Yeah, shittiest shit stains figured out they could blast on Tik Tok. And Tik Tok sees no problem inserting these videos between “why do we use cinnamon on everything” and “why is the sky blue”
Just look at this thread. How many people in this thread are acting superior to her because she has an only fans or because of some other stupid reddit reason. The people are acting "high valued" and superior even if they dont say it. She's literally using this comment to tell readers that these peoples opinions have no influence on her life, and all its doing is making them more upset. To me, that's why this comic is funny
My wife tolerates a little of my bullshit. But that tolerance may be because she can’t tell if I’m just being weird or not. And she knew I was different when she was dating me and yet she still married me.
I love seeing these comics. You can always count on like 20 white males showing up asking how this is funny, that it's a strawman, that pizzacake is terrible, blah blah blah.
The simple thing is, they are comics that give a flavor of the times. Males ARE acting this way. Is it a caricature of a scenario, sure, but that's what a fucking comic is. Does it have to be "funny" in order to be a comic? No, there are political comics everywhere. Why does pizzacake only get this sort of ire? Is it because she's calling out white males on the absurdity of their actions, and they don't like it?
My advice? Chill TF out bros. It's a comic. If you don't like it, maybe you should talk to your buddies when they start acting like Andrew Taint's mouthpiece. Toxic masculinity is a real issue. Sorry that it takes a fucking pizzacake comic to discuss it...
Crazy how many folks can't scroll past something they aren't interested in. And not thoughtful critiques. Just whining really. Their delicate eyes witnessed it, thus they were compelled to come make a comment.
I don't think I'd ever find it appropriate to whine in the comments of a user's post, over a post breaking no rules. I have, and would... just scroll by.
I don't see "No Pizza Cake" in the rules... why would someone think it would just never show up?
I think it's basically internet law at this point, if Pizzacake is posted, cranky men must make it known that they find her (and her comics) cRinGe and mEdiOcRe and also she's a mAnHaTer (dontchaknow).
So you honestly think people who can’t stand her, subscribe to her OF?
Do you spend a lot of time on Fox News? What about Teslas? Do you have one? No? Big fan of Christianity? No? Well, that MUST mean you go to church! Right?
What I posted is what we like to call illustrative sarcasm.
And what is funny is that you think my illustrating your bad joke is a representation of what bothers me without ever having known who I am or what I’m about.
lol
I basically made you illustrate the argument against her by your own example.
I judge her on what she has said and done. You’ve judged me on who you need me to be so your opinion appears to be valid.
I'll be honest, I kinda wanted lemmy to not have the same mentality as the audience of r/comics who just straight up hate all men. But it looks like these comments are kind of a warzone. I wonder if the mods from that sub have any power here? They defend her from even polite and constructive criticism.
Bro, I wouldn't call this "hate all men" content. If you think all men (or even a majority of men) are like that guy, you need to rework your thought patterns.
I was similarly disappointed. This kind of humor isn't funny at all. It's just a made up scenario to trigger people. I can't prove that it's b8 but, if it's not, it's damn close.
Are you? I haven't whined on this post, so that's a weird accusation to make. Methinks you're projecting, sorry your delicate eyes witnessed an opinion you don't like.
From the comments, it seems the artist herself isn't well liked.
From knowing nothing about the artist, but having seen a huge bulk of these comics: Maybe they're incels. 🤷🏻♂️ These do tend to be about toxic masculinity and just bad male behavior in general. It's like seeing a Republican hating someone because that someone they hate calls out Republican bullshit. Considering the vagueness of the hate expressed in the thread, I am leaning toward this being the actual case.
Or maybe because she threatened illegitimate DMCA take downs of parodies on r/bonehurtingjuice resulting in mass censorship of any criticism of the fact that one of her comics was insensitive to victims of male sexual assault.
Yeah, no. A male SA survivor expressed sincere perspective, claiming the original comic insensitive. It was the top comment before it was removed with many other responses. Just read the posts linked in the comment below the one I shared. It's not incel garbage (mostly), she's an intolerable Karen. She's got the mods censoring that sub, it's one of the reasons I left reddit. (I've been banned multiple times for expressing these facts.) They ban people for being critical. I think hating her for being unfunny or having an only fans is dumb. On the other hand, hating on her for being an unapologetic asshole is fine. She's earned it.
They reversed my ban from the comics sub after appealing.
It's still extremely problematic that this being painted as incels vs pizza. She has had bad takes on free health care, male survivors, and equating all criticism to misogynistic haters. She doubles down and never argues in good faith.
I really like BHJ. It's fun and chill. She just didn't like that people were being critical of her takes. The mods were actively removing hateful content and responses. They expressed willingness to help remove any offending content.
Now, you can't even mention her name on the sub without threat of ban. It's ridiculous that she'd try DMCA against something so clearly fair use. Weaponizing it like that isn't even legal. The mods couldn't be bothered to fight it though.
I politically agree with her mostly and find some of her comics sincerely funny, but she's still being a dick.
Being a misogynist overbearing male asshole makes one unfuckable. They are the probably bitter about having that obvious truth pointed out to their dumb asses.
For real. Their ideaology is so twisted. They think that in order to attract women, they should be a what a man's idea of an attractive man is. And instead, being what a woman would find attractive is somehow... gay? Like, I just don't get it, like there's a very fundamental misunderstanding of what it is they are trying to do. Very square peg in a round hole situation.
Huh, that comic and the responses makes me realize how much people can't notice their own blind spots, including within the comic itself.
Like in this section with people saying it's exaggerated or nobody actually talks like that (because they don't ever perceive it in real life and it seems to ridiculous to be real), and the comic referenced in your link where she says if men were responded to that way, because she apparently can't see that it is how men are responded to for many of those things, because she's so used to seeing women as the victims of that stuff perpetrated by mostly men (which is reasonable! What situations would she see the opposite?). What's telling, though, is the way one side pegs her as a misandrist for it and shit on her work and herself for it, and the other side pegs those for being misogynist for taking issue with her (though, in fairness, some are and will hate on anything by a woman discussing problems for women).
