My home screens all looks like this

took the dog a while to get used to

I tried .... but does not work with folding screens, it requires rolling screens and those are not very practical

Mustn't it get tiring having to search through the apps alphabetically?

Also what does the button do?

6
lemmy.world

Nah I find I can get to everything quicker. The way the menu on the right pops out the names of the apps when you touch it has to be seen to be appreciated.

The button can do anything. I have it set to open my actual phone, i.e. to make a call.

I know this wasn't your addition but I really like Apple's Dynamic Island

It's great except when wanting to scroll to the top somewhere and accidentally opening the music player…

Same screen in Dark Mode:

I recently upgraded to Niagara pro for the theme and icons. I think I like it pretty good.

Home Screen. A fair few of my apps have swipe up or down gestures to open other related apps. I also have a 2nd page for the app drawer.

I also don't feel like sleeping....

Thanks! I had something similar with a different wallpaper and kind of stuck with the idea.

I put an analogue clock on mine too so I don't have to wear a watch on my wrist anymore. Idk my brain just finds analogue clocks easier to interpret (probably thanks to them displaying the time geometrically). I wish Android let you put widgets on the lock screen too

Lol, not really, I've just been a fan of the J-man even before I became religious and I like the fact he's holding a book, because "God teaches by the pen" and all of that. But thank you, TIL about monophysitism! 😅

I was reintroduced to religion after 20+ years of disliking anything related to it by my now wife. My own suffering just made it impossible for me to believe in a kind Creator (the so called 'problem of evil') since childhood and I was too literate and intellectually competent to eat up some Christian creed nonsense (confession doing anything good for your soul, 'faith without works', God being one but somehow also three [and there's a dove involved?]). 😅

I don't doubt this is real. Not for a moment. I've seen too many of your comments.

I have this one so my screen looks less broken.

it's good, helps me reflect sometimes - in addition to journaling

I'm struggling with depression so it helps me track that. It's dangerous how easy it is to forget you are depressed and get used to it.

I'm sorry that you also have to deal with it. Tracking helps to hold a routine and at least for me to look back and see trends - even lows eventually pass so this current one also eventually will.

1

Agreed. Fortunately mine has a clear cause and I'm working day by day to remove that cause

2

Always thought of this, "if my screen ever breaks i will put a one punch man wallpaper". turns out, when my screen did broke it was so terribly fucked up that not even that was viable.

2

Did a tarot reading from July 2025 to July 2026 and decided to keep it on my homescreen so I can always quick reference what my upcoming months are gonna be like.

4

I kinda like it, but fuck Xiaomi for disabling gestures unless you use their launcher.

Used Kvaesitso previously.

I love that cloud background. Your whole home screen looks graphically very streamlined

Hey, thanks! It's a photo I took almost a decade ago in New Zealand. Here's a link.

I also have a second "swipe" to the homescreen (with about as many apps), but I make a point to keep apps installed to a minimum, and everything else is not used commonly enough to justify a place on the homescreen. 95% of my app opens are probably Firefox, haha.

1

Using your homescreen as a bookmark screen (FF lets you make shortcuts) is definitely a life hack

Nothing, but a beautiful picture, which i like to change often.

I dont use my phone that much to have all the apps at quick access on home screen.

Woah that's unique! Do you have a tiny phone or did you just crank the scaling up?

1

Huge phone, big app icons.

I try not to use apps other than my browser for privacy reasons, but also I'm super easily distracted so I try to keep the apps I freauently use on my home screen and HUGE so I don't get distracted by other apps or bright colors.

1

I'm easily distractable so I have the scale cranked up and the color cranked down so I only do what I opened the phone to do. I actually have a dual screen device (extra display on extras of folding phone) so I don't use the top bar when I'm not in app, otherwise I'd care more that it wasn't legible on the homescreen.

2

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. But I can scale the app rows up in the settings. I don't have an issue though, but my app drawer has bigger icons if that's what you mean. Also I think I disabled the dedicated app bar.

Shoutout 4get, shoutout my homie Notes widget, Shoutout Marvis

Oooo, you're selfhosting. Maybe.

7/10, mimimalistic but could be way better if the icon theme applied to all apps.

I am selfhosting! And yeah, I actually forgot there was a theme on the phone/messaging/camera apps, the theme just came with the OS and I haven't bothered changing anything. The browser isn't themed, it's just the GrapheneOS browser Vanadium.

1

I have nearly 300 apps, some I access some of them through MIUI's drawer but most are here.

Also I hope I get around to sort it all around again as the folders includes app that I use multiple times a day and I don't access as much the home screen apps. And I should delete that UCCW widget, I don't read theses infos anymore

discuss.tchncs.de

It's an alarm that requires a QR code to be scanned to stop ringing. Otherwise I just disable it and fall back to sleep, even with the QR code I have to put it far away to make sure not to go back to bed

1

Ahh ofc. What I've found useful is for my alarm to play a spoken word internet radio channel. The constant flow of information gradually wakes my brain up.

2

No worries, it's a sarcastic name 😁 I wanted to avoid something long and boring like "communication" or "social media"

1

I guess, I downloaded a bunch of porn games (like 70) to see what happened.... And now I'm too lazy to delete them... (It's about 10GB ..)

5

It's bad android ports of PC flash games. I'm not sure what they're trying to simulate, because half of them didn't work. But I assume, it's the former, although there are many genres. Mostly it's just an excuse to pump ads.

Also if you still use Reddit the 3rd party app Red Reader is still officially supported

4

It's cool that you've reserved yours for widgets. Plus that earth is beautiful. Reminds me of Androids live wallpapers, which I think it might actually still have

1

Windows phone for life

There is more when I scroll down, but I figured this was enough. Rather show the live tiles working than the last few rows

1

I'm kinda surprised that people are so offended by a homescreen that they're downvoting.

Do you not like my arrangement? Or is there something about live tiles themselves (what? They're just like widgets)? What is it that has you downvoting over something so benign?
