Florida Republican Demands Hurricane Aid She Tried to Block

I went over to my sister's house recently to cook hamburgers. She told me not to cook hamburgers for my nephews because they won't eat them. Just to play it safe, I asked my nephews if they wanted me to cook them hamburgers. They said no, "hamburgers are gross."

After I finished cooking, I got everyone served their burgers, sat down, and then one of my nephews asked where his burger was. I told him that he said they're gross and didn't want one. He started crying and saying that he wanted a burger. So, to play it safe, I cooked up two burgers for both of my nephews and toasted the buns just like I did for everyone else.

Then they got upset that I ruined "the bread." I asked if they wanted it not toasted. They said yes.

I move their patties to untoasted buns. They pick at the crust of the bun and say that they don't like it and that hamburgers are disgusting.

So, I fixed them plates of their favorite foods.

At this point, their attention spans were fully expended and they pretty soon left to watch tv and play without eating much.

Come bedtime, they cried that they were hungry and needed some snacks. So they ate their snacks and went to bed feeling like this was a perfectly normal way to live their lives.

They were 5 and 3 at the time.

This is what Republicans are. Fucking toddlers who throw a tantrum when they don't get what they want and say that they don't want it when you give it to them.

Anon meets a good man

When I lived in New Jersey, I'd sometimes visit my sister in NYC and usually we'd hit up a comedy club. One time, Jim Gaffigan wandered in and did 10 minutes, totally killed it.

During his set, he mentions that he's a regular person and just wants to be treated the same way we'd treat any of our friends. I gave him a high five as he exited near my table.

A couple weeks later, I see him walking down the street, I say "hey Jim!" And he responds "hey..." like he was confused why he didn't know me. The next time I saw him randomly on the street, I asked if we're still on for lunch on Tuesday. He stopped walking and asked "what?" I kept waking and shouted, "great! See you on Tuesday!"

The following Tuesday, I made no attempt to see Jim Gaffigan for lunch the same way I would for any friend who didn't give me their number or make a true attempt to confirm plans.

After my dad died, I moved back to Texas and haven't seen Jim Gaffigan since. So now I talk shit about about him behind his back like I would for any unreliable friend.

Tldr: had three brief interactions with Jim Gaffigan, dude is incredibly patient and pleasant. 10/10, would invite him to lunch and not show up again cuz he's an unreliable asshole of a friend.

What a lovely thing to do.

Morgan's Wonderland was named after his daughter, Morgan, pictured on the left in the top picture. At one point, he bought the house nextdoor to my mom and turned it into a transitional group home for young adults with special needs.

We'd frequently see Morgan at the house, helping out with different projects. Morgan's father seemed to be an incredibly kind and generous man who understood that money=power or at least opportunity and recognized his financial privilege.

When he finally decided to sell the group home, he sold it to another company who shared his principles of helping kids with special needs.

Now, my sister has kids whom she and my mom take to Morgan's Wonderland. Her kids are not significantly limited by any special needs, but the park is so accessible that is one of the few places where parents with young toddlers or infants can take their children on rides or let them roam relatively free at the splash pads.

All-in-all, I'd say that Morgan and her father have been incredibly positive influences on San Antonio and the community.

Israel brands Palestinian detainees with numbers on their foreheads

I know a Holocaust survivor who is horrified by everything going on in Israel and Palestine. I also am related to deceased Holocaust survivors and their children, grandchildren, cousins, etc. all seem to think this situation is pretty awesome. They call the Palestinians animals and other terrible things and talk like it's all political and say that people who disagree with them are brainwashed and unintelligent.

I can't be 100% certain, but I think I now understand what it was like to sit at a table with burgeoning Nazis and Nazi-supporters and I'm sad to say that I failed the test. Yes, I argued, I disagreed, and I walked away, but I'm starting to get why everyone didn't just attack the Nazis in Germany. What do you do when you recognize a Nazi but that Nazi helped raise you and didn't seem to be a Nazi until they suddenly doubled down on the wrong choice?

The solar system is doing this

Which makes you go like this

And while it's possible to make your way towards the center, it's difficult

And this requires less work
