growing right beside you, the little lion cub that play hunted you just a while ago may very well soon grow into the lion that will devour you whole.
Its really sad, Linus used to be a champion of open source and now hes doing his best to ruin it.
You either die a hero...
Or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain
Yes, that is the second half of the quote Op didn't include. American?
What does being snarky at them achieve here? Why would it be bad, to write the continuation to that saying? Maybe someone now learned it. If it annoys you, just move on, no need to bring more negativity into the world.
Linus is a traitor to Open Source community. Using and promoting a tool created by stealing the works of thousands of developers, artists etc. He might be a good programmer but he is a fucking douchebag.
Even worse is, that he's inadequately helping capital, including Microsoft, in stripping the common man of their own computing, to rent it back to them.
I'm pissed at the AI companies for all kinds of things like hiking computer parts prices and the impending destruction of the economy when the
lieshype dies. But this is a weak ass argument. The guy who created the Linux kernel and git can absolutely get his head around Python. He's just allocating his time and energy toward kernel development rather than learning Python and rightly so. Besides, maybe he just hates the language. I know I do, but I started with Perl, so that shaped the way I like to work.
Throwing rocks from a glass house I see ;)
Perl has scope delimiters, so a sturdy glass house.
perl accepts perlin noise as valid perl programs so scope delimiters don't mean much.
I genuinely love the idea of the $1 after a match. It feels so natural in perl! So many things are text matching.
But! But! But!! Those $ variables are dynamic scoped! If you call a method and it matches stuff you lose the variables!
I'll bet there is a way around it. But it made me so sad.
Yes, regex handling in Perl is the smoothest I have ever seen, and it matched the first description I heard of perl as "the best tool for text processing". I have done big things with that.
My match scopes typically looked like so:
(not tested, just edited by hand to anonymise)
I think it came up more like
For me. I dunno. I was never good at perl. I just wanted to hack something together.
I did bigger parsing tools in perl, so I often matched a lot of expressions and needed them all in variables. Not only to save the $N variables, but also for code readability, I would then store the matches in proper variable names
So does Python /s
Just create a new file or a top level function
except that it breaks my debugging strategy, where I left-align debug code so I can easily spot it and remove it later.
This is such an ignorant thing to say. Python syntax is indeed simple and is taught in high schools, but neither means learning to program in Python is easy or doesn't take a lot of time.
But learning python is easy and takes no time for an experienced dev. The language is just shite.
He could get his head around python if he wanted to, that statement is laughable.
Sure. But that's like an English literature scholar deciding they want to write a pamphlet, but in French, despite knowing very little French -- so instead of learning French, or just writing the pamphlet in English, or asking someone who knows French to translate...they use AI to write the thing. That's really stupid.
Then he should have stuck to his lane.
Absolutely. If you don't have time to do anything else, just fucking stay away from it. Don't fucking pretend to contribute to an area, while in reality you're just polluting it and destroying the natural environment at the same time.
Thank you, @[email protected] ! ^^
I read it yesterday, but did't publish here considering someone else did already. Yet, apparently... you just did!
This is all... such a... dear... sorrow... no words may express it...
I've been in Linux for around 20 years now...
And this is freaking f... awful to see...
The thing is that these projects, as Linux, Aircrack, cryptography, exploits I've been into for many years... created by actual developers who learned, who managed... who achieved... had been inspiring me to also learn, to discover, to achieve...
Now? It starts to mean nothing.
Now, there's someone lazy who "achieved" something being lucky enough for their stupid prompt for a model to generate a desired output.
It's worth nothing. It's worthless.
The fact that once hackers/effortful/artists/people, now don't learn, don't discover, don't communicate, don't share, don't publish, don't think for fudge sake... with their head/mind on their shoulders atrophying... don't achieve, don't deserve their name mentioned since they didn't write it but their/vendor's models did...
This AI infestation? This ruins all of it, it overwrites the Git/human history with actual ingenious people leaving behind...
Devaluing everything...
Such a sorrowful time to live... and see/feel of this... with so many indifferent and careless people... who just need a result without any understanding and realization how it actually works or was derived...
