Does anyone else feel like the more they learn about fucked up history and current events the more we have to worry about? The older I get, and as I learn about history, the more things I have to think about that keep me up at night. Maybe ignorance is bliss after all?

EDIT: I should have mentioned originally that I'm a person that is hyper vigilant (on the spectrum) and can't not notice things. I notice every little detail of everything I see. Why is the guy at the grocery store blocking the entire aisle and is completely oblivious that people can't get by? Why did that person turn without a turn signal? I notice people's body language. I meticulously pick apart things that people say and extract meaning that I'm sure they never intended. I originally thought it was OCD, but I don't have any of those traditional trappings. I wish I could just turn it off, as it's exhausting.

I've owned a Pinephone Pro since launch, and have tried to daily drive it on and off for years with limited success. It's sitting in a drawer at the moment because echo cancellation doesn't work on phone calls regularly.

Anyways, I have a Pixel 3a sitting around that needs a battery replacement, but I wanted to ask here if anyone else is running Linux on it? And if so, how is the experience? I've been using Linux for decades, so I have no problem working around quirks, but I just want a Linux phone I can text and make phone calls on. I really don't have too many advanced app needs other than podcasts and web browsing.

Over my years I've owned many types of non-stick pans. Judge me as you see fit, but I've owned Teflon, stainless steel, ceramic, and cast iron pans, but none of them seem to stay "non-stick" for more than a few years. I've had the best luck with cast iron, but my wife doesn't like to use them because they're heavy. I hand wash them all with soap and water, but they all seem to lose their ability to shed off what I cook in them. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good non-stick pan?

EDIT: It seems like the consensus is on cast iron, or ceramic steel. I just looked it up, and there are "slim" cast iron pans, so maybe that'll be a happy medium. Thanks for all the anecdotes and suggestions folks.

I'm 43, almost 44, years old and went through a bought of alcoholism during the early part of the pandemic. I went through treatment and have been fine since. However, I can't help but feel that all the news in the last few months is just the worst. Between the AI bullshit, the wars, the effects of capitalism, and the political situation in general it's just the worst. Is it just me or have other folks noticed the same trend?

Edit: I should have also mentioned the enshitification of everything tech related.

Edit 2: Thanks for all the thoughtful replies. For some more context, yes I'm American and live in a state that's about to ban the wearing of masks in public. I haven't had a drink in over year and have been in therapy for 3 years. I don't watch any news sources and rarely read media websites. But yet, that information seeps into my life somehow. I donate blood, I make charitable donations, and try to live a good life. I have 2 amazing kids and a great wife. It's just hard to not end up in a doomer mindset at times. A Bitcoin company bought a power plant up here that has an existing lease to use a lake as cooling water, and it's heated up the lake to the point that it's killing fish.
