I swear to all the fucking gods, I'm contrarian enough that even if I were anti union, this shitty attempt at manipulation would make me jump on board.
Like, fuck, don't insult my fucking intelligence like that
look man, I've tried those cheap Algerian knockoffs - most of the time, you're lucky if you get 2 or 3 Marquees under the fucker before it starts warping, much less taking it onto the bourgeoise pigs and their fat necks.
Right? What kind of union isn’t benefiting their members to the tune of $700 a year? Especially one that’s charging those kinds of dues should well be able to.
For whoever reported this as Anti-Union Propaganda, you are correct. However, this post has been approved because it's blatantly awful as a piece of propaganda. Anyone who thinks that this post provides a convincing argument, please add your comment to the thread to promote discussion. :)
Average annual salary is slightly less than $70k annually in the US. A union that gets you even a meager 3% raise annually is ~$2100 in increased income or 3x what your dues is.
Ok but here’s the thing… you can regicide the price of the union with the company and hand the company pay for most of your union dues and realistically 700/year isn’t bad for job security, higher wages, better hours and better benefits aswell as various other things that not being in a union would be impossible. This union busting is madly illegal and really fucked up. Hate US companies
Big corporations actively campaigning against you doing something like this is always a pretty safe bet that the opposite of what they want is in your interest.
You know who I trust to tell me how to live my life? Big faceless corporations. They obviously want what's best for me more than they care about their bottom line.
I'd expect more unionization to mechanically reduce games scope by increasing workers hourly compensation. And progressively remove authority from the MBA guys through giving more power to the devs
Based on laws from other democratic countries who aren't even particularly fond of unions as a whole, but still didn't go full mask off capitalism.
Fun task for you if you want to learn more about this : research why labor day is May 1st basically everywhere else in the world, but not in the US (and Canada).
So $58.33 per month or like 3.65 McDonald's double Bacon quarter pounder with cheese meals per month.
It's always worth making sure the union is working in your interest and not wasting funds but beyond that the money will pay for itself generally speaking.
That's roughly what I pay and I just got two retroactive 3% raises and a massive increase in my benefits thanks to my union. My employer wanted to cut people or freeze pay and the union made them back down in everything. We got everything we wanted and didn't need to compromise... Worth every penny in union dues. I'll have a cheque for a few thousands dollars mid July now.
My first job in high school was at a grocery store with a union and they did jack shit for me when I got fired for something out of my control. Almost a year later they called and told me they could get me my job back but I wouldn't get back pay and I owed them X months of union dues. It soured my opinion on unions for years.
Those were the sorts of stories I heard about unions when I was growing up. Want to clean up a mess? Sorry, union rules say you have to wait for another guy to get here to do it.
I always felt like unions just got in the way of doing things logically or quickly, but I'm pretty sure those stories and comments were intended to do that. Nowadays I know better, and I agree with you: we need unions now more than ever.
Well after my experience with unions in Philadelphia, I'm pretty confident in saying that it varies. I worked for a company that held conventions. We wanted the flag of each attending country to line the entrance hall and it took coordination with FOUR unions. I am not exaggerating.
One union to bring the pallet to the hallway
A second union to place the flag bases
Yet another union to place the flags in the bases
And the last to remove the pallet/packaging (not the same as the first!)
I found this out when I nearly got tackled after putting a flag in its base.
On the flip side, my friend's labor union secured a (permanent) $5/hr raise during COVID.
I joined a union after a previous manager started coming after me (cos they were a bit power mad) and I could only sue them when they fired me thanks to the union resources. Otherwise, I would have had to leave fuming but powerless like everyone else had. Unions are totally worth it!
Uniona are kinda a strange duck. Employers hate them, but technically shouldn't care because if they were in fact not trying to fuck you constantly then unions wouldn't get people very far.
On the other hand as a union worker myself, I've seen some of the laziest biggest pieces of shit not get fired because we're union. So it isn't sunshine and rainbows for either side.
I'd rather some lazy fucker gets to live comfortably with a living wage like anyone else than some lazy rich fucktard gets to live super duper comfy while everyone else suffers. Theres always low performer for whatever reason (its rarely pure lazyness), a healthy society can carry them.
Free riders are a feature, not a bug. High unions make everything better for almost everyone. The only ones who benefit from union-busting are the ownership class, because ultimately they only work in a competitive market when the ownership isn't hoarding more than their share.
Yeah! Buy a gaming console instead of having support against us, the mighty abusive employers! Getting fair wages is just dumb when you can play video games.
By the way, why so expensive? I pay 8 euros monthly, from my bruto income. While they made sure my previous employer didn't fuck me over, for a staggering 5 years long fight. I had 5 lawyers. For 8 euros per month. And I won, which I couldn't have done myself.
I read your and the other comment as if the poster is mocking the workers by displaying an old console system. I don't read that into this pictogram. Did I misunderstand?
I have a Sega Saturn and the controller looks just like it. It's a typical Sega shape, starting with the Mega Drive.
The only thing you could maybe deduct is that it must be an older poster, because the Saturn was a 90's console and this poster seems to be inspired by it.
I "collect" these consoles, or rather I hold onto them.
edit: I just noticed my original reply was to some random post (yours), I wanted to reply to the OP.
A bit of a side note, but whoever or whatever team created this clearly isn't a gamer. While most modern consoles I believe are capable of playing music. Video game terminology wouldn't refer to playing games as "The Latest Hits Sounds".