I cannot still wrap that around my mind properly...
I try to think less about the history being obliterated, people getting forgotten, ingenious ideas devalued...
Yet, there's also "copyright":
How is that a copyright if this project was created by a machine/algorithm, not him?
How is that inhuman output worth a copyright that is supposed to be for humans only?
Just to clarify, I appreciate Linux and the Community for the ineffably magnificent history... the operating system, the freaking marvelous effort and love within all it... I've been literally living in Linux for decades or so, I adore working with Linux... being a developer in security and finance systems...
It's just... it's just... so much gets devalued and ruined... and faster, faster, faster!
Where the heck are we all so hurry at? Hello?! Anyone?!
You don't even get time to live this life already, and now with the history getting rewritten on our eyes, code written with no names on it, music slopped, "slop-articles" published, "artworks" set in video-games... everything with no soul no effort in it, nameless...
In the end, we do we. I've been making my life with the beliefs in the precious value of achievements of human lives, be it code, algorithm, music, artwork, art, human experience...
Creating exploits, findings holes, adjusting security, break unbreakable etc. these are all achievements and you live with them.
You then could remember, after 10 years or more, that You achieved it. It would give you strength to continue living, a purpose.
It's been giving me the purpose to continue living, too...
There are still Developers and Communities who still apply warmth to my heart... the Hope...
- NetBSD may have found a new role: The AI-free FOSS OS
Artists as the following video author though still give warmth to the heart... the dear hope... which is heartfelt, dear Soulfelt appreciated...

Thank you... very much... dear Developers, Artists, People... who still believe in the history, purpose, attitude, humane Art, the love...
Please do stay safe... and I wish you success, stability, and peace...
time to post this again:
a worthwhile read in regards to what pushing AI does to a contributor and a community:

This is a monumental marvel...
Of course, it all must always stay alive...
Thank you heartfelt...

yup, very much applies to AI too
Well said. I'm saving this comment for later.
I have lost my faith in Torvalds when he wrote this:
Taking bets now, how long until we get a Torvalds rant about too many brown people in the kernel developer community?
"When did my political project become so political?"
- Person who doesn't realize that literally everything is political
How long until he monetizes it in the biggest bait and switch attempt FOSS has ever seen?
Big corporations are already the ones paying his salaries, the biggest contributors to the Linux foundation, they have been steering it for a long time to focus on the server needs of Linux. I guess the Linux foundation stance on ai is there to guarantee the flow of money from those corporations doesn't dry-up.
Fuck I don't want to see that 😭
Yeah, that hurt... It's so easy to just NOT say that shit
I wouldn't worry about that.
It's kind of incredible to me that the dude that started this project would be so quick to allow it to become slopped.
I'm forced to use LLMs at work myself, but even I have projects that I'm unwilling to let them touch, and I'm talking about a personal text editor for fuck's sake, not something I've spent my whole life building and attached my name to.
So many people have become shameless garbage.
This exactly! I don't understand how one would let an LLM touch their passion projects. I don't mind someone quickly slopping together a little python script for something, but I would never let it touch my babies. It'd be like buying a self-assembling lego set. Sure the end result is the same, but is the end result why someone buys a lego set?
Linus on the Linux kernel (after writing a single python script w/ an LLM):
Linux maintainers stand on this is basically : our ai generate slop is good but yours is questionable
At what point should we start considering that the kernel maintainers and developers don't even understand what they are adding to the project ??
What I see in ai projects these days is huge commit size changes many files at once, where the people behind those commit don't have a single clue what is being added or changed.
Sad but predictable unfortunately, Linus should have left his role as head maintainer a long time ago, there are plenty of talented and experienced maintainers that could have taken up the torch, and the Linux foundation could have made sure it was ran democratically.
Linuses obsessive control over the kernel has been worrying for about a decade at this point.
Hopefully someone takes his advice as does a fork, just have to figure out what to call it.
Delinus Linux?
