Unreal is or more likely was a decent engine for any games that fit into a common template. It's easy to learn, has a powerful rendering engine, good support and reasonable monetisation. From what I've heard it's fallen off a lot since 5 but it's still possible to actually optimise if you know how and have a reason to. Unfortunately a lot of companies are incentivised to just not. That being said Godot is catching up fast and if you know enough about graphics you can get something looking decent in it instead for a much lighter footprint.

What other great opening lines do you know?.
Speaking of Iain m banks, the paragraph about an outside context problem is one of my favourite openings he's done. "An Outside Context Problem was the sort of thing most civilizations encountered just once, and which they tended to encounter rather in the same way a sentence encountered a full stop"

Not normally, that wouldn't make much sense. It's easier to just say you signed an NDA and anyone with sense knows you're not allowed to talk about the work.

Disney is gouging customers with a near doubling of subscription costs.
Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm changing the annual piracy subscription from nothing to 0 on the 31st of October. If you carry on then you'll end up exactly where you're headed. Thanks and have fun.

I thought there was no way I could hate a Cybertruck more...
I still can't believe this is actually a real car. It's beyond stupid, it's what I'd expect someone to come up with in a zombie apocalypse with welded sheet metal or something.

How am I supposed to go on?
Honestly if someone is referring to themselves as "high value" anything then it's pretty clearly a low value thought. Doesn't really matter who they are.

Trump’s war on clean energy just killed $6B in red state projects
I don't understand how anyone could dislike solar panels, like bro it steals free energy from the fucking sun, it's not as fun as fission but it's still pretty good. I know everyone loves turbines and burning things but you still have to get the things to burn with fossil fuels. Meanwhile you can just put magic squares on every surface and get free power.
