I ordered a laptop from BB for an executive at work, they tried delivering it on a Saturday and texted me about it, offered to deliver elsewhere instead, so I'm like, sure bring it to my house. Then when they get there, it's a third party delivery service (not Doordash but like it) - woman and her boyfriend - hat out looking for a tip. Umm I didn't ASK for some weird tip-based delivery service, I thought they were UPSing that shit. I can't put tips on my corporate card, for laptop delivery fees?! So I looked like the asshole after they booked it across town. Haven't ordered from Best Buy again, what a terrible customer experience.

A 19-year old cis lesbian woman was beaten unconscious and robbed after she tried to use the women's restroom at a McDonald's in the US

The state will fail to accomplish anything meaningful in prosecution - a bad deal or bungled case. Plus there's the notoriety the case is already generating. She'll need to file a civil suit as well, and she'll need someone making sure everything is OK on her end (the attacker doesn't counter-sue for instance).

I've been the victim of hate crime, you think you're gonna get a justice boner and fight it to the core, but in reality the simplest/safest answer for the victim is to shut up and make it disappear. You're already traumatized, fighting is confusing and painful.

Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humans

Reply in thread

There are other causes here.

They've been talking for a while about how the low participation in dating by Gen Z women is because they're tired of being the entire support system for men experiencing a loneliness epidemic.

It's a lot of pressure for the women to be under, and so they're withdrawing.

I'm guessing this is one of the driving forces as well. Lack of real, emotionally intimate human connections around them. Many men are quite fucked in that regard right now.

The White House Rose Garden was replaced by pavement

If you're going to get nitpicky we could focus on how much heat the concrete retains vs plant life which can absorb and use the energy. All the people with concrete or rock yards around here are super hot, my dog and I have to run by in the summer. Paving vast surfaces is a poor alternative to landscaping. The soil underneath will dry and the animals, insects, microflora, etc will all be forced out and that part of the earth will just be dead.

But really it just looks dumb and Jackie planted some of those trees.

Yep my dog needs 1+ mile in the morning and at least 2 miles in the afternoon for optimal health - bowels, muscles, etc. He's 7 now and acts like a dog half his age.

Then some of my friends are like "I try to take mine around the block at least once a week" and I am sad for their poor dog.

Hard to find good dogsitters who will actually take them on long walks too.

People on Ozempic Are Drinking Way Less

Reply in thread

It’s definitely more than that. Some people get a sense of well-being and compare it to an antidepressant or anxiolytic. Some people just lose the craving to drink. It’s cut back on the amount of weed I smoke, I just don’t feel the need as much. This is all independent of body image.