Need to find someone named Denis to make it, call it Denux
„The guy who runs the kernel couldn’t get his head around Python.“ What is that supposed to mean? Do they want to make the point, that Linus Torvalds is too stupid to learn python and therefore uses AI to do it? Because independent of one might think about the use of AI in the kernel, I don’t think that this is the case…
I think there are way better arguments against the use of AI in the kernel than personal attacks against Thorvalds.
I think it's referring to Linus using AI to develop a python GUI in January for a personal pet project (AudioNoise).
It was the beginning of this cognitive outsourcing that's led to him telling people with entirely legitimate concerns (e.g. that LLM output can't be copyrighted, so it can't be licensed as GPLv2) that he'd ignore them all and to "fork it or walk away", to people who have developed the kernel for many years of their lif.. To now - hiding LLM commits to obfuscate kernel commit info.
I respect and appreciate Linus, but the recent developments highlight a larger (and old) problem of Linux - a single point of failure in Linus and the BDFL attitude. He'll eventually leave the kernel in some way, and while there are drafts and proposals for a succession plan - none have been seriously considered to the point of any action by Linus. He remains the kernel BDFL, and Linux kernel development remains neither a meritocracy nor a democracy.
You guys are wrong about copyright.
It’s going to fall into the same category of pattern making.
The code itself should never be copyrightable. It’s a series of directions that other human can easily come to on their own and write the exact same way. It should never have been copyrightable, ever. The fact that it is is a privilege you’ve been granted for no good reason. You can rip off fiber artists all day because they can’t copyright their patterns but you can’t rip code? That’s bullshit that has been perpetuated by corporations and needs to end.
However whatever you make from that code IS copyrightable and immediately granted to your project and the moment you bring commerce into it it’s now an IP. All of this can be enforced and will be enforced. So when it happens remember me babes 💋.
Only TempleOS is safe now
Praise him^*^.
^*^Terry A. Davis
What about BeOS?
No one should be surprised.
Man's got a massive ego problem, and has done for years. Of course he'd think his AI code is good.
Give it time.
No need. The Ppl behind GBT are litterly lobbying the pope to recognize their AI has a soul
That I know that's really a thing makes me want to have a physical tantrum over how stupid and frustrating it is
Thanks, I thought I was in a minority thinking he is losing his marbles, but the upvotes you got say there's more people realizing that.
I'll take a neutral source to read this, because the headline suggests this article is at the very least over hyping and at worst plain lying
Been a bit of a bother trying to find the actual info and not a rage piece that makes FOX News look sane. And I don't touch that agency with an 11ft pole.
From what I remember reading, Linus uses LLMs to help during bug hunting - the second pair of eyes. This is actually a useful part of the AI models - they may be awful at code writing, but they do seem to have some capability when looking over code as a first line proofer. That is, it's useful for you to get a direction as to where to look further with issues.
As for the Assisted-By tag being removed, it was a matter that no one was really using it, making it functionally useless.
I'll start with fuck AI, but it does feel like most of the people commenting here only know about coding and AI from stories around a campfire.
A good developer will consider the tools and choose the ones that are beneficial. It's crazy that people think somebody like Linus will suddenly be useless because of AI.
And yet, from experience as a software dev currently on job hunt because his company is switching mostly only AI developing, that is not what companies are doing and not what a lot of devs seem to be doing. They'll vibe code and see it as done
In the near future (and I suspect it's quite sooner than we thought) all those companies' codebase will turn into mostly slopcode that no one there will have enough knowledge about it. They will eventually hit a timeline where only AI agents could still do a thing about it and that will be a huge crash for them. It's suppose to be a tool, they act like it's everything they need. Maybe we'll even see that their software is changing inconsistently in every major update because they have to vibe-code it from scratch every time.
Oh no, didn't you see? Ai agents are gonna start self replicating on smart devices everywhere and become their own botnet!
Software engineer writing code for a living, day in, day out for over a decade. I'm completely self taught and never went to uni, and got my first role at 20, if that means anything. I trust nothing from Claude. We just had a "write no code have claude complete in automode". Nope. It's horrible. We even had it write the jira stories. Complete shit.
So the issue is being forced to use a tool when doesn't suit, which is not the case with Linus
If you take all of the civilization level atrocities being committed constantly by ai companies and their fascist supporters...eh maybe?
