How do you tip?

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.today/post/58025748

HOW do you guys tip in the US? Do you go by food total or bill total? I know it's frowned upon in other countries, I'm not here to question or debate that.

No matter how you split it, pre or post tax, the "gratuity" is much higher than it should be! The 18%is higher even than what actual 20% should be!

Pretax should be $14.26, tax included (ripoff) should be $15.44. So why is the "20%" up to $18.25?! That's a 25.5% tip.

For me, I tip "15%" but round numbers. The bill is $72, so I take 10% (7.20 but round up to 8 then add 4) which ends up $12.

If they were exceptional, I just go off 20% which is $16 by my method, and round the total to the nearest dollar... but even that isn't their pretend 18%!! And technically my method is over 20% after rounding up. They're all just taking advantage of niceness and guilt for patrons having to tip everyone.

Edit: I fucked up being hung up on numbers, not realizing to the left was the explanation. 😅 OK, so just: how do y'all tip?

Recommendations on GasBuddy replacement?

Title. I've used forever, suspected they're not great, but recently saw just how awful they truly are having partnered with Allstate and their data hoarding practices. The app hasn't been granted permissions but that doesn't stop them into uninstalled.

I need another foss or crowd-sourced fuel price app. A couple mentioned in online articles I can't find shit on like Fuelmap, Stationpass, etc. Nothing in F-Droid but auto mando? Doesn't quite fill the need.

MeshCore or Meshtastic: Which one do you use?

Sorry, the article is more of a broad overall comparison, and I wanted to help others who are new to LoRa tech a well. Might help explain why each are beneficial.

For those currently running a repeater or device, or even experience with several nodes, which do you run? What brand? Any recommendations or suggestions?

I plan on using both but worried signals might be crossed or interfere since their frequencies are so similar. MC for at home and MT for on-the-go or shtf and we all need to meet up, etc.

Google analytics opt-out extension?

While clicking around a website's privacy policy, I found an option "if you don't want us or Google to use analytics, click here" more or less.

It's Google own opt out extension, https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Is it that simple to block sites use of Google analytics? I mean, otherwise, are Privacy Badger or Port Authority doing the same thing, just not Google's tool? Is Google's a honeypot or Trojan horse you think?

The Forward Party might be the best bet to get money out of politics

Ethics? Values? What_are_thooose.gif

Sorry. I, like many of you, are petty sick of the BS politics and not enough action being taken. Not enough because both sides are bought out and influenced by duty industry, pharma, and big tech. I feel for a party, it's a great place for independents who aren't tied or married to a political affiliation, and gives us a better voice or strength in numbers.

We need change, we need to move on-no, move forward with change to get it going. Calling on anyone to check out their home page (found in my link) to at least see what they're about. I've volunteered, myself, after finding them a couple weeks ago, and I feel like they've got the most potential!

Plus, a shameless plug to my new site/blog, whatever you wanna call it. If not allowed, please remove.

Thanks