Basically, I feel like this is two groups yelling past each other and being upset about the same issue: gender-based mistreatment. But another key thing is... well, the guys who happen across her comics should recognize that it's a comic equivalent of TwoXChromosomes from Reddit: it's by a woman, largely for women, and you should either skip it or read it for a glimpse of a perception you normally don't experience, not something to argue over. And the women, just like with 2X, should take this stuff with a grain of salt (especially when someone presumes to know what men's experiences are). Stuff is exaggerated to pinpoint an issue, but you shouldn't let it poison your view of the world (or men).
Basically, I feel like there's value in comics like PizzaCake's, but the heavy commenting should be expected, not hated on. The most value people can get from it would be hearing other perspectives without insulting them for having a different one than your own. Except the actual misogynists (and misandists), they can fuck off, but I think it's worth giving the benefit of the doubt to start.
well, the guys who happen across her comics should recognize that it’s a comic equivalent of TwoXChromosomes from Reddit: it’s by a woman, largely for women, and you should either skip it or read it for a glimpse of a perception you normally don’t experience, not something to argue over.
So, to cite the devil, as men should not interject in women's spaces when misandrist tropes are being normalised there, so women should not interject in men's spaces when men are normalising misogyny.
I don't know about you but I don't think that's the solution to society's issues. In fact, we should have a standard of both sides policing their own spaces against harmful tropes.
Honestly if someone is referring to themselves as "high value" anything then it's pretty clearly a low value thought. Doesn't really matter who they are.
You forgot her threatening to sue a subreddit for critizing and making fun of her comics. There's a reason why some people don't want her comics here, and that's because she's toxic as fuck
The only people mentioning her OF are guys like you who get riled up when someone does sex work to pay their bills. Please tell me where she so relentlessly advertises her nudes in her comics and where people in this thread "simp" (and I don't mean defending the fact that she has one) for her OF.
"Criticism = incel" is a great, quick litmus test for identifying shitty people.
The irony is that the vast majority of people who use "incel" as an insult also tend to dissonantly believe that value judgments of women based on virginity are immoral, lol.
I'm happy to be honest, I agree with some of these (obv not the bitch slut or nazi ones). You need another square pointing out how the r/comics mods defend her to a kind of insane level, and definitely give her preferential treatment over other comic artists.
consistent criticism that hits each of those nine points on every single PCC post doesn't denote incel behavior.
it's still pretty pathetic though, that none of these incels have the self control to ignore a post and go into a blind rage when they see a comic. Only to feel the uncontrollable urge to berate an artist that clearly isn't on this platform. like, who are they trying to convince? sad.
the bingo card is mostly entertainment for myself just so I can keep laughing at them while these comics keep getting posted.
I'll probably make more every time I see PCC get posted.
From my experience men often underestimate how often women face weirdos. While the whole conversation might happen only in authors head the initial comment of the guy is quite a regular thing. It is a form of bullying. The rest of the conversation might happen in the authors head only, but it's sad that women have to face such behavior in the first place IMO. If you don't think such conversation happens at all, you might get enlightened by the everyday sexism project, the related (audio)book, or just ask a friendly woman around you if they ever faced it.
https://everydaysexism.com/
Yep, I think the comic was called talk. Here's another unedited pizzacake slide that shows how women act towards men who've done nothing wrong. This one is extra credit because, to her audience, the guy in this is the villain:
Its a call out the her haters. Look at this thread and how many people think theyre better than her for what ever reason. Shes telling them she doesnt give a shit about their opinion
She's probably not even married, among others, but is still playing into the prescribed gender role to troll the masc even harder. OR, she is married, but probably her relationship has some elements that are still considered "niche" or "deviant" by society at large. Or, maybe NONE of that is true, either, which is yet another layer relating to assumptions people make based on the behavior and self-expression of others
There's no joke. People seem to enjoy feeling either superior or outraged or both and the name of the game is user engagement. That's how you end up with this type of thing.
Some men think women care about "value" of people when dating but instead women are either not looking for a relationship or not as objectifying as these men
The punchline is that women now use this dumb "value" idea to filter out who to even associate with in the first place, by just avoiding any guy who mentions this shit
This is better imo, part of the punchline here is that she's already married and is just fucking annoyed by this guy hitting on her in the most disrespectful way possible
The punchline is entirely self-referential. Or rather, there isn't a punchline. This is a really basic exchange as could be found in the real comment sections of basically any woman posting photos of herself online.
Except that the person who draws this comic uses it primarily to advertise her OnlyFans, so somehow she's connected annoyance with the constant promotion of her terrible joke-free comics with the same thing that that means all criticism of her is incel fury and not, yknow, people wanting comics to be promoted for how good they are rather than how entrenched her subscribers are.
I see now what everyone's talking about, without really broaching the subject (without sounding totally incel). This sums is up nicely, although even including that she does OF will make some people call you the incel. At any rate, thank you
According to these commenters and bingo cards anyone who criticized this artist is an incel. To me she just makes mid borderline lame/cringe comics. Was happy not seeing her stuff after leaving Reddit lo and behold shes back with comics denoting imaginary scenarios without any punchlines. Go ahead and check a bingo square and call me an incel her work sucks.
Why is it that everytime I see this artist nowadays it's just a preachy kill-a-strawman comic? I remember them being funny back in the day, what happened? Did they change, did I? Am I mistaking a shite copycat for an artist I remember fondly? Is this what senility feels like? How was your day?
Probably just because she's constantly on the front page of Reddit. I had blocked her there which solved the problem for me. But if she starts getting reposted a lot here there's no escaping it.
Not to downplay the fact that there are some loud mysogynists. But there are legitimate artistic crituques that shouldn't be lumped in with them.