I think
moredevelopers and engineers need to work on their busted ass moral compasses.Developers and engineers aren’t fans of AI. It’s our stolen work being used to try and surpress our wages & replace our trade.
Unfortunately, there's enough engineers going along with it and supporting it for various reasons that I'm terrified that the turbulence and volatility in our industry has only truly just begun.
When part of the bubble pops and what's left of vc cash dries up, there's going to be a great convenient consolidation around government and military applications just in time for global conflict to give it more fuel and another big downward shake.
Also need to unionize!
Coming in here and seeing all the bans...
I know there are two sides to every story. So one shouldn't just judge from the number of bans, comments upvote ratio, and definitely not by also reading the modlog reasoning...
It's like half the thread belongs in one of the power_tripping_bastard/mod_abuse communities
I see it as keeping at least one part of our community free of the incessant noise of the AI crowd. There are places enough to debate the pros and cons of AI ad nauseam. This community isn't that place.
Sounds like a really quick way to an echo chamber. That's not healthy. Also part of why reddit went to shit. There's nothing wrong with contrasting opinions.
Contrasting opinions? In my community?
It's more likely than you think!

Giant tropical centipedes share their territories with tarantulas.
Lol almost went with the song link. Probably should've.
That is true, but considering how anti-AI folks can give every legit reason in the book and will still get dismissed with "yeah but if we just use it responsibly" and other hand-waving nonsense, I understand why the mods would be a bit trigger happy. I'm sick of it, too.
I can appreciate the frustration in it. I'm staunchly anti ai and I don't like those people either. I still think they should be able to come and have an opinion and have it rebutted.
What’s worth reading crying about water, theft, and fear from people who don’t want anyone using it to be allowed to develop anything?
There’s plenty to be said but 99.9% of the noise is stupid and pointless.
I fucking hate AI and view it as an disgrace to human dignity, but the pro-AI people should be allowed to come here and look like fools of they like (as long as they're not using AI to write their posts).
Well unlike the others who commented you seem to post regularly here. So your opinion is actually worth something. Usually I don't have to do much in regards to moderation, just the usual spam. Its really only this type of thread where a popular person gets criticised for their AI use and their fan club shows up. Then I try to get ahead of that and kick them out so it doesn't fester. Free marketplace of ideas is all well and good until one side makes enough noise to drown out every opposing voice and I see the AI side very much as the noisy one.
Maybe that lovely quote could be in the sidebar of the community? Maybe above the rules that the banned users broke.
I think the problem is the ragebait article designed to appeal to the science deniers that you want to fester here. It's not hard to be against AI but it is really easy to be stupid about it. And you are all verrryyyy quick to point out someone else being stupid about AI so it is integral you take the L's when you earn them. And you are definitely earning this one. I mean how can you admit to controlling the narrative by banning people who want to rebut nonsense?
Everything about this place is just designed to enrage while science is completely ignored and personal opinion and feelings are treated as evidence. You stray from reality and complain about experts making decisions in their field. It's entirely anti-vaxx magat tier nonsense you are doing this on purpose.
that escalated quickly into whataboutism
Cool. I have a feeling what would happen, if someone was to foolish enough to argue against that.
I'm sure the commenters broke a clearly stated rule that they knew about.
Bummer. I was hoping this was a case where someone created their own open-source model, trained on their own work and not Internet scraping or destroying books or whatever, and did the thing on their own local infrastructure. There's nothing unethical about that.
Seems pretty clear from his statements that he's just slop 'coding' with frontier models.
Apparently we can all look forward to things that always worked to suddenly be buggy as hell, just as it is now with Windows.
Even if you train your own model, its still worse than a human doing human work every single time and runs huge risks to a project like this.
You're not wrong. My assumption would be that if someone takes those added steps to be ethical, it's not unlikely that they take the time to test properly too.
For the amount of manual checking to make it okay you're better off writing the code.
I've already noticed this having installed Linux for the first time last year. Could be unrelated to the kernel but I've had more system hangs the last couple months, up from basically zero prior to that.
