Made 3 new things I've never made before

Made shredded pork with garlic sauce (top left), salt and pepper tofu (top right) and some random cabbage recipe (bottom).

All three were good but I would say the shredded pork was my favorite of the 3, then the cabbage and the tofu last.

I think I would definitely make the shredded pork and cabbage again however the tofu wqs a lot of work and it wasn't worth the effort for me. I think for the effort I'd rather have salt and pepper fish.

I don't remember exactly which recipes I used but I will post some that look right?

[Release][v1.84.2] Local community stats

This release adds a new option when a community link is long clicked: Local community stats. It shows you useful information about a community. Personally I'm using this new feature to help me decide whether to block a community is worth blocking or not.

This release also fixes a lot of bugs. If I wasn't able to get to your bug fix in this release it will be fixed in a patch update.

Full changelog

  • Add a screen to see local stats in more detail.
  • Add local community stats screen.
  • Add a special case for searching for a person/community handle in the search screen. Searching for a specific person/community handle will now find direct matches if it exists. Eg. searching [email protected] will yield both the person [email protected] and the community [email protected] in the search results.
  • Fix an issue with loops not loading in app.
  • Fix a bug where changing the sort order does not work for multi-communities.
  • Fix a bug where the "go to" action button does nothing on comments in the search results screen.
  • Fix a bug where "mark post as read on scroll" will mark all posts on screen as read if the user switches to another screen. (The correct behavior is that posts should only be marked as read if the user scrolls it off screen)
  • Fix a bug where unread notifications are never shown and unread count not updating.

Update

I am doing a minor release with many QoL changes and bug fixes. They will be released as v1.84.2 (there were some regressions in v1.84.1, so skipping 1.84.1).

  • Add a setting to control whether the failed actions badge is shown or not.
  • Add more ways to delete drafts.
  • Add "scroll to top" as a quick action option on the post feed screen.
  • Improve comments loading performance.
  • Better support display names on the current account.
  • Fix some deadlocks on the post screen.
  • Fix an issue where switching accounts on the person screen can cause the wrong person's data to be shown.
  • Fix a bug where registration applications don't load on Lemmy.
  • Fix an issue where some conversation messages do not load.
  • Fix an issue where downloading larger video files can error.

[WIP][v1.84.0] Local community stats

Was gone for a week for business. Back now.

This release is dedicated to a feature I've wanted for a while which is personalized detailed stats on a community.

The main reason I've wanted this is because every so often I will encounter content in my feed that I do not want. When this happens I want a way to determine whether it's worthwhile to block the community where the post is from.

Local community stats aims to be one method of doing this. It will work by showing you personalized stats on a community so you can see your overall sentiment on a community so you can make an informed decision on what action you'd like to take.

I've not been looking at feedback for the app in the past month since I've been backlogged so heavily. I should be able to resume looking at feedback and working on the roadmap items again after this release.

Apologies if you've reported a bug or feature and have not heard back yet. I will get to it eventually.

Changes so far:

  • Fix an issue with loops not loading in app.
  • Add a screen to see local stats in more detail.
  • Add local community stats screen.
  • Fix a bug where changing the sort order does not work for multi-communities.
  • Fix a bug where the "go to" action button does nothing on comments in the search results screen.
  • Add a special case for searching for a person/community handle in the search screen. Searching for a specific person/community handle will now find direct matches if it exists. Eg. searching [email protected] will yield both the person [email protected] and the community [email protected] in the search results.
  • Fix a bug where "mark post as read on scroll" will mark all posts on screen as read if the user switches to another screen. (The correct behavior is that posts should only be marked as read if the user scrolls it off screen)
  • Fix a bug where unread notifications are never shown and unread count not updating.

Update

Had to do a lot of adulting in the past week so had to step away from the project again but I'm back. I am going through the backlog of posts now to address every post from the past ~month that I've missed. Apologies for the delays if you've reported a bug within the last month.

[Relese][v1.83.2] Support Lemmy API v4

This is a small release that took a huge amount of work.

For those who don't know the v1 release of Lemmy has been in beta for a while now. The v1 release of Lemmy ships with Lemmy API v4 with backwards compatibility with Lemmy API v3.

Lemmy API is the shared language of how clients (Summit) and server talk to one another. Lemmy releases are loosely tied to API versions. So for instance, Lemmy v0.19 (which is the version most servers use) only supports Lemmy API v3. Currently Summit only supports v3 of the Lemmy API. This release adds support for API v4.

This is mostly a future proofing measure since Lemmy v1 will still support API v3. Since Lemmy v1 isn't released yet it's likely there are still bugs in the API v4 support implementation as there were many massive changes. Due to this API v4 is disabled by default. Once Lemmy v1 releases and I can verify the app is stable with API v4 it will be turned on by default.

So basically this update doesn't actually add anything, yet.

Full changelog

  • Add support for Lemmy API v4.
  • Fix a crash when viewing users who voted on a post/comment on PieFed instances.
  • Fix a bug where errors encountered when downloading videos are reported as successes.
  • Fix a bug where videos using VP9 encoding fail to download.

Update

Changes released in v1.83.2. (v1.83.1 was skipped due to build issues).

  • Update PieFed APIs. This adds support for searching comments, viewing post reports and viewing private message reports.
  • Fix a race condition when loading inbox items.
  • Fix some other rare crashes.
  • Fix a bug where force refreshing search results will omit page 1's results and only show results from page 2 and beyond.