Can we please not bring pizza cake comics over from reddit? They're so mid they aren't even funny. Strawman comics that show off the author's frustrations.
I just went through the last 10 days of posts in the community. This is the only PC one that shows up in that time frame. Other artists have multipes in that time. So, less than once a week... guess there are different ideas of what is spam.
Any normal human would go, "Whatever" and move on.
But not this person. They wanted to let people know that they have been visually assaulted, made up a story about seeing it too much, and then even says "I'm blocking you!"
It's such a stupid satire by a sad person who can't address valid criticism and who feel that their only recourse is to make up a fantasy.
Staw man/Fantasy: Guy telling a random woman on the street, who happens to be married, "I wouldn't even date you". The strong and independent woman answers with sarcasm.
Reality: The woman is a single mother with 10+ past partners who has failed to secure a good father for her child. She puts herself online and gets scrutinized and criticized.
This is not a defense of particular internet personalities, who may or may not deserve criticism on their own. Rather, it's to point out that these comics are stupid, and don't address valid criticism that's out there that need to be addressed properly.
Staw man/Fantasy: Guy telling a random woman on the street, who happens to be married, “I wouldn’t even date you”. The strong and independent woman answers with sarcasm.
This is one of the most prominent parts of manosphere ideology, and they are not quiet about it or shy about sharing it. We used to call it "negging". This comic is pointing out the absurdity of toxic men thinking they are too good for most women.
Reality: The woman is a single mother with 10+ past partners who has failed to secure a good father for her child.
I have no idea what the reality is for this cartoonist, nor do I care, but you've managed to make three misogynistic value judgments in one short sentence, which is kind of impressive in a sad and pathetic way. First, there's nothing inherently wrong with being a single mother. Second, a woman's worth is not determined by the number of past partners she's had, a standard which is never applied to men. Third, securing a good father for her child is not the be-all-end-all goal of a single mother. Raising her child(ren) is. This can be done with or without a man involved.
This is not a defense of particular internet personalities, who may or may not deserve criticism on their own.
Maybe not, but it sure comes off as an endorsement of their values.
Rather, it’s to point out that these comics are stupid, and don’t address valid criticism that’s out there that need to be addressed properly.
So a comic strip didn't address sexism in the specific way that you approve of, and you think the proper response is to degrade the cartoonist as a whorish single mother who can't find a good man?
First, there’s nothing inherently wrong with being a single mother.
Single motherhood is not easy, and I have sympathy for any woman who has become a single mother with no power of her own. The critique is not aimed at single motherhood, but rather at women who make (selfish) decisions in life that leaves the children without a father. It cannot be understated how damaging that can be for her children.
One reason why I said that certain internet personalities deserve criticism on their own is that they advocate for men engaging in promiscuity and cause the same problems that these personalities claim they dislike.
Second, a woman’s worth is not determined by the number of past partners she’s had, a standard which is never applied to men.
Yes, it's a factor that men will judge a woman by. It makes sense, because a more extensive past will more likely affect a future relationship.
Men should be held to a higher standard as well, I don't disagree with that.
Third, securing a good father for her child is not the be-all-end-all goal of a single mother. Raising her child(ren) is. This can be done with or without a man involved.
It has been shown that children who are raised with a single parent fare worse than with both parents. It's clear that single motherhood is not something to be desired, neither for the children nor the mothers themselves. Many single mothers are complaining, on the internet about this, so it's strange that you are trying to defend them by claiming that there is no issue to complain about...
So a comic strip didn’t address sexism in the specific way that you approve of, and you think the proper response is to degrade the cartoonist as a whorish single mother who can’t find a good man?
I wasn't talking about the cartoonist. I was talking about the made up characters that supposedly reflect reality. When someone sees this comic, it's most likely that they don't think about who drew it. They will likely see the comic in isolation from the artist, just like I did.
Yeah, uh no, not unfamiliar. See the above comic. You are in it and it's got your panties all in a twist apparently.
People who need some professional assistance will do that shit you're talking about.
I was emoting how sick you make me feel, when one of you randomly creeps up. And especially when you think anyone cares about your weird ideals, for any gender.
Oh my. Well since I only get on here periodically, I think YOU should get your Very Own Personal Tag!
Then, if you're still around after I unblock you, I'll get to see your fancy lil tag if you shownup, and remember how sensitive you got over a comic. That you coulda' just ignored ffs.
You've never seen the "I wouldn't even date you" negging, where adult-aged boys try to trick women into pleading their case to the kid?
I think I go to the bar 2 or 3 times a year, and I've seen it several times. I'm glad that doesn't seem to be as much of a thing in the gay community, at least that I've seen.
It depends on who the male character in the comic is supposed to be. If it's in that setting, then yeah I can imagine it happening.
I was thinking about MGTOWs and internet personalities who use words like "high value male/female", and my interpretation of this comic is that this is supposed to be satire of them. If that's what the comic artist was going for then, I believe my criticism is deserved.
If it's referencing immature men saying “I wouldn’t even date you” to women they actually find attractive, well, I haven't seen it myself but I can imagine it happening. That's however not what I was thinking about addressing this comic.
The comic is a bit ambiguous about what it's talking about specifically.
Thanks, saved me having to write that. There is a lot of valid criticism women can level against "the modern man", depending on the culture they live in. But this is not it. I have never heard of a guy claiming to be of higher status and cussing off a woman who rejected him. Maybe we sometimes think we're higher status than a woman or whatever, but then again we do that with other men too. It's a human thing, not a gender thing. Women most definitely categorize men into lower and higher strata subconsciously too, if nothing else.
"I, as a man, have never encountered this scenario myself. Therefore, it is completely made up and reason to be further misogynistic." Is all I saw there brother.
I'm glad to hear from someone else who is seeing what I'm seeing.
