In peertube how can I choose an instance and how can I have cross platform interactions??

idk how to have cross platform interactions.

Also, every peertube instance feeks very specific for my needs, am I supposed to just post the content on different instances? And even then what instance could I log in to? For example where would a viewer log in? I am not planning to only view content but still! Besides, does the instsnce I log in to could affect the communication speed with others? (I know they can like block eachother.) Anyways thanks a lot!

Proton alternatives?

So it's on this polemic stuff right? So I wanted to ask for some alternatives for both the VPN and email. Any other recomendations are also welcome! And I do understand I might need to start paying for a service. Thanks a lot!

Also, the only thing I don't know much about is me using rethink dns it seems safe ig, but yea, also uhh. I also use proton through wireguard so ideally it should include that or openvpn or just really good compatibility for all devices.

OBS xcomposite not working

So I can't record individual windows cuz... it's just dark and when I open it it just says I am on voidlinux but the logs really kinda just already say all that. the logs are: "Detected locale "C" with character encoding "ANSI_X3.4-1968", which is not UTF-8. Qt depends on a UTF-8 locale, and has switched to "C.UTF-8" instead. If this causes problems, reconfigure your locale. I think I read something about this and the answer was that it was not an OBS bug but a support request I think, don't really take my word for it. But are there any alternatives I could look into or any workarounds or anything?

I also think I need to setup some font packages and stuff since some symbols just appear as interrogation marks not only here but also for other areas. And of course just installing fonts does not work. I could probably set this all up eventually but it would be nice to get help with all of this. Thanks!

Esync not changing

Ok so I am on voidlinux. doing "ulimit -Hn" outputs "4096" And I can only move it down until 1024 or whatever with that command but temporally anyways. So I edited /etc/security/limits.conf and added "* hard nofile 1048576" at the end, but nothing happened, I've tried slightly different configurations of the file and still nothing. I have also rebooted multiple times so idk what's wrong.

Solved: First I was trying to change the number of open files limit or whatever apparently, second games still don't work, they're just as laggy and still crash but now without an error message in lutris specifically :thumbs up: Anyways I just followed this quote from the r/voidlinux subreddit “in /etc/pam.d/login add the line session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so to the bottom then do the same for the file associated with your DM i.e. /etc/pam.d/lightdm” and then rebooted or whatever.

i hibernated my pc and now it boots into a blank screen

yea. Voidlinux, I hibernated with "ZZZ", now managed to boot to it from grub from another distro butt none of the services work I think and I can't start a DE or start xorg or whatever. I tried removing the swap or turning it off ot whatrver and after I did swapoff it did seem to go away but then I had the samr problem and when I booted the same way the swap partition was on.

should i delete the swap partition and make another one later or...? pls help thanks a lot!

Idk what's wrong

okay so. First, some flatpak apps don't work and steam apps. "[3:0525/050733.777905:ERROR:bus.cc(407)] Failed to connect to the bus: Failed to connect to socket /run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory LaunchProcess: failed to execvp: xdg-settings" And then the first paragraph just repeats like 5 times for this app. It does not open I have no idea what /run/dbus/system_bus_socket is I know it is not a file nor a directory, it's just there when I do ls on the directory it could be a lik or something but idk about that, when I see it with properties in thunar it just says "kind:socket" so that makes sense ig. It says /etc/runit/runsvdir/default/dbus/run is in use by that socket too. besides that other apps like bottles open but just don't work (I think that's unrelated and a graphical issue tho idk), it does nothing when I try to do stuff and flatpak is full of interrogation marks despite me installing like a bunch of font packages. so idk Also wine is extremely laggy for some reason when it isn't on other distros on the same pc.

I also noticed something about dri3 so I searched it up and apparently I have no /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d idk if that's normal when doing "grep DRI3 /var/log/Xorg.0.log" it just shows "[ 15.639] (II) Initializing extension DRI3" when doing "xdpyinfo | grep DRI" it says "DRI2".

Thanks if anyone can help me cuz I am a bit tired of just "running blindly" because idk how else to say that, I just clearly have no idea of what i'm doing I mean.
