Mobile games are a mindsuck.

Recovering mobile game / social media addict here. I’m learning in real time that recovery is not linear. I happened to see a mobile game that seemed pretty interesting. So I downloaded it and allowed myself some time to play, figuring “what’s the harm?”

Well..during the gameplay I noticed that my mind wandered to my CPTSD triggers. Thankfully, before I became overwhelmed, I stopped playing and looked away from my phone. My mind soon relaxed and I was able to compose myself. I immediately deleted the game from my phone.

I’m making an effort to embrace the tech that I grew up with (retro games, CDs, mp3’s, etc) and to get off my smartphone. Now I understand why I feel good when I read a good book, and why I feel like shit when I let my mind wander on social media and mobile games.

I never want to experience that again. No more mobile games for me ever again. I hope this resonates and helps someone today. Please feel free to ask any questions about my digital minimalist journey! 🩷💕

Why won’t you let your dog say hi to mine when we’re out walking?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but every time I take my 12 lb small dog out for a walk and we come across another small dog, the other owner discourages the dog from socializing and keeps on walking. I can understand if their dog is intimidating, big, or dangerous. But surely, you can let your chihuahua or pug and my dog sniff each other for 30 seconds just to say hello.

I don’t want to misunderstand anything, so I’m hoping there’s a good reason for this. I do take him to our local dog parks to socialize with other dogs, but there’s something neighborly about letting our dogs say hi, and it makes me sad that it’s not a thing anymore.

Any thoughts on this are welcome. Thanks!
