Sunbathing Blue Jay
He hopped down from the tree, spread his wings and plopped down. Here's a Cardinal from the other day doing the same:
Goobers.

A common fellow to be sure, but not one I had personally seen (since starting birdwatching) and certainly unexpected in my neighborhood first thing in the morning. I had no clue how big these guys got, scared the hell out of me at first 馃槄
Howdy Selfhosters!
A family member who does not live in my state recently got a new PC, and asked for my help in setting it up. Since it can't be done in person, I'll have to do this over the phone. Problem is, I don't really want to walk them through all of the steps (download Firefox, ublock origin, uninstall W11 bloat, etc) over the phone. I was hoping there exists a software that I could host on my Linux machine (I am able to port forward/host externally if necessary), and instruct them over the phone to download the "other end" (client-side) of the software so that I can remote in and set their PC up myself.
I checked out the awesome-selfhosted list and found that most of the remote access softwares are mainly for SSH servers. I did check out Guacamole, but I'm not sure I understand how to utilize the software. Any help and suggestions are welcome. Thank you everyone!
Love watching these two hop across the yard 馃槉
Meant to post this the other day, but we discovered that the cardinal pair that frequents our property has built a lil nest on the lady banks vines against the front of our house - featuring two little eggs!! I managed to sneak this pic while the parents-to-be were grabbing a snack at the patio.
Mockingbird flew to a branch right above me and posed for a picture. What a ham.
Southeast US. Gotta love the breeding season when all of the new and different birbs hang out in the backyard.
New lifer, and the first grosbeak I've seen. Fella was checking out the patio amenities before snacking on the feeder.
Southern US. Seen occasionally in the house. Sorry for no size comparison in the pic but it's probably a 1/10th of my thumbnail.
Southeast US. I've enjoyed watching these guys darting in and out of nest boxes all over our neighborhood.
Southeast US. Love these goobers and their silly call.
Is worth two in the hand. Or something...
Southeast US. Little guy was making some good noises, likely in response to the 3-4 other males making similar noises.
Hi gang! I've seen these icons for awhile, but I've always been curious on what they really mean. When I hover over these icons, the tooltip reads Very low reputation. Beware! But, this particular user's posts were all upvoted to some degree. Why would these icons be added if the user has posts in the positive? And why are there two of them?
This isn't some grand issue that needs solving, obviously, just curious about how it works. Thanks!
Heard we were posting pets so here's Bella snoozin' real good.
Southern US. Little dude was having a blast.
Hi Windows folks. I'm setting up a new laptop for a family member and it'll have to be Windows 11. The salesperson at the store obviously wanted to upsell us their security software, but I told him we'd just use Defender.
Is that still the go-to? Back in the day I used Malwarebytes, is that any good these days?
Any other debloat tips for Windows I might want to know? Thanks gang!
KitKat, owned by Swiss food giant Nestle, confirmed in a statement sent to AFP on Saturday, March 28 that "a truck transporting 413,793 units of its new chocolate range has been stolen during transit in Europe." The shipment, weighing around 12 metric tons, disappeared last week while heading between production and distribution locations, it said.
"We've always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat," a spokesperson for the brand said, referring to its catchphrase. "But it seems thieves have taken the message too literally and made a break with more than 12 tonnes of our chocolate."
Glad it was Nestle that got got. Fuck 'em.