Finished my first Space Age run

Finished my first Space Age run. I capped it off by designing a "mega ship" (pictured). I'm pretty happy to end the game off here at least for the foreseeable future.

Some interesting things about my run:

  • 206h.
  • 0 trains built. I determined from my base game run a while back that I did not like the trains in the game so I decided to go against the grain and play completely train free. It wasn't that bad actually.
  • Was able to get legendary everything basically.
  • Able to maintain 40k spm. (Tested over 1 hour)
  • Decided to embrace the spaghetti. I tried to jump into my builds with as little planning as possible. No city blocks. No concrete paths. No trains. Only spaghetti.

Update on Summit development

Sorry I should have posted this sooner. I just wanted to give an update since development has slowed considerably.

I have been incredibly busy the past month due to family events (not bad just busy). It's dying down now so hopefully should have more free time but basically because of the events of the past month I have accumulated a long list of errands that I will attempt to burn down in the next couple of weeks.

After that I should be able to resume development on Summit. I would say thing should go back to normalish by mid July but maybe sooner if I work quicker.

Thank you for understanding.

Edit: Thank you everyone for the warm wishes.

Zha jiang mian

The recipe I prefer is a variation of https://thewoksoflife.com/beijing-fried-sauce-noodles-zha-jiang-mian/.

Also known as noodles with fried bean sauce. This is one of my favorite meals and it's a budget friendly dish so I ate this often as a kid.

The original dish is so popular that there are many many variations including Korean and Japanese variations in addition to other variants from different regions of China as well.

The version I like the most is the Beijing style which uses a lot of oil and it's key ingredients are yellow bean paste, sweet bean sauce and pork belly, served with wheat noodles and cucumbers.

[WIP][v1.83.0] Lemmy v1

Lemmy V1 is around the corner and Summit will need to be updated in order to support all of the new features. This is going to be a quite a bit of work so it will be the focus of the next release.

Changes so far

  • Nothing yet.

Update

I originally had some bug fixed done for this release in the WIP section however I decided to release them as a minor update instead. See https://lemmy.world/post/46998220.

Update 2

This is still happening, there is just a huge amount of work needed. I'm done supporting ~80% the Lemmy v4's API functions.

Update 3

Done supporting ~90% of Lemmy V4 API endpoints.

Update 4

Done supporting ~99% of Lemmy V4 API endpoints. The modlog endpoint ended up taking a lot of time. There are only 1 endpoint left to support.

Update 5

Preliminary support of Lemmy V4 API complete. There's going to be bugs but it's taken a long time to get here so I'm just going to release this as is and make it opt-in while I test more. Too tired today but will release tomorrow unless something comes up.

[Release][v1.82.7] F-Droid release & more

I want to officially celebrate the release of Summit on F-Droid.

Although the app has been available on F-Droid for about a week now, I waited until the 1.82 release F-Droid to make the announcement in order to get everything ready and updated.

Launching on F-Droid has taken a lot of effort so we are celebrating in the release notes. In many ways, the biggest project in this release is getting the app ready for F-Droid. This includes updating all of the links, graphics and websites.

Now onto the 1.82 release. This update brings more quality of life improvements. The big one is a much more powerful duplicate post detection system. It's never fun to see the same post twice so this feature aims to eliminate seeing duplicate posts forever (as long as you are on the same account). The original feature was introduced many versions ago but it was an experimental feature and it has never worked very well.

The other big change introduced in 1.82 is the inclusion of per-user scores. You may notice these scores appear beside usernames. They display the total times you've upvoted a particular user minus the times you've downvoted them. Credit to Voyager which I think is where this idea came from initially.

Full changelog

  • Add per-user scores in post/comment headers. Enabled by default. Can be disabled in settings (Settings > Misc > Per-user scores).
  • Add "Change feed" button to the top bar so it's easier to discover.
  • Greatly improve the duplicate post detector. Can be disabled in settings (Settings > Posts feed > Mark duplicate posts as read).
  • Change default for "hide banner if no banner" from off to on.
  • Change default community back to lemmy.world. Done for UX reasons since the changelog is hosted on that instance.
  • Fix a bug where the block instance button doesn't do anything on the instance information screen.
  • Fix gesture conflicts on the image preview screen.
  • Fix a crash due to the new PieFed comment reporting endpoints.

Update

Releasing an update to address some bugs. Update version is v1.82.3.

  • Fix a bug where the emoji selector doesn't show up sometimes.
  • Fix a bug where the ¯\(ツ)/¯ emoji is not escaped correctly.
  • Fix a bug where the alt-text field expects a URL when it should expect text.
  • Fix a crash that occurs when clearing local event data.
  • Fix a bug where the bottom nav bar shows up on the post screen when it should be hidden.
  • Add a warning message to the filter dialog if a "Match entire word" is on but the text contains more than one word or special characters.
  • Changed the default for per-user scores from enabled to disabled by default. Can be re-enabled in settings (Settings > Misc > Per-user scores).

Update 2

Noticed elevated levels of crashes. Releasing a patch (v1.82.4) to fix some crashes.

  • Fix some crashes.

Update 3

Fix more bugs. (v1.82.6)

  • Fix navigation bar sometimes showing/not showing when it should.
  • Fix a bug where read post state are lost when app is recreated in certain cases.
  • Fix a bug where card shadows are clipped in some screens.

Update 3

Pushed a release that broke the inbox so I'm fixing it. (v1.82.7)
