Tucker Carlson says he'll no longer support the Republican Party

Longtime conservative commentator Tucker Carlson said on a podcast that “there’s no chance I would support the Republican Party” ahead of the November midterm elections, dismissing the political affiliation he’s defended as a pundit for decades, including as one of Fox News Channel’s most popular hosts.

I'm sorry, Tucker. Your bullshit helped us get into the mess we're in. You can't slither your way away from the cesspool of society that you've built up and groomed for 7 years on Faux News.

Yup.

The MAGAsphere's ability to make money off stupid people is nearing an end. They're looking for the next grift.

ability to make money off stupid people is nearing an end

I figure that is an evergreen thing. No shortage of stupid people and that's probably why someone like Donvict ran as a Republican - they tend to concentrate in the right wing.

1

He also probably just believes in a different set of terrible values than MAGA.

2

He's the heir of a multi-national company, he's CIA trainedsorry totally not CIA trained, and has more political and business connections than Trump.

It's 50/50 whether or not he's the next president or he fronts the next major conservative movement in general that finalizes the nail in the coffin that is the US empire.

I don't think that many people here give a shit what he does. He's never been any kind of friend to you or me, and forgive me if I don't think he's starting now. He's probably just looking for a new angle to cause division in working class people. That has always been his moral free hobby and paycheck.

95

Not even a paycheck. He's extremely wealthy, like his whole line never needs to work again. He does this for fun. I can't relate to someone like that.

Tucker isn’t on anyone’s side but Tucker’s. If he does damage against maga and the GOP I’ll be happy he did but he can still go eat a tire

3

He’s not going to do damage, he’s planning a run as an independent, and he’s hoping to start an America First party with Margery and the other religious fruitcakes.

I suspect he’s still run by Russia, which hasn’t gotten what they want from Trump and co.

2

With Tucker remember. He doesn't care about the money, he's a fundie, Swanson foods. He does this for him.

Honestly I'm happy to hear this. My dad watches his show and as much as he denies it, tends to parrot whatever carlson says. I guess we'll see if his audienceship survives the changing political party

Is there any chance that the Republican party will shift away from MAGA and toward Tucker?

Probably. IME the average low info conservative voter blindly trusts their favorite propagandists, so I think it's very meaningful and good when those propagandists try to jump off the sinking ship. Not in the sense that I suddenly trust them or think they're good people, but I'm also not so high on my own moral purity that I'm going to reject it or pretend it doesn't benefit me and my worldview.

I wish he'd no longer convert oxygen to carbon dioxide

16

That's how in 2026 you say I wish someone was less alive as he is now. This is to not get caught by some algorithm.

I think the turncoat could do more damage alive than dead.

1

It would be nice if he'd convert CO2 to, potentially, 1 cadaver

Trying to save himself. Won't work, you're a permanent, charter member of The List.

We won't forget, and there will be no mercy, redemption, or forgiveness.

18

He said he won't support Democrats either, so I don't think he's looking to get redeemed by normal Americans.

1

I'm not sure the Libertarians want xtian nationalists.

Maybe Tucker joins up with the Constitution Party or starts some new thing.

Instead it'll be the America First party led by Fuentes. All the bigotry, just more inclusive cause they hate Israel and Jews as well.

Israel is committing a genocide in the Middle East. Israel doesn’t represent the “Jews” it’s a rogue apartheid colony slaughtering the indigenous population for their own imperial expansion project and we should not be supporting them at all. We should be taking care of our own citizens first.

2

This opportunistic shill would sell his kids to the butcher if it meant he could get a few more minutes of attention.

Maybe start a TuckerTeabag Party and invite Marge?

Siphon off just enough a percentage of Republicans to break and stall the conservative "project" for many decades.

Please?

6

There is no louder whining than a right winger realizing that the good ole' boy network they spent so much time trying to worm their way into won't have them.

18
lemmy.world

I thought he was pretty much created in a lab by the good old boys? Isn't he a child of privilege?

1

So, moving on to some other subset of gullible fools to grift? Probably Libertarians.

4

Tucker Carlson says he’ll no longer support the Republican Party.

And I support legislation to secure the taxpayer-funded regulatory framework that implements the weekly maintenance required to keep Tucker Carlson’s facial butthole superglued shut.

Both of these statements have equal value.

EDIT: After careful reflection, I have come to the conclusion that while both statements are stupid, mine is significantly better.

8

He's encouraging them to divide their votes and disengage. It sucks but that is an improvement

2
lemmy.world

That's not what he's doing here, though. He said he won't support the Democrats, either.

1

Ah nvm then. A shame he won't support the Democrats. It would be a nice counter to "Oh but Elon used to be left and he switched sides!11111!!1"

2

I still think of that every time I see Tucker's mug. Getting chastised for being an adult and still wearing a bow tie.

🤣

2

santa I believe is referring to Tucker's old gig at crossfire on CNN, he had jon stewart on, and jon made him look like such a bitch tucker got fired. Tucker almost cried.

1

Ha, I wonder if this will give the shitbag known as Alex Jones permission to do the same. He will of course pretend he was always critical of trump, if he does go that direction.

2
lemmy.world

Lol not left, not right, forward. What's another word for that? Like when we are moving forward we are making... Progress?

I heard on a podcast Carlson wants to make a run for POTUS. Do you think Yang would put him up?

There is a lot of talk of carlson for president in maga land unfortunately. He could win, if not for his anti israel stance. Idk, bet they would either get him to embrace Israel, or kill him, if he was going to win.

2

Wait, I thought a lot of people in the far right really do hate Israel (and not really for principled reasons).

Of course, there are the far right xtian Sharia Law types that looooove Israel, also for totally unprincipled reasons - like believing in eschatology from fan-fic such as the Left Behind series.

1

Funny thing is, everyone talks or asks about Yang outside of FWD as if its his baby and his party, but anytime I join a meeting for Fwd (I'm trying to volunteer, very new), or anything, nobody talks about that.

It's all about building the community, the party, and helping those feeling distant from dems or repubs find a new home. I've been independent because no party felt like it was worthy, but after reading the values section, no bad-mouthing opponents, understanding its more so about data driven policies vs someone getting bought out... It feels like I'm not ashamed of the party and what it represents. This is a party anyone can join, anyone can represent, and anyone can drive real change. At least personally, it feels that way.
