Male prostitutes in DC are gonna have to tighten their belts through this difficult time

I have never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.

Mark Twain

111

I feel like Mark Twain elbows Darrow in the afterlife every time it gets misattributed to him

Edit: I feel like it's really important understand when I say this it's the Mark Twain from that tng episode times arrow where they all go in the past and meet Mark Twain and he figures out that they are spacemen

So he has wished a man dead. No need to pretend to have a moral high ground for the sake of appearing "civil".

You made a very similar joke about "hacking" like 2 comments ago so I know you already understand this is a joke.

I still can't believe he never found a wife. Amazing for someone 71 years old.

Could have done so much good in SC as an out gay man. Didn't.

3

Yeah he could have retired and come out, tried to make the worst people in SC more tolerant of specifically white cis gay men. But even that basic decency escaped him.

Never let it be said that he ever found a moral choice difficult, for he spent his whole life choosing to do the wrong and cowardly thing without question.

3

I'm not upvoting the story this time, I'm upvoting the death itself.

Fucking hell I was thinking would see Mitch McConnell death announcement, I was not expecting this....I just know can't stop smiling.

40
lemmy.world

To stave off the fading of his own spirit, Mitch drew the life essence from one of his own kin, and so endured.

16

Graham before McConnell? t’s like walking into a deli and coming out with a free slice of cake. I didn’t expect it, but I’m not upset.

Lorenzo Salgado, the home builder guy in Houston who ice murdered deserves all the attention Lindsey Graham's death is getting.

I thought that other giant piece of shit republican was about to die?

Let's hope these old republican assholes all start dying off quick.

I don't believe in God, but they did just get me an unmatched birthday present, could not have asked for a better gift.

A brief and sudden illness describes ricin poisoning, I speculate wildly in the knowledge that Graham recently supported a sanctions package against Russia, a nation notorious for silencing dissidents with ricin.

The article said: "A preliminary examination by the DC Medical Examiner has determined the possible cause of death for longtime Senator Lindsey Graham to be aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, officials said Sunday.". Read the article people, or at least the first paragraph 😄

3
lemmy.world

I was elected to speculate wildly, not read.

But, yeah, aortic dissection is a bitch. There isn't really anything you can do about it unless you happen to be near a surgery suite that is expecting you.

He was just in Ukraine though. It's very likely a heart attack or something from old age, and it's also not unlikely that Russia got to him in Ukraine with one of their signature assassinations.

6

Does it even Matter? Nazis killing Nazis. They love doing that shit. Or a really old guy dying of old. That happens too.

Do we really care who kills these people, as long as they're dead? Is it worth conspiratizing over?

4

No, it doesn't matter, I'm celebrating either way.

It would be extra delicious though to find out he was killed by Russians in Ukraine as a favor to Iran as revenge for killing the Grand Ayatollah and the 200 school girls, it would be so good for the soul to know Israel got him killed.

2

I heard a theory he died from poppers a common party drug in the gay community. Interesting theory put out by a man of the community

4

I think whatever happened to him is distinct from "heart attack," as if it were that, then news outlets would just be calling it that. Instead, they're going out of their way to explain this other thing.

1

But given they were both heart attacks seems like we’re due for a Big Beautiful Coronary

I know a lot of people are hoping for Kissenger, and admittedly for good reasons, but I have a personal hang up with Roger Stone.

2

OMG! You are right, he did. How did I miss that? I may go out for drinks later. From my POV, two very evil people who made life substantially harder for many of my friends died today.

that's the point of the sentence

others passing (death) is what makes the world a better place.

Good riddance, hopefully McConnell is already dead.

29

He is. Or he's a vegetable, which is no different in terms of being able to perform hus duties as a senator. They're playing weekend at Bernie's with him and they'll do the same when ol Grim eventually claims Trump.

That might just be my micro plastics talking though.

Average age of death is 83, with a normal distribution, so half of people die above 83.

Bolgia 5 – Barrators: Corrupt politicians, who made money by trafficking in public offices (the political analogue of the simoniacs), are immersed in a lake of boiling pitch, which represents the sticky fingers and dark secrets of their corrupt deals. They are guarded by demons called the Malebranche ("Evil Claws"), who tear them to pieces with claws and grappling hooks if they catch them above the surface of the pitch. - Wikipedia

Didn't read the article. Did he suffocate in the closet on a dick too big? Or did his back break trying lift Trump's massive ego? I have money riding on it.

No it's important. Imagine some party or coalition has very narrow control of your country's parliament. Then one of the members dies, and another one is in the hospital and hasn't been seen in weeks. So that control is teetering and the entire government might collapse if the control slips away. That's not entirely a local story since what your country's national government does will have effects all over the world.

Here in the US we have a separate executive branch so even if Trumps party loses control of Congress (= parliament), Trump himself is still the president, but it's still a big change, it becomes much harder for him to get laws passed. That affects all sorts of things. Also, these guys (Graham and McConnell) have been around forever and are very influential. McConnell (the guy in the hospital) is the Senate majority leader, maybe of similar standing to the head of the opposition party in a parliamentary country, since the head of the governing party would be the PM. Still an important dude.

I don't want to be morbid about it but it might help understand some of the other posts here.

15

To be fair, Democrats like Schumer and Jeffries ain't exactly champing at the bit to go after MAGA and throw em all in prison and reverse all the shit they've done.

Removing the GOP from power is sadly just the first of many steps to fixing the myriad problems with this country.

I'd recommend making a reply if you changed your view so that the original is still visible (unless you said a slur or something that no one needs to see I guess.) Or I suppose you could just add to the bottom of the original post.