The sarcastic strong and independent woman vs a stupid man meme has nothing to do with reality whatsoever. The worst part is that it's masking some serious issues society is dealing with.
Yes, because comment sections on Lemmy/Reddit/Social Media are a good metric for what happens AFK. We saw that when Lemmy/Reddit perfectly predicted the crushing loss of Donald Trump.
Oh wait...
I'd suggest going out more and hanging out with real people.
We saw that when Lemmy/Reddit perfectly predicted the crushing loss of Donald Trump.
As I recall Lemmy/Reddit was telling people how important it was to vote, because Trump wasn't guaranteed to lose, and if he wins he's going to become a dictator.
Seems pretty accurate to me.
But you seem to have a pattern of not actually listening to what people are saying so I'm not surprised you got that wrong.
I think they're referring to the online experience. Every single post about some "woman who does something intelligent / skillful", with enough attention (and it doesn't take much!), will contain guys being absolute shits.
Seems like the confusion can be attributed to assuming the discussion was limited to "being outside".
I've been approached by men who say I'm wearing too much makeup and that men don't like that. That I should smile more if I want a boyfriend. That my clothes aren't very flattering and it's unattractive to him.
Like, for all your talk of "go outside" you don't seem to know what life is like for women outside.
Not excusing ignorance but it is wild how different the experience of the average man or woman can be just existing in public. It makes sense to me that a man who is largely a basement dweller would have no first hand exposure to that sort of behavior.
Hearing a girlfriend express a lack of confidence because she wouldn't get accosted kind of fucked me up. A moment of realization that the way the world is is so drastically different from the way I want to believe it is, I didn't know where to start.
I try to build a habit of reacting to feeling upset with behavior by thinking up a situation that could lead me to act in the same way, but I really struggle to imagine what would make someone inclined to approach a stranger on the street with this kind of comment.
Totally unrelated, but I've seen comics from this artist before and they've always given me weirdly unsettling vibes. I can't really pinpoint if it's the dialogue or the art style.
Mine? America. I even live in a very blue "progressive" area. But I have friends in the UK that have similar experinces. Frankly, why would that even matter? This sort of thing happens all over.
I mean. Okay? Maybe? But that's not really the point?
I'm just trying to address how unrealistic you thought this comic was. But it is a accurate depiction of a regular experince for many women's lives.
Honestly it seems like you're just trying to "win" the discussion by correcting others. When women talk about the problems they face, it's not helpful for you to go "That doesn't happen".
If you were even vaguely representative of Scandinavians, I'd steer clear. Luckily, I have family in Norway and Finland, so I know you're just an ass and are full of shit.
I am not a women but if you go outside with them you will see it.
Any time a woman stands up for anything that a shitty man disagrees with they say the same shit. Every time.
That was a quick referral. So you're just changing your argument to be whatever disagrees with the person who who replies to you instead of having a coherent point.
You’re right of course! But also there’s a big difference between real criticism and just saying something is “dogshit”. In fact you criticized Joe Rogan’s stuff properly, by drawing attention to the negative effects it has on people. We could go even further and pick out specific cases. (Though there’s no need to in this case, I agree with you.)
On the other hand, shitting on something with no reasoning just makes you a hater. I work with several comic artists professionally, and a common thing they ALL see is a nontrivial percentage of commenters who simply disparage everything. This is not because the content is inherently bad, but because all these trolls can do is destroy, not create.
Them saying Joe Rogan's podcast is "toxic, diseased, and damaging to society" is not better critique than the other poster calling this comic dog shit. Both are just statements that provide no argument or reasoning behind the statements. Sure they could back it up with examples why it is so, but so could the other commenter, which would make either of those comments valid criticism, but without they are equally good (or bad) criticism.
I think it’s fine because we were operating on an implicit set of shared knowledge. Not every communication needs to be a research paper.
I have no understanding (implicit or explicit) of why the original commenter hated this comic, and clearly that’s the case for the vast majority of the voters here.
Providing 2-3 lines of explanatory context is hardly a research paper, but enough to illustrate reason behind a simple statement.
AFAIK, the author of this comic is somewhat of an asshat that exercises varying degree of censorship on a comic strip subreddit, based on their personal beliefs.
like i replied to the original comment that person is complaining about, she's had some really dumb takes but is usually in the right ballpark. those dumb takes were also cases where she doubled down and yeah, that subreddit is basically a safespace for their superusers/content creators.
there is no substantive difference between my comment about rogan and that guys comment about this comic. only your opinion is coloring how you take it.
you and every single person upvoting you are just lemmings wearing a different team's jersey than the idiot lemming above.
if anything, we need more haters at this point, because y'all dumb af.
Exactly. The NSFW stuff came about from demand, not because she was pushing it. It ended up being very successful, so she kept doing it. It's weird how angry people get that someone would post nudes.
It's for wh€n you hat€ someth*ng so much that you treat it as a sluπ. If you don't like it that's fine but as people who dislike pizzacake should do move on or block it.
Yeah, on this topic I feel like she’s in the ballpark. My girlfriend and I game in the same spaces but we don’t always announce that we are together IRL for privacy sake. And we are both very independent people.
The amount of weird dudes she’s ran into that have used “high value man” or “high value woman” is absolutely more than one. They’re pretty common to bump into in online spaces.
The last time she ran into a problem with a dude like this—she read me the chat as it was going down. The guy was clearly into her but couldn’t handle that she was taken and had no interest. So, this random dude proceeded to call me a cuck (hahaha), asked if I “knew what she was up to” (gaming? lol), and that no high value man would want her! He did this in a public gaming space too and about 50 people thankfully dog piled and ratioed him into oblivion.
Oh well! I guess she’s stuck with “her low value cuck man” who makes her coffee in bed every morning and with whom she raised a cute and healthy family with. She’s allowed to do whatever she wants and her male doesn’t even try to control her. How horrible! She’ll never recover!
