MAGA pol who introduced bill on ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ arrested

Summary

Minnesota Republican state Sen. Justin Eichorn, who introduced a bill classifying "Trump Derangement Syndrome" as a mental illness, was arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from a minor.

Police say Eichorn believed he was meeting a 16-year-old girl but was actually texting undercover officers. His arrest came just a day after he and four other Republican senators introduced the controversial bill.

Eichorn, who is married with four children, was booked into jail and will be transferred to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.

I'll always be bitter and upset when I see people snarking on Dodge, they fully deserve it but I just love their body styles and designs compared to most modern cars. The dodge caliber is the only wagon I've ever seen that made me drool and even though it's out of production I'm still considering purchasing one to this day for work equipment hauling.

Do you mean the Dodge Magnum? The Caliber looks like a Pontiac Aztec that got botox.

When Dodge released the Caliber, the first one I noticed was on a billboard, and from a distance I said "oh that car looks kinda cute" and when we got closer I was able to read that the rest of the billboard said "The all-new Dodge Caliber: It's anything but cute."

Oops.

7

I'll give you that. A lot of Dodge vehicles do look pretty badass.

It's too bad they have utterly garbage reliability almost across the board.

The new Chargers have been sick for years now.

Was this an Al Bundy thing?

2

They are, but so are the ads at every stoplight. It's funny the older I get how everything suddenly ends up on a spectrum that's waaay too easy to slide in any direction.

2

I dislike dodge, and was a long time honda mechanic, and I'd still love to own one. I think it more comes down to wanting a real full size wagon.

Once again, not a drag queen. We need to ban religious figures and Republican politicians from reading to children.

Modern conservatives lack the creativity to imagine plausible damning accusations.

They must draw from life.

When they hilariously try, we get "Jewish space lasers" and "pizza parlor child fight club rings."

Then they get angry that basically every creative and artistic field is dominated specifically by not them. When they get handed a budget to attempt creativity, we get preachfest garbage like "God's not dead 23" that spends 2 hours basically turning to the camera lecturing viewers about conservative grievances in the form of repetitive gotcha strawman scenarios like it's Festivus.

That's the problem with only hating, with only negativity, with only being against change. It's like trying to grow a flower by watering it with vinegar.

Everyone knows you should use Brawndo! It's got electrolytes!

11

I wonder if this was on purpose… word gets around in those circles. People know each other.

23
lemmy.world

That's not fair. Republicans just make mistakes sometimes. Sometimes they let a non-pedophile into their ranks accidentally.

25

You can, but no one would be interested because "it's just not realistic." This is almost entirely a meme at this point.

If there were an amendment to remove senators charged with pedophilia, Republicans would be in the minority.

Which makes you wonder if this was someone's blackmail stash on him and he pissed off the wrong people and it was released or did someone set up a sting to bag him once he started talking about this bill. I am all for whatever it takes to fight back.

-1

It looks like the sting was planned already and then he just so happened to introduce the bill on the same day.

I wonder how long before the fake org called "doge" seeks to defund any police anywhere that are catching pedos, because it is probably just "waste, fraud and abuse" to bust what are probably mostly qons.

Oh well. These people entered government willingly. They are the deep state.

6

That's why you have to keep asking them questions. Antifa did it? Why'd they get pardoned by Trump? They'll usually disengage or start hurling insults.

8

I’m not talking about politicians- I’m talking about all of them. The supporters. The base. The time for winning hearts and minds or “educating” is long past.

Californians are nice: oh, hey my lovely friend! Thankfully, POTUS can't pardon a state crime, only federal.

39
lemmy.today

He'll argue that the accused participates in "interstate commerce", which is regulated at the federal level, not the state. By imprisoning him against the will of the President, the state infringes on federal powers. Thus, the President's power to pardon extends to state crimes as well as federal.

They should include in the title he got arrested for trying to solicit sex for minors, not the bill.

I think even most republicans think pedophiles are bad.

What would be the effective outcome, but because this is the maladministration of lonnie and donnie, or lonvict, they'll give it a dumb "meme" name that spells out something a 12 year old can giggle about or some Orwellian name like Ministry of Protecting The Children.

12
lemm.ee

Isn't one of the goals of Project 2025 to implement the death penalty for pedophiles?

11

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

The law will not be used the way you think.

18
midwest.social

What's so strange about it is that it's impossible to be protected, yet unbound, by the law.

The only way it works is if a collective agree that someone is above the law. That would be what we call a "tyrant."

But the collective, can, at anypoint, decide "you know, why does the tyrant get to be above the law?" In ye-olden days, the Tyrant was often actually a strong man. A decorated military leader. Someone who could force others to do his bidding. But even Caesar would fall to the blades of the Senate.

It only works if somehow a person becomes so detached from reality that they truly believe they are somehow superior than all others. With modern medicine, we call that a delusion of grandeur. So, no matter what laws conservatives make, they will inevitably be bound by it, because they are still mortal humans.

4

There is a book that I wish I could remember the title of because it deconstructs fascism. The goal isn't fascism but cronyism. The in group is a concentric circle that gets smaller and smaller as you reach the top. Once power is concentrated, you dole out power based on your influence with the person at the top.

But because the in group is so small, you are more likely to have coups. It's why fascism often doesn't stay in power long because someone more power hungry will come along.

Putin's days are numbered. He will be deposed either by his death or through a coup. He can only escape one of those.

4

Someone has to be able and willing to enforce the law though. And the people have to be able and willing to remove officials who won't.

5
rockhardreply
lemm.ee

Probably a combination of factors. Consider that pedophilia and sexual predation are anti-social behaviors and that people who enter into higher/high level politics or business have anti-social tendencies as well. You can't run a district, company, city, state, country, etc. that require you to sacrifice for the imperatives you're seeking. You can't get bogged down by caring for people. You see them as a means to an end. Objects with utility.