Could be RAM going bad too, but yeah it sucks to just not know.
From the GitHub repo of said vibe-coded project. It appears Linus did not in fact know enough Python to code this properly and couldn't be bothered to learn, so the writing you're questioning is accurate.
I'm not defending the vibe coding but the article's argument here is pretty bad. I am at the top of my field, I have been coding since the mid nineties, bla, blah, blah, and I cannot stand Python. I don't like it. I don't want to learn it. That's not a fault or a deficiency, it's a choice.
What is a problem is Linus' decision to go ahead and "code" something on Python even though he had no intention on learning it, then using AI to code something for him that he could not troubleshoot because he doesn't have the knowledge. That's reckless.
I'm with you 100%. However, the logical next step is then to code the thing in a language you know and/or like -- I'm sure there are plenty of those. It is NOT to utilize a fucking AI to code it for you in Python just because you can't be arsed to learn Python.
That is exactly the argument the article is making (albeit rather roundabout and colored with personal opinion, which is....fine, it's his article, he can phrase it however he wants to). Linus would rather vibe-code the thing in Python than just bang out a couple lines of code in a language he's familiar with.
But if I vibe code say a driver for piece of semi-obscure hardware and try to merge it, I'm sure that'll go over well right? I mean I can't be arsed to learn C or Rust, so I'll let Claude or whatever slap something together and submit.
right, but if a heart surgeon tried to do an appendectomy by using a chatbot you wouldn't think that is fine
Its a bad example given that a heart surgeon is trained in surgery first, then specialized later, and that robot assisted surgery is standard now.
I think a better example is an airplane pilot deciding to fly a helicopter but letting a Tesla FSB style system do it for him since he doesn't feel like learning.
Well... Guess we're all fucked now.
ITT: Hyperbole
I mean, we're in the middle of a cold civil war across the world right now, with fascism and puritanism on the STRONG rise. And that's not hyperbole.
Maybe I’ll give BSD another go
had all this happened 2 years ago i don’t think i would’ve bothered switching away from windows tbh
i wonder how many people now are thinking the same thing…
Linux still has the advantage of not coming packed with trackers and spy software. But who knows what the future holds? maybe the ai agents will sneak in some backdoors purposefully.
i really don't think they're smart enough to backdoor anything on purpose
How much AI slop do you think is in Windows by this point? If I'm forced to choose an OS when they ALL contain AI written code, I'll choose the open source one.
and now we’re back to lesser evilism
personally, i’m not switching back to windows, but i also can’t blame someone for choosing not to bother with learning a new os and dealing with its limitations now that the ethical and community arguments that might have convinced them (and that convinced me) are moot
This stance still doesnt make sense. The average user is effected by the quality degrading design choices crammed into windows. None of that transfers to Linux. The only pop-up I get asking me to do anything is discovery telling me to update a flatpack. Its still a night and day difference. Dont miss the sun because the ground is more comfortable to stare at.
Always were? Linux has never been a perfect OS, just the least bad option that gets you by without trying to scam you into subscribing to Copilot 365
That's why I included the bit about "forced to choose". Most people aren't in that situation, and they can happily stay. I'm just speaking about a hypothetical situation where everything else is equal.
We're now thinking of switching to BSD. But I'm hoping enough kernel maintainers and others will move to a fork of the last pre-LLM-touched kernel(s) ASAP.
This article seems biased given how emotional it is. It could be entirely factually correct yet still misrepresent the situation. For example, there's no mention of the patch criteria or review procedure, which is such an important part of fairly covering this topic that omitting it is actively malicious.
I'll be waiting for fair coverage of the situation from a reputable news source, not a website whose sole purpose is to make AI and its users look bad.
I'm currently looking into forking the Linux kernel. Worst thing that can happen is that it fails, or I have to change professions.
Uhh...
That could be why he also said it's time to make it harder to get started committing to Linux. As in, no vibe coding newbies wanted, patches will be accepted from people who actually know how the kernel works
Yikes, I wasn't aware that he had said that. That's a completely terrible mistake. It's the same mistake that corporations have been warned about for a while now: if you stop hiring and training junior developers, pretty you won't have any senior developers because the pipeline that produces the seniors has been dismantled. What a terrible thing AI is turning out to be. The comparison to asbestos was apt.