These dudes are dangerous in numbers. Which is why they deserve and need to be mocked mercilessly until they fuck off or get therapy.
I generally agree with her opinions, but there's more to thinking a comic is good than pointing at it and going "wow i think that too." They always just seem like super generic "relatable" jokes, and it's crazy that they always get 50 billion upvotes.
The only comic of hers that I've found morally objectionable was years ago now, and framed around complaining about her kids.
It had thousands of downvotes (on reddit) and all the comments were calling her out for being entierly responsible for her situation as a parent, and telling her to suck it up and step up because bitching out her kids like that was damaging them, unproductive and absolutely not funny.
Out of the thousands of comic panels of hers that I've seen, that's really not a bad track record at all.
Wait, so- in a different discussion where you removed your downvoted comments that were arguing something similar.. you were right, but here where the same point could be made, it’s wrong? Let me refresh you, because the you didn’t remove the one that had positive voting:
If nazzis and I agree 1+1 makes 2 that doesn't mean we're all Nazzis.
So if we change “nazzis” (Nazis) to conservatives….
Well, I guess we finally see what happens when the pot meets the kettle, don’t we.
Lol. Dog shit comments like this being posted on reddit was a good reason to leave that shithole.
I'm not a fan of her comics, I just don't find them very funny. But the level of unconstructive hate she gets is absurd. Just move on if you don't like the comics. If you really dislike them, just block the user or community. It's not hard. Grow up.
Yeah, the virtue signaling is at an insane level, but the author never seems to take their own advice or take it well when anyone points out their blind spots.
What kind of narcissistic fuck refers to himself as "high value man"
It’s taking the piss out of Andrew Tate and the gullible guys that he’s convinced are superior to women.
From all the trending news articles, ten year old boys who got access to tik tok
it's definitely not just the ten year olds that think this shit.
Mentally, they're all still ten-year-olds.
Yeah, shittiest shit stains figured out they could blast on Tik Tok. And Tik Tok sees no problem inserting these videos between “why do we use cinnamon on everything” and “why is the sky blue”
iirc, doesn't china explicitly not allow such shit on their version of tiktok? so it's just letting america cut their own throat basically?
They're probably just milking the market.
Just trying to get em while they're young.
I still have both kidneys, so I'd say I'm pretty "high-value"
So, if a date says you're "potentially a great match", clarify "organ donor or personality match", okay?
Gestures wildly at the men, many in positions of power, around the world, who very obviously would do that.
Same vibes when guys call themselves kings, or girls call themselves queens.
A manosphere twat, that's who.
Yea, it's kind of a shit show. When I posted there were no other comments yet.
Leon Musk, for example.
Let me guess, someone who’s such an egregious self-important A-hole that they are unfuckable? But I’m just guessing.
Narcissus was always trying to dodge annoying suitors, so I don't think he'd want to call himself high value in that context.
The kind made of straw
Seriously -- my wife takes 0% of my bullshit, and that's such a great quality. Just sayin'.
And yet they subscribe to her OF
No, they don’t.
So you honestly think people who can’t stand her, subscribe to her OF?
Do you spend a lot of time on Fox News? What about Teslas? Do you have one? No? Big fan of Christianity? No? Well, that MUST mean you go to church! Right?
Where do you people find this broken logic?
What I posted is what we like to call illustrative sarcasm.
And what is funny is that you think my illustrating your bad joke is a representation of what bothers me without ever having known who I am or what I’m about.
lol
I basically made you illustrate the argument against her by your own example.
I judge her on what she has said and done. You’ve judged me on who you need me to be so your opinion appears to be valid.
i mean, the best punishment for bad art is lack of engagement.
I don't think pizzacake is a troll (as in makes bad comics so it gets negative engagement), but here we are.
People complaining about her in the comments actually helps her.
if you don't like it, just move along, don't give hold her in your head like that zen story about crossing the river with a girl.
So just scroll past it if you don't like it?
Feeling called out?
Are you? I haven't whined on this post, so that's a weird accusation to make. Methinks you're projecting, sorry your delicate eyes witnessed an opinion you don't like.
This comic is neither funny nor thoughtful. I’d say it’s getting the critique it deserves.
I found d it funny. It's almost like funny is a subjective thing.
Who is pizzacake and why do so many commenters dislike them?
From the comments, it seems the artist herself isn't well liked.
From knowing nothing about the artist, but having seen a huge bulk of these comics: Maybe they're incels. 🤷🏻♂️ These do tend to be about toxic masculinity and just bad male behavior in general. It's like seeing a Republican hating someone because that someone they hate calls out Republican bullshit. Considering the vagueness of the hate expressed in the thread, I am leaning toward this being the actual case.
Or maybe because she threatened illegitimate DMCA take downs of parodies on r/bonehurtingjuice resulting in mass censorship of any criticism of the fact that one of her comics was insensitive to victims of male sexual assault.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bonehurtingjuice/comments/1ggn4a6/pizzacake_posts_are_now_banned/
Yeah.... Based on all the relevant info and links there, I definitely don't think the hate is actually based on "illegitimate DMCA" takedown requests.
Edit: just read the convo
https://www.reddit.com/r/bonehurtingjuice/comments/1ggn4a6/comment/lurmced/
literally reads the thing they linked and still doesn't agree with them
"Bro just read it until you agree with me."
Just read it again, but harder. Then you'll agree!
Don't they lock your ability to make new accounts when you get banned?
Toxic PCC fans strong on Lemmy already? This community is a lost cause
"It's about journalism, dammit!"
I have no idea what their deal is but one comic sure did cause a lot of butthurt.
She's very reddit
Have a good read, it’s interesting if you like manufactured drama for the sake of publicity.
I saw that thread and honestly wanted to comment something like this, but I thought it would be better to let it go unsaid.
And she refused to even acknowledge that she might suffer from the same blind spot she is accusing others of.
