I also goon to characters from movies I've never seen! But I have heard nothing but good things about Zootopia.

pawb.social

If you're gooning to the characters, you'd probably enjoy the movie, to be honest!

37

They were the first restaurant to offer Sparkling Beef on the menu back in the 80s, but they stopped marketing it when the Carbonated Meat fad had run it's course.

They continued to use gas impregnation on their meats when they discovered it allowed large piles of nutritive matter to cook more quickly and evenly, similarly to how the burger patties at Wendy's an and White Castle are partially perforated.

"And this guy.... He only started playing the game because he liked gooning to the R34 art so much"

2B is hot tho. I ain't playing that game. It's too fucking long and it looks boring.

I personally really enjoyed it. Post nut clarity really helps engage with the philosophic part of the game

Hmmm yes I’m feeling particularly philosophical while playing this one

16
sh.itjust.works

The philosophic part is the worst part

It's just a ham-fisted clusterfuck on a scale worse than the original ending of Evangelion (and that franchise also sucks btw)

Why did you play until it became philosophical if you didn't like it?

2
sh.itjust.works

It's called giving the game a chance.

Also, that's not the quality of retort you think it is. Having a lot of players getting bored and dropping a game before it gets "good" is a bad thing

It's called giving the game a chance.

,If you don't enjoy the gameplay after let's say 2 hours, it's fine to just stop. If you play something without enjoying it, that's on you.

Having a lot of players getting bored and dropping a game before it gets "good" is a bad thing

I'm not aware that many players dropped the game. AAFAIK, the game was positively received and many people liked it.

And I didn't say that it takes a while to "get good". I said that it takes a while for the philosophical themes to show.

Most people that drop a game out of boredom don't tend to talk about it that much. That just lets the diehard fans dictate the narrative about it, especially for one that requires multiple playthroughs like Nier

It's well liked by critics (88% on metacritic) and the audience (very positive on steam). Your opinion is an outlier. Let other people enjoy things.

It doesn't require multiple playthroughs. The game's chapters are just structured in a weird way. Each "playthrough" that's required has a different perspective and/or story than the last one.

Even if you consider each chapter a "playthrough", then each of those is just a few hours.

It's developed by platinum, so gameplay is anything but boring.

Haters gonna hate, huh? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Deserving or not. People enjoyed it and nothing you say is gonna change that.

It’s anything, but it is also boring or it’s not boring?

It is many things. Boring is not among these things.

You've said that already. You're entitled to your opinion that many people disagree on.

This game is NOT boring. Would play even without the hot android up-skirt.

5

Pan up. The game has mods... I don't think I need to sell you more.

I suppose boring story-wise? I personally enjoy the kind of storytelling Drakengard games have, it's full of slow buildup sidequests with usually very sharp endings. Also how dramatic it all gets. Loved Automata so much that after fully completing it (except for that evil one-shot DLC arena) I went and ran through Replicant, too.

But they do take a lot of time to complete and I suppose if you are not that much into all the 19th century philosophy and all the emotional damage characters suffer, that can be boring.

Another thing, if people here persuade you to try it somehow, a controller is mandatory for this game and do try different keybind presets the game offers, the default one sucks.

1

The 19th century philosophy bit sounds neat. You make this game sound more fun than anyone else has. I may need to reevaluate.

2

There's more sexy characters in the games I won't like the gameplay of than the games I usually like to play. 🤷‍♂️

Shit, a lot of games I play don't even have people in them. Am I supposed to just goon to rule 34 of machinery?

31

It’s so good. Fun, over the top dialogue, a decently implemented story that drives you through the masses of bodies, and the mechanics make you feel like the murder god your character is. And the perfect soundtrack to keep you alive. 0 regrets playing it.

I can't really jork it to characters in games and media I enjoy non-hornily. It feels icky to my brain

guess I'll never play Genshin now lol

24
sh.itjust.works

I played genshin for like 2 months, trying to figure out what people liked about it. I muted the game to stop the anime noises within the first day, skipped every cutscene by day 2 because the characters’ mannerisms pissed me off, blocked online elements within a week because other players were deeply uninteresting, and hit a hard progress wall within a month of increasingly intermittent playtime. I left after a few weekly boss rushes began to remind me of RuneScape grinding.

Which is to say, you can freely play it. It’s terrible

19
lemmy.world

skipped every cutscene by day 2

It's very easy to get filtered. Get past the prologue and chapter 1 and the story gets significantly better, to the extent that the narrative and gameplay frameworks allow, and often exceeds the likes of Dark Souls in both story and lore.

Masquerade Of The Guilty is fucking cinema and I will fight anyone who disagrees.

2

I got to the lightning island and found the only interesting aspects of the entire game to be snippets of conversation from certain characters and floating around like botw. The philosophy relating to eternity and responsibility from some of the gods, enemies, and the former king (I think) of the fallen kingdom were about all I cared to listen to.

Gameplay 3/10- combat made me want to die. Movement was alright.
style 4/10- heavily reduced due to intolerable anime noises. Muted, 7/10.
Dialogue 2/10- I was deeply uninterested in most of their repeated jokes and maladjusted chicanery. Eyepatch girl, in particular, needs a second lobotomy.
Story 6/10- it’s a neat framework that they simply did not execute in a way that I could enjoy.

Overall, 4/10, not worth playing. If muting voices had been an option, I’d bump it up.

i could probably recognize most genshin characters without ever playing that half-assed game once

I played Genshin not as a Gacha but as an Action Adventure akin to BotW, and I really enjoyed it. It has some beautiful environments. When I started to play it as a Gacha, I lost interest soon.

See? Stop judging kids who wear Nirvana t-shirts without knowing it's a band

We're all guilty

sh.itjust.works

lol that was awhile ago that fad started. And yes I spent like 2 months talking to youngins o you like metallica/nirvanna/greenday thats coo.

And then not understanding why they didnt know what the fuck I was talking about. Dookie is my all time favorite album! Why are you confused about that statement? You didnt know you are wearing a dookie tee shirt?

9
lemmy.world

Maybe they were just fans of poo

I'm only realizing now how Green Day got a bunch of people to say "I love dookie" with a straight face. Fucking. Hilarious.

6

as someone who still doesnt not has finnancial means to play most games, I have watched at least 5 times more gameplay videos than actually played games, even indie games like slimerancher 2 just run so poorly on a cheap intel 12th gen laptop, it is great now at least having the oportunity to play some games thankd to finally getting a proper computer and not being stuck with my phone being my only device, but my old habits of watching 5 hours of gameplay of games instead of playing still strong

I'd never disgrace my first love: Terra from Final Fantasy VI. (Boxy lady!)

12

She's so innocent yet traumatized yet naturally kindhearted...

I couldn't ever imagine gooning to her.

Mog on the other hand...

8

I don't goon, I don't like the gameplay for most of them, and I only play trash games on my phone, no-where else. Have you SEEN the install sizes of the mobile versions of these games? I don't think I've seen ONE that didn't leave me wondering why the developers bothered.

When I've got Human Resource Machine, Really Bad Chess, Wordle, Sudoku and more, do I really need 30gb for 2B's enhanced jiggle physics?

9

What else am a going to do? The games I play don't exactly have characters who can easily be gooned to, the fuck am I going to do work it to an M3 Lee and Beep.

7

I've seriously thought about making a gooner game basically satirizing an extremely popular one that has zero gooning potential. Don't want to give too much details because I legit thought it could make a killing and I don't think anyone is working on anything similar right now
