US President Donald Trump railed against Medicare for All during an Oval Office event on Tuesday, falsely claiming the proposal would be prohibitively expensive and ineffective despite new research confirming it would save lives and cost significantly less than the corporate-dominated status quo.

The president's remarks came during an event touting his limited, voluntary, and secretive agreements with leading pharmaceutical companies, deals purportedly aimed at lowering drug prices. Trump again lied by claiming that his efforts are "much bigger" than Medicare for All, which would provide comprehensive health coverage to every person in the US for free at the point of service, eliminating premiums, copays, and deductibles.

Trump said that Medicare for All, which has not been tried at a national level in the US, "doesn't work," falsely claiming a single-payer system would cost "the entire budget of the whole country" and send taxes into the stratosphere.

Even if it were true, such spending would be better than on endless wars and tax cuts for trillionaires. This kind of spending would also prevent the people spending on guillotines, especially with the ai displacing workers. They're already threatening guillotines, so it'd be an investment in having a stable society if anything

A federal judge in Manhattan has again declined President Donald Trump’s efforts to transfer, or “remove,” the Manhattan district attorney’s criminal case against him to federal court in an effort to erase his 2024 conviction in the so-called hush money case.

In considering whether Trump had shown the requisite “good cause” for delaying his second attempt to remove the case to federal court, Judge Alvin Hellerstein, a 92-year-old judge in the Southern District of New York, noted that even after the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision, Trump first tried to litigate that issue in New York state court.

That, according to Hellerstein, is antithetical to good cause: A litigant “cannot seek victory in one court, and then, when it becomes apparent that the court will rule against him, seek to remove his case to another court,” he wrote.