Edit: the archive link : https://archive.is/xfVPD
So, to cite the devil, as men should not interject in women's spaces when misandrist tropes are being normalised there, so women should not interject in men's spaces when men are normalising misogyny.
I don't know about you but I don't think that's the solution to society's issues. In fact, we should have a standard of both sides policing their own spaces against harmful tropes.
The art is incredibly bland, the points they make are very surface level, and the artist is an awful person.
So many people think they're owning the libs or whatever by posting them.
Some people just seem to find low hanging fruit to their tastes.
No idea why, though if I had to guess, it’s probably because it takes no effort to understand any of it.
Like how children play with blocks. They’re easy.
That's a very good way of putting it.
Probably misogyny.
I've honestly never encountered this artist and don't know any of the drama around them.
Can I say her art style sucks just to win the prize for a bingo though?
You can go ahead and cross off not funny, lame, and looks like AI while you're at it.
Weird how people get so parasocially attached to others, to the point of whiite knighting
They do this every time someone posts a Pizzacake comic, it's very strange.
thou doth protest too much!
I couldn't give a flying shit about the artist.
I just enjoy poking at the incels that clearly feel emboldened to flame the threads every time PCC gets posted.
I mean, it's literally every single post. It's getting old and boring. So, I made the bingo card to spice the turd stew up that y'all make.
is it not hot enough for you? don't worry, I'll make it extra spicy for you next time 😘.
What's old and boring is PCC's fan army defending her and her mediocre comics (while simping her OF) at every turn, being just as toxic as her.
Make it spicy how? You gonna sue me like PCC tried to sue a subreddit for critizing her comics?
The only people mentioning her OF are guys like you who get riled up when someone does sex work to pay their bills. Please tell me where she so relentlessly advertises her nudes in her comics and where people in this thread "simp" (and I don't mean defending the fact that she has one) for her OF.
"Criticism = incel" is a great, quick litmus test for identifying shitty people.
The irony is that the vast majority of people who use "incel" as an insult also tend to dissonantly believe that value judgments of women based on virginity are immoral, lol.
Yeah, but to be fair, the threads linked here from r/BHJ are Chernobyl-level toxic, and they seem to think they're the victims.
I'm happy to be honest, I agree with some of these (obv not the bitch slut or nazi ones). You need another square pointing out how the r/comics mods defend her to a kind of insane level, and definitely give her preferential treatment over other comic artists.
Legitimate criticism of someone isn't incel behaviour bruh
you're right.
consistent criticism that hits each of those nine points on every single PCC post doesn't denote incel behavior.
it's still pretty pathetic though, that none of these incels have the self control to ignore a post and go into a blind rage when they see a comic.
I think I saw three of them in the comments already!
Don’t know the artist besides what hits the front page here
Isn’t it kind of fucking awesome that douchebags are getting owned?
I'd say four of these are accurate.
I feel like this is one of those conversations you make up in your head and it's kinda cringe to write it down.
Actually it is a regular thing among the asshole "manosphere" crowd (i.e. the pathetic fucking losersphere).
This made me chuckle out loud thanks for sharing! Do you mind if I share it in ![email protected]
Turns out, lemmy has a massive misogyny problem going on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At first, I thought people were exaggerating by calling her comics a strawman, as the situation mentioned in the comic above happens too commonly.
I did a little digging and found this deleted thread.
https://archive.is/xfVPD
To my surprise she turned out exactly like people she seems to be calling out.
Edit: added url
Edit 2: She didn't respond and went radio silent on people who shared their experience and called her out.
Edit 3 : Found this in the same thread
Wow, some folks need to remember that online life isn't real life...
Please, go touch some grass before you scare some normie by talking about your favorite/most-hated web comic.
pizzacakecomics has actually accurately portrayed the way men are treated before:
First panel of that comic here
I see you, dutifully trying to cover all the slight and misinformation in here with proper attributions and context.
It must be exhausting.
Thanks for effort, and don't forget to breathe and keep hydrated. Thanks for trying to hold community together.
The context is that pizzacake knows how men get treated and then tries to say that it's all hypothetical.
Ah. And I thought the artist had actually made a good point.
You think the treatment of men by women is bad? Wait till your whole family dies, and then other men tell you to suck it up.
Or tell you to "keep the peace."
Is this genuine and unaltered? I'd have assumed it was an edit.
Yep, I think the comic was called talk. Here's another unedited pizzacake slide that shows how women act towards men who've done nothing wrong. This one is extra credit because, to her audience, the guy in this is the villain:
Full context to that panel:
How does she look more reasonable when taken out of context?
Because you can excuse your shitty behaviour to anyone for anything if you make enough excuses to yourself.
Guilt free being a cunt. It's not your problem you're a cunt to someone, you're innocent!
Since we're adding context, I'll also point out that her community largely views the last guy as worse than any of the first guys.
As someone who used to be a guy.. this hits
It's even better in it full context
I wonder if you've really never seen this panel in its original context, or if you're just a troll. My money is on the latter.
Why does her actually interesting work never get posted here?
Truthfully she doesn't have a lot of interesting comics, most of it is very mediocre.
Burn the witch! To the town square
Damn this comic has L A Y E R S
I'm only reading one layer. What are others?
Its a call out the her haters. Look at this thread and how many people think theyre better than her for what ever reason. Shes telling them she doesnt give a shit about their opinion
Yeah. That's the one layer. I'm not seeing any others.
The fox has many clever tricks, but the hedgehog has one big trick.
a misogyny onion
Whats the joke here?
There's no joke. People seem to enjoy feeling either superior or outraged or both and the name of the game is user engagement. That's how you end up with this type of thing.
The green lady thinks "who'd pay for her nudes?" means "I won't date you"
The fuck are you on about?
I didn't mean to attract incels with my comment
Probably about PCC author having an onlyfans
Huh? I dont care who made the comic im just wondering what the actual punchline is.