Fuck Whorevalds
AI imo is good at finding potential issues or places to optimize but it shouldn’t be writing code on the kernel. It’s up to the human to investigate and adjust, not AI slop.
At what point does someone fork the kernel project, call it something else, and commit to 0 slop code? My impression is that after a few update cycles, code gets harder to remove because other components start to rely on it so it seems like the time is now.
it's not that it's harder to remove, with no reliable info about which commits are human made and which aren't, you can't reuse any of them from this point in time.
for the record, the diff just between 7.2 and 7.3-rc7 is over 1.5 million lines and comes out to a 61 megabyte patch. but linux has been accepting sloppy code for a bit now and the last clean version is 6.16.7.
you'd need a really well funded and motivated group of developers, and even then i worry how doable that is, especially if the goal is to stay linux-compatible.
Maintaining the kernel would be such a HUGE undertaking, and I imagine that's why nobody's done it yet. That said, we do know the last untainted version in case anybody wants to try...
I don't mind it IF the programmer using it does it while understanding what is churned out and how it works, ergo, if he is skilled enough to use his AI only as a tool to save time.
If he has no expertise and the code is completely unverified and uncontrolled, then it's slop.
We just need more volunteers? Isn’t it just that the development is on such few people?
That is one of many issues.
Put a pin in socio-economic-environmental issues for a second.
AI is good at finding bugs/vulnerabilities. If you're using it for peer programming, the output is 100% what you're comfortable with, while you're still directing what goes where and how. That's right up Torvald's alley. Not every piece of code we write is a masterpiece of complicated art. Sometimes, when we are writing a complicated piece, we are unable to see all the ramifications of each piece in a way that AI appears to be able to see.
From this standpoint, even if we had a LOT more people working on the kernel. We'd amplify problems, especially if the people we threw on the project were more free-hands than artists.
Unpin that socio-economic-env stuff now.
Until tokens cost enough that it's not reasonable, or the AI providers make things dumb enough to save money/meet law/eco demands, most code at most places will likely go through at least a post-cleanup/analysis phase. Everything would be labeled slop.
I don't think, long term, that we're going to have AI writing everything at the level we are even now, but it's not impossible. That's not to say I advocate it or push it forward, but there may simply be no way to stop it if the economics / laws allow it to continue.
they're proud of the hurdles they've put in the way of human contributors but also let swarms of clankers right in
i'm so depressed
So long Linux. You hung in there just to sell out in the end. This is far worse.
Use the enemy's weapons against them.
I think we have bigger problems in life than judging a person by their own actions. Like sure, go waste your time. But you better invest it into a fork of the kernel. Because you know, you can fork it. Or just not use it. You have the freedom to do whatever you want. Choosing to just insult shows how bitter and frustrated you are.
Umm FUUUUUUUUUCK no.
We absolutely do not have bigger problems in life than not holding people accountable for their own actions. The problem is that a literal felon, and pedophile, is not being held accountable for their actions. Not being judged for them. And one of them is pardoning criminal after criminal after criminal
That one person not being judged by their own actions has created most of the problems that are affecting the most amount of people right now as we are arguing on lemmy
What in the Epstein hell are you on about with this.
Dude. He just used an LLM. Calm down.
Uh huh, sure go normalize defering delaying and denying responsibility for our own actions.
Do you not see the fucking irony of you telling me that in this point in history?
That’s not what I said. But obviously, at least to me, there is a difference between a pedophile and an LLM user. This is a continuous scale, not a discreet one with two options.
I agree with holding people accountable, if they are criminals. Anything else is just not my business and I couldn’t care less about them. If it is a problem for me, I just walk away.
Do you think it's bad when people try to get others to stop making the world a worse place, even if it's subjective and you might disagree?
I have an issue with calling someone “traitorous scum”, just because they use an LLM.
That's reasonable, I don't think calling anyone scum is acceptable either.
Lmao fuck no.