If im getting union wages I can do both
How much do your union busting consultants cost Delta?
I bet it is a fuckload more than that.
@[email protected] They could buy us even more games
This is what literally popped into my head when I read the blatant anti-union propaganda.
I swear to all the fucking gods, I'm contrarian enough that even if I were anti union, this shitty attempt at manipulation would make me jump on board.
Like, fuck, don't insult my fucking intelligence like that
I know craftsmen who could certainly build one for cheaper than that...
look man, I've tried those cheap Algerian knockoffs - most of the time, you're lucky if you get 2 or 3 Marquees under the fucker before it starts warping, much less taking it onto the bourgeoise pigs and their fat necks.
Don't be fooled, you get what you pay for here.
Everyone's got a guillotine guy
Its a shame no one puts a sticker that says Union dues are like an investment that will pay off in dividends way above 700
Right? What kind of union isn’t benefiting their members to the tune of $700 a year? Especially one that’s charging those kinds of dues should well be able to.
wait, i cannot tell if this is real. it's to absurd to be real but it's also american so i'm lost
It's sadly real. From a few years ago. https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-48225646

Bunch of fucking wankers.
I feel like if I worked someplace that put up that sign I would go study to become a plumber. Infuriating.
I worked for a summer at Staples. They actively discouraged unionization.
If there ever was a sign that you probably need a union... This is it.
They had a whole video that was anti-union which was “training” material.
Home Depot did the same thing when I worked there ages ago. There were even questions afterwards to ensure our
complianceunderstanding.Walmart was the same.

With the retroactive salary increase my union just got me, I could buy several gaming systems. [meme of dude tapping his head]
Huh, it's apparently called "Roll Safe": https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/roll-safe

Coincidentally, unions might be the only things that could still save the AAA side of the games industry...
I think the current AAA system should die. It’s brutal for the people making games and it’s completely unsustainable in the long run.
I'd expect more unionization to mechanically reduce games scope by increasing workers hourly compensation. And progressively remove authority from the MBA guys through giving more power to the devs
That works for me. I’ve come to appreciate games that keep it short but tight over long games full of filler.
Don't think. Don't organize. Just consume.
This looks illegal
Not in Gringoland, nope. Union-busting behaviour is routine there. Something that is well documented and studied.
BTW: great username!
Based on what 🤣 Jesus people 🤦♂️
One could argue that by presenting factually wrong data about union benefits the employer is contradicting the following:
Based on good laws and regulations in countries where the freedoms of the people outweighs the freedoms of corporations.
Based on laws from other democratic countries who aren't even particularly fond of unions as a whole, but still didn't go full mask off capitalism.
Fun task for you if you want to learn more about this : research why labor day is May 1st basically everywhere else in the world, but not in the US (and Canada).
Delta pilots are unionized. Wide body captains are making over $700k/year
I can see why Delta doesn't want the rest of their employees unionizing. I don't see why they haven't
Pilots make more money if they're fatasses!? Where do I sign up!?
$700 lol 😆...I wish . Try $4500/year and worth every penny. GO UNION!!!
Union dues are tax deductible where I am, quick ddg says no in the US?
Work expenses are tax deductible.. Union dues are work expenses.. Same with safety equipment such as steel toe boots and FR clothing, uniforms etc
"Buy this thing so you don't notice while we take advantage of you."
I'm honestly surprised they aren't telling us to buy something Delta sells to complete the grift.
Bread and circuses baby, bread and circuses
I'm not much for circuses, but I'd like to hear more about this "bread?"
I'm pretty sure this falls under a railway labor act violation.
And yes, workers in aviation get lumped under the railway labor act when it comes to unionizing.
So $58.33 per month or like 3.65 McDonald's double Bacon quarter pounder with cheese meals per month.
It's always worth making sure the union is working in your interest and not wasting funds but beyond that the money will pay for itself generally speaking.