Some men think women care about "value" of people when dating but instead women are either not looking for a relationship or not as objectifying as these men
The punchline is that women now use this dumb "value" idea to filter out who to even associate with in the first place, by just avoiding any guy who mentions this shit
I guess i just don't like these type of comics. It's akin to someone posting "Haterz r my motivatorz!" on facebook circa 2011
That is basically what she does, yes.
🌝 in this meme I portray myself as the chad and you as the wojak
I read all the comments and I still don't understand what makes this comic interesting
Are these Questionable Content characters?
lemmy users when they see a lukewarm webcomic (they can just block the community)
i enjoy pizzacake! glad to still see her work here
Oh good lord…. It’s going to be r/comics all over again.
Prepare…. For litany!
Lemmy got a bit worse lately sadly
Truth to be said Lemmy has negative resistance to bad actors due to its nature and implementation.
If we treat social media like stock market then fundamental analysis of Lemmy does not bode well for long term investment so to speak.
Or to put it yet another way. Lemmy is less shitty than reddit and that says a lot about how enshittified and unusable Reddit is in 2025
Probably just because she's constantly on the front page of Reddit. I had blocked her there which solved the problem for me. But if she starts getting reposted a lot here there's no escaping it.
Not to downplay the fact that there are some loud mysogynists. But there are legitimate artistic crituques that shouldn't be lumped in with them.
Yup. This checks all of the "that is definitely how people talk"-boxes. It's like an invented dialogue meets a fantasy answer.
Can we not have AIop being upvoted to the top? Thanks.
Can we please not bring pizza cake comics over from reddit? They're so mid they aren't even funny. Strawman comics that show off the author's frustrations.
Can I please stop seeing this crap on my feed?
One, who was comparing it to "the best comics"?....And two, what does that have to do with the subject matter?
I'm pretty real sure nobody was comparing themselves as superior to Charles Schultz or Gary Trudeau
Your life sounds stressful. Or hypocritical.
Indeed, it's not The Family Circus nor The Lockhorns...
I don't know why political comics are so annoying. It's like even if I agree with the creator's political views, I still don't find them funny.
Political memes are usually funny, though. You'd think it would be the other way around, because comics take more effort to make.
Instead of becoming an incel, you should first consider acting like the woman in this comic when somebody doesn't want to date you.
I really hate their comics. Never anything original.
I really hate scrolling through comments to find ones like this. Never adds to the conversation.
How does someone going against the popular opinion not add to the conversation??
You really didn't see what I was doing there, huh?
Whoosh!
Blocking this community for pizzacake spam lately
I just went through the last 10 days of posts in the community. This is the only PC one that shows up in that time frame. Other artists have multipes in that time. So, less than once a week... guess there are different ideas of what is spam.
Any normal human would go, "Whatever" and move on.
But not this person. They wanted to let people know that they have been visually assaulted, made up a story about seeing it too much, and then even says "I'm blocking you!"
For a moment there I thought you were talking about PC.
This ain't an airport, we don't care about your departure.
Cool story bro
Okay, and?
This is one of the most prominent parts of manosphere ideology, and they are not quiet about it or shy about sharing it. We used to call it "negging". This comic is pointing out the absurdity of toxic men thinking they are too good for most women.
Maybe not, but it sure comes off as an endorsement of their values.
So a comic strip didn't address sexism in the specific way that you approve of, and you think the proper response is to degrade the cartoonist as a whorish single mother who can't find a good man?
Dude. You are the guy in the comic.
Yes, it's a factor that men will judge a woman by. It makes sense, because a more extensive past will more likely affect a future relationship.
Men should be held to a higher standard as well, I don't disagree with that.
I wasn't talking about the cartoonist. I was talking about the made up characters that supposedly reflect reality. When someone sees this comic, it's most likely that they don't think about who drew it. They will likely see the comic in isolation from the artist, just like I did.
Just, eww!! Fucking eeewww!! 🤮
Sorry for the unfamiliar opinions. Do you need me to call a doctor?
Yeah, uh no, not unfamiliar. See the above comic. You are in it and it's got your panties all in a twist apparently.
People who need some professional assistance will do that shit you're talking about.
I was emoting how sick you make me feel, when one of you randomly creeps up. And especially when you think anyone cares about your weird ideals, for any gender.
I think the problem is that you think I'm arguing in bad faith, and I'm not. Nor is anything that I said that controversial.
No offense, but I think you really need to touch some grass.
Oh my. Well since I only get on here periodically, I think YOU should get your Very Own Personal Tag!
Then, if you're still around after I unblock you, I'll get to see your fancy lil tag if you shownup, and remember how sensitive you got over a comic. That you coulda' just ignored ffs.
By who? Where?
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2930824/
That's like the one thing in his rant that he's not wrong about
Oh great...the 4channers are here...
Wrong. Try again.
Stop. Get some help.
Take your own advice, kiddo.
Next, you're going to tell me that a snail doing cocaine isn't realistic?
No, no, shh, I want to believe.
You'd have made a valid point if you stopped half way through.
You are free to disagree, but I don't feel I would have been able to complete my point without the second half.
You're probably in good company then, but should still strive to do a lot better.
I'm glad to hear from someone else who is seeing what I'm seeing.
The sarcastic strong and independent woman vs a stupid man meme has nothing to do with reality whatsoever. The worst part is that it's masking some serious issues society is dealing with.
Today in things that never happened:
Or maybe it would happen in the US. I wouldn't be surprised anymore.
Either you never seen the comment section of any post ever, or you the dude who makes these kind of comments.
You're not from US, but somehow you know what hanging out with real people is like here?
This happens literally every day. lmao
Really? So people randomly approach you on the street and proclaim they'll never date you?
YES. Literally yes.
You're speaking for yourself, I presume?
sick comeback bro that must go over really well in your middle school
What country?
Mine? America. I even live in a very blue "progressive" area. But I have friends in the UK that have similar experinces. Frankly, why would that even matter? This sort of thing happens all over.
