My PC 10 years old this month and I really need an upgrade, I have a newer GPU so only need the rest of the fucking owl.

The biggest issue of course is the RAM PRICE, Do I just take the plunge and spend €1800 on 128GB of 6000MT CL40 RAM? Or do I pay more/gb for 64GB of faster RAM?

I'm buying to last me another 10 years preferably. I'll probably go for the latest top of the line AMD CPU and the best mobo/psu I can get.

I don't really have a fixed budget but I'm trying not to spend the next 6+mo worth of money on an upgrade.

Any advice?

I use it for work, I work in tech, I run a lot of memory heavy stuff, I use it for CAD, dev, gaming, etc. I'm constantly running at 90% ram utilisation on my 32gb ram. I'll copy what I said below:

I'm sitting at around 90% utilisation constantly on 32 and FF keeps crashing because I'm out of memory.

I work in the tech field, so it's sometimes docker, lots of CAD, games (often with said cad program and browser in the background)

Current specs: i7 7700k, 32GB DDR4, 2080TI

It's just, too much, so much bad and evil happening and I can't take it, nor can I look away.

I use these platforms to distract from the gnawing constant loneliness I feel that never goes away.

I can't spend more than 5 minutes without a video playing or checking some kind of media to fill the void.

I'm feeling so suicidal nowadays, but I'm stuck in this existence for the time being.

I love how corpos can just change the rules at will.

I just got myself some mini PC's and want to set up a k8s lab to strengthen my skills, I was laid off 8mo ago and haven't been able to find a new job.

I want to automate everything I can while building this and was just looking for input on how people might recommend I do it.

I was thinking of using pxeboot to install Debian using preseed to automate the installation.

Then maybe install k8s on VMs on the servers, but I'm not sure if I should do that or just keep it on the hosts themselves. They're decently specced. AMD Ryzen 3 2200 CPUs with 24gb ram and an SSD/NVME combo.

So, any advice for where I should start or tips/tricks?

This is highly annoying, I sometimes accidentally hit the Posts button at the bottom and it'll take you to the communities page, but there's no way to return to your feed, you have to choose one of the feed options at the top which returns you to the 1st page at the top of your feed. And when on the communities page, the back button exits the app. Either make the Posts button return back to your feed, or the back button or just have a back button please.

I guess they're just going to end up being really good but heavily overpriced like the rest of the FormLabs products.

So I've worked in IT for around 18 years now and in that time I've worked for 2 gaming companies, I started my most recent a year ago, but I'm wondering if I should just jump ship for the tech industry again, I'm now waiting for the layoffs in our business unit. I'm an immigrant living on a work permit and losing my job will mean losing the life I've made for myself over the last 4 years, and that terrifies me.

I'm looking for some help in a field that is super technical and I don't fully understand.

I'm planning on using a bunch of these seeed studio Esp modules for some home automation projects, especially because they have a lipo battery charger making it great for portable stuff.

The thing is the the ESP32s have U.FL SMD antenna connectors. Most of the antennas that you can buy with U.FL connections while are reasonably small, come with 50-150mm leads, which sort of makes the small size of the module a little less valid.

What I'd like to do is get a female U.FL SMD connector and make a small daugherboard with an 2.4GHz SMD antenna on it, for instance a Janson 2450AT42B100 or a Molex 479480001.

They go over the circuit board requirements quite thoroughly so I don't think designing it will be too difficult, but what I don't know is, they say that you need impedance matching on the circuit, and I see that there appears to be something that looks like it on the ESP circuit diagram, but I'm not actually sure if it is or not:

So my questions are:

1: Is this a dumb idea, having a direct plug-on SMD antenna?

2: Is that an impedance matchning circuit between LNA_IN on the ESP chip and U.FL-R-SMT-1?

3: If I can't get a female U.FL SMD connector, would using one with a lead and shortening it to make the daughterboard able to be much closer to the connector affect anything? Do I need to ensure that the lead length matches the wavelength at all?