Unionize!
Not all unions are good but not having a union is typically far worse.
My first job in high school was at a grocery store with a union and they did jack shit for me when I got fired for something out of my control. Almost a year later they called and told me they could get me my job back but I wouldn't get back pay and I owed them X months of union dues. It soured my opinion on unions for years.
Nowadays, I wish everyone would unionize.

Any governing body of any form needs attention, particularly ones that have the power to tax.
They think gamers are fucking stupid. It’s too bad they are right.
Really just people in general, not gamers in particular.
Gamergate proved that they are indeed fucking stupid.
So what you're saying, is that Delta employees are so stupid, that they fall for this shit?
I was going to say that it got a lot of negative attention.
But seeing that Delta employees still aren't fully unionized may mean you're right.
I think I pay 60€ per 3 months, so 240 per year, and I get a part of it back after submitting some form.
You also (probably) get regular raises and healthcare
Yes, our country has wage indexation and healthcare.
I joined a union after a previous manager started coming after me (cos they were a bit power mad) and I could only sue them when they fired me thanks to the union resources. Otherwise, I would have had to leave fuming but powerless like everyone else had. Unions are totally worth it!
At ny last union job the dues were only around $250/year.
I love how this (old) image feels like something out of dystopian fiction.
I could see it on the wall in Half Life 2, or Deus Ex. Not Cyberpunk 2077 'cause they wouldn't need it.
Uniona are kinda a strange duck. Employers hate them, but technically shouldn't care because if they were in fact not trying to fuck you constantly then unions wouldn't get people very far.

It doesnt need to be this way, but through corruption or other means this has happened.
Like the room in NYC with teachers that just sit in it all day because they cant be fired.
Free riders are a feature, not a bug. High unions make everything better for almost everyone. The only ones who benefit from union-busting are the ownership class, because ultimately they only work in a competitive market when the ownership isn't hoarding more than their share.
You're focused on the wrong enemy.
Impossible to say if this poster is from this month or from the 80s.
Apart from the Saturn-shaped controller, which means post 90s.
If they don't want you to have it, it must be good!
Just to be clear, a system is not on subscription.
Yeah! Buy a gaming console instead of having support against us, the mighty abusive employers! Getting fair wages is just dumb when you can play video games.

Join a union, pay dues. Get a good salary, make 3k more per year.
The controller depicted is of a Sega Saturn.
Nope, the overall shape matches but the Saturn had a circular d-pad and six face buttons. Your point (I assume) that it looks hopelessly retro stands.
Its a pictogram so i don't see any hidden message there
Were you looking for a hidden message or ...?
I read your and the other comment as if the poster is mocking the workers by displaying an old console system. I don't read that into this pictogram. Did I misunderstand?

you have misinterpreted it.
it's not "hit sounds" it's "hits sounds"
Your right, but it's still bad punctuation. Despite the irony. I fixed my typo.
Fuck union busters, fuck carpet baggers, fuck scabs, fuck corpos, and most of all fuck 12.
Nope. Lost me at "fuck 12". Grow up.
If growing up means licking boot, I happily refuse. Fuck 12.
Police = fascism now I guess. No communist nation has ever had a police force right? Maybe read the wikipedia page about fascism.
But games aren't tax deductible
Why are you so aggressive honey?
SatansMaggotyCumFart prefers MAGA to leftists.

Putting the ad hominem to the side if that is what you got out of that conversation I think it’s mostly a reading comprehension issue.
I think you're forgetting the etiquette of the fediverse.
They ain't being a nuisance here, so why the nagging?