Same in Italy x 100.
America. Typical. I would like you to come to Scandinavia, then. You might get a culture shock.
I mean. Okay?
I live in Norway. While it is less prevalent here than elsewhere, please understand that it still very much exists.
If you were even vaguely representative of Scandinavians, I'd steer clear. Luckily, I have family in Norway and Finland, so I know you're just an ass and are full of shit.
Guess what country the comic artist is likely from...
I am not a women but if you go outside with them you will see it.
Any time a woman stands up for anything that a shitty man disagrees with they say the same shit. Every time.
I think you got something a little backwards.
Just want to note this bloke took ten minutes to respond and this is the best they came up with.
Yes, because Lemmy is the most important thing in the world. I'll reply in my own time. Not yours.
Boooooring.
Try asking any female friend if they can relate to this comic.
Why don't you also ask him to end world hunger while you're at it? He has equal chances at both.
Given everything, I'm guessing they don't have any.
They’d need to interact with a woman on a personal level to be able to accomplish that.
I'll ask my work colleagues in the union club. I'm sure perhaps my colleagues from Arabic countries might relate, but that's about it.
Oh, sweet summer child.
So you agree that is does in fact happen?
I said might. What's more true in Arabic countries is that women aren't allowed to be approached for most reasons.
That was a quick referral. So you're just changing your argument to be whatever disagrees with the person who who replies to you instead of having a coherent point.
My point is this doesn't happen. That point hasn't changed.
Pick a lane.
You know this is a comic, not a news article, right?
Yeah? The comic is making a statement, no?
Wait until you learn that cats don't really like lasagna.
This dog shit comic being spammed on *eddit was a good reason to leave that shithole
You’re welcome to make your own comic if you think you can do better.
now now. that's just a stupid stance to take. you don't have to make media to be critical of it.
or do you have to make a podcast to say joe rogan's slop is toxic, diseased, and damaging to society?
"This is a dog shit comic" is not a critique, though, is the thing. It's just jerking off in public.
Sure they could back it up with examples why it is so, but so could the other commenter, which would make either of those comments valid criticism, but without they are equally good (or bad) criticism.
exactly.
I find that highly unlikely. It’s far more profitable to just do NSFW if that’s your goal.
If anything the NSFW posts are a way to monetize the actual thing she wants to draw, which are normal comics.
Exactly. The NSFW stuff came about from demand, not because she was pushing it. It ended up being very successful, so she kept doing it. It's weird how angry people get that someone would post nudes.
So what? Are you such a prude that this insults you?
I don't think simping for online personalities and influencers is particularly healthy, and it's one of the last things I'd defend.
It ain't about the porn, more the intent to sell porn behind the guise of a reddit comic.
Kinda like when SrGrafo was making loli art. (don't make me post it)
That's strange, because I'm only aware of the porn because of you, not because of the comic.
You're the one advertising Internet porn here.
So?
You've made a point. The fanboyism and simping is so deep, there's nothing you can do but block the content.
It's for wh€n you hat€ someth*ng so much that you treat it as a sluπ. If you don't like it that's fine but as people who dislike pizzacake should do move on or block it.
Well something similar happened that haunts my childhood till this day.

"Self-censorship" like when PCC author threatened to sue a subreddit for critizing her and making fun of her comics
Say the n-word then
The great thing about lemmy is that if you don't like a post, there is another one under it.
I don't see what's dogshit about it. Maybe you just don't like it?
Fits the current comic btw.
she's had some real shitty opinions but she's generally in the right ballpark.
I'm doing my part. 🫡
Actually, I missed this thread.
I generally agree with her opinions, but there's more to thinking a comic is good than pointing at it and going "wow i think that too." They always just seem like super generic "relatable" jokes, and it's crazy that they always get 50 billion upvotes.
low hanging fruit is low hanging fruit for a reason. it's accessible.
Honestly, who didn't?
Me, I'm always right
The only comic of hers that I've found morally objectionable was years ago now, and framed around complaining about her kids.
It had thousands of downvotes (on reddit) and all the comments were calling her out for being entierly responsible for her situation as a parent, and telling her to suck it up and step up because bitching out her kids like that was damaging them, unproductive and absolutely not funny.
Out of the thousands of comic panels of hers that I've seen, that's really not a bad track record at all.
she also downplayed male rape a while back. and doubled down on it.
Ah, ok yeah I didn't see that one. That changes things s bit.
I guess you should just leave instead of posting shit comments.
I don't think this is the right place for you then either. Maybe try X or "Truth" Social?
Excuse you. Liking pizzacake is not a prerequisite to be a sane normal person.
IKR, that's like the ultimate reddit opinion to have. 😂
So, if someone disagrees with your opinion of PizzaShit, they’re somehow a conservative?
Jesus fucking Christ. This is truly r/comics Al over again.
Pot: Meet kettle.
Jfc. You can't make this up
Wait, so- in a different discussion where you removed your downvoted comments that were arguing something similar.. you were right, but here where the same point could be made, it’s wrong? Let me refresh you, because the you didn’t remove the one that had positive voting:
So if we change “nazzis” (Nazis) to conservatives….
Well, I guess we finally see what happens when the pot meets the kettle, don’t we.
Lol. Dog shit comments like this being posted on reddit was a good reason to leave that shithole.
I'm not a fan of her comics, I just don't find them very funny. But the level of unconstructive hate she gets is absurd. Just move on if you don't like the comics. If you really dislike them, just block the user or community. It's not hard. Grow up.
we don't want you here
Fun fact: no one is forcing you to read comics you dislike! If you don't like a post, you are allowed to scroll past it.
You sound decaffeinated.
I'd suggest 4chan as a more suitable alternative buuuuut...
Yeah, the virtue signaling is at an insane level, but the author never seems to take their own advice or take it well when anyone points out their blind spots.
