I end up there from Google a lot, mostly because the other search results are usually ads or clickbait. I haven't posted or logged into my account since rif went down.

Why does it say "pending" when I try to join a community outside of my local Lemmy instance?
Reply in thread
I've got some "pending"s on kbin.social communities, which I don't think is defererated? Is that a bug or do some communities just set up that way?

That's why no one with half a brain downloads the official Reddit app.
Oof, that's grim. Looks like it's trying to go full Facebook.

What are your thoughts on bots reposting links to Reddit posts?
I think it might be okay in the early stages of a community when they're trying to grow a user base, "build it and they will come" sort of thing. But spamming more content than the community can keep up with is just annoying. I think they should be tweaked to only post a certain number of times per day so there's a chance to get some meaningful engagement on each thread.

Don't say "autistic people"
Damn this page took a long time to load what with the influx of new users today, that was a long time sitting with my blood pressure rising before I got to the /s lol

The Boost for Lemmy app preview looks promising for RIF refugees
Looks good! I've been using Jerboa on list view and finding it pretty close to my old experience on rif.

What features or functionalities from Reddit do you miss or wish were available on Lemmy?
Right now I just want the bug-free stability, and the well developed communities for every niche subject imaginable, but I'm sure those will come in time.
I'm using Jerboa and the only thing I miss is the "view context" button on my notification messages, and the option to "view parent comment" when viewing an individual comment. Searching and linking between instances needs to become more seemless too, and maybe better integration with things like Mastadon, although I don't use it personally.
I also think up/downvote history being public is a terrible idea and would like to be able to disable that in an account's privacy settings, idk if that will ever be possible.
(Edit) Also the ability to migrate your account and posting history to a different instance, so that users can easily vote with their feet if their home instance gets defererated or makes an unpopular decision. Again idk if that will ever be possible or not

Did anyone dislike Final Fantasy XVI?
I'm only part way through (a bit past bahamut) so I'm not fully qualified to comment on the game as a whole, and I'm avoiding reviews until I'm finished (also haven't played 14 or 15). So far I'm really enjoying it because it just has that Final Fantasy charm that squeenix are so good at. I love the world, the story is good (if leaning a bit too heavily on game of thrones for my liking), and the characters are likeable enough. Combat got fun once it clicked. That said...
There are a LOT of really obvious things to criticize. Over tutorialized, incredibly boring fetch quests, and progression systems that are wierdly linear and restrictive. It's frustrating because some small tweaks could make it so much better. Let me explore and discover quests for myself instead of witholding them until the game decides to make them available and then spamming me with notifications. Disable the on-screen quest markers or at least let me turn them off (the "animal instinct" feature is neat, don't need more than that). Let me upgrade my weapons past +2 and specialise them with elemental synergies so there isn't just one "correct" gear set to use at any given time. Give different merchants their own unique items to sell. Jill is an interesting character but is underused, that whole descent to the first crystal with Cid, and the cutscene that followed, she was barely given a single line. The titan fights are great ideas but not always fun to play, and too reliant on quicktime events which I thought we'd all agreed kinda sucked several years ago so idk why squeenix didn't get the memo.
But anyway yeah it's pretty and sometimes fun and I can pet the dog so it still gets a thumbs up from me I guess 乁( •_• )ㄏ

3rd party apps having issues since the attack?
Thanks for the advice everyone. Cleared app data for Jerboa (and uh, found the login button.. /facepalm) and that fixed it. Liftoff I had to totally reinstall but now seems to be working fine \(・◡・)/

Any other good ps5 games you could recommend in particular? I'm also toying with getting one second hand, but struggling to justify it just for ff16.

I find just searching BestOf and scrolling through the results is the easiest way on Jerboa. Doesn't always work for new communities though. Hopefully something they'll fix in future updates.

Why does Playstation hold a special place in your heart?
Mainly the memory of the startup music on the PS1. I hope whoever designed it got a fat raise.

What Android app should I use to browse Lemmy?

Any chance someone could ELI2 how to install this (on Android)? I've only installed stuff from the Play Store before.

What are your favorite games to replay?
The Civilization series has consumed more hours of my life than I care to admit. I'm also fond of going back to Age of Mythology and the old Sierra game Pharaoh every few years.
I don't normally replay story focussed games, I think the only one I've completed twice is Final Fantasy 7.

What will you do if reddit undoes API changes?
I'll keep using Reddit for as long as Reddit is Fun works, but I'll keep Lemmy installed too and browse both. Idk for sure if decentralised platforms are the future or not, but I figure every time Reddit, Twitter, YouTube etc do anything unpopular there will be new waves of migration. The biggest barrier seems to be confusion over how to get started and how instances work with each other, but if the process gets more streamlined over time I could imagine each wave of migration getting bigger.

I'd somehow not heard of Blood Dragon, gonna have to try that out once I'm done with FC3. Keen to try Primal at some point too, looks a bit different.

I've been playing Far Cry 3 on the ps4 (my first Far Cry game, alternating between really enjoying it and tearing my hair out at the janky "platforming") and nearly finished Terra Nil on PC, been revisiting Frostpunk a little bit too. But mainly I'm wondering if the upcoming FF16 release will be the excuse I need to finally buy a PS5 (•̯͡. •̯͡ )
