How about the users that are starting to use the thorn character everywhere?

I think it's like one guy. I have him blocked and I haven't seen it since.

Also of all the characters to insist upon, why no interrobang‽

sh.itjust.works

We often just put ?! at the end of a 'shocked' question type, so I guess that's where it would work?

Ex: "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT ‽

9

I'm almost positive it's one person who keeps making new accounts.

33

Acronyms are fucking bullshit.

Everyone gets "lol", but stop with the fucking bullshit. You guys have full keyboards. Not the shit we had with out 90's phones. Grow up.

25
feddit.org

abbreviations are a normal part of human language, and have been around since long before the 90s

9

They are right though, we came up with lol and stuff like that because texting on a keypad was tedious. Its not really useful in the way it was back then, its just stuck around from popular use.

5

Yeah but it got so much worse when that prick Bell came along and started pushing his fucking 'phone in the 1890s.

I mean that's Assassin's Creed for pretty much everyone these days, who even remembers Asheron's Call?

...

Is there another AC now? I haven't kept up

Ah fair enough, I have actually heard of all of those, but I've never played any of them. I think Assassin's Creed is the only one you can really use without mentioning the name first, but true, even then it's too ambiguous.

I was going to say people of low intelligence and no regard for others, but that's much shorter.

We can go longer: People who despise the entire point of communicating and language and better off just grunting like a caveperson

4

They dont despise it, they only use it to inflate their ego. They see communication as a tool to build themselves up. They literally never consider others around them. I call it main character syndrome because they treat everyone like NPCs.

For those looking for a translation -

I Think That: a bunch of Unidentified Flying Albatrosses.

You're welcome.

15

IMHO it would at least be nice to bring some of the older internet acronyms back.

6
lemmy.world

What about using idiomatic expressions without punctuation.

Shoot, again?

4
lemmy.world

It's a defence mechanism. I want to scare people away from trying to participate in a topic they know nothing about but feel like an expert in. Those that do know about the acronyms are worth the while.

Edit: I don't have autism.

3
lemmy.world

can you make a valid sentence using the same acronym multiple times but with different meanings?

3

Most users of LAME are lame unless they are LAME; and it's even more commendable when LAME.

fuck that here's the whole thing

smh, just because you're out of touch doesn't mean everybody else needs to be lmao.

CP has only one meaning and it's not "control point," "Cyberpunk," or "counter protestors."
