Mamdani calls AIPAC ‘monsters’ in rally ahead of NY primaries

Reply in thread

If it gets to a point where Jews are leaving your country to escape antisemitic violence, who’s the monsters?

LMAO, the people who leave are getting discounted houses/free land stolen from LIVING families who are now homeless. There are so many fucking reports, documentaries, and interviews about this, spanning back to the 19-fucking-70s. The Nakba is a real historically analyzed event. Fucking Helen Mirren has a quote about what she saw:

Mirren said of her experience in Israel at that time:
I witnessed things that were wrong. I witnessed Arabs being thrown out of their houses in Jerusalem. But it was just the extraordinary magical energy of a country just beginning to put its roots in the ground. It was an amazing time to be here.

Who's the monster? Look in the mirror, "space cowboy". From a Canadian instance no less: you exist in a server on stolen treaty land, and you're support other's land getting stolen. What else is new.

Israeli Jews are mostly European and Americans, you can look up the census.

Israel was created as a way for Europe to not give the European Jewish people their land, wealth, language and influence back in Europe after CENTURIES of oppression. But yeah, it's the Muslim's fault. You don't even understand your own history at this point, you just want to hate Muslims, even when majority Catholic countries like Spain are calling out Israel.

But history is history.

LMAO rich coming from someone who is defending a country that was apparently promised to a group of people THREE THOUSAND YEARS AGO. Check your own hypocrisy.

Today in 2026, 2/3 of racial attacks in my country are against Jews. We have synagogues being shot at coinciding with events in the Middle East. Sorry to pierce the safe little bubble you’ve built for yourself, but anti-zionism is the same as anti-semitism now

Post stats. Back up your statement. If you're going to call the Jews in Israel refusing to serve under the IDF when they are attacking civilians in Gaza and Lebanon anti-semetic, back up your statement. If you're going to call the Jews around the world speaking up and saying that Israel should stop bombing children and civilians, back up your statement about them being anti-semites. If you're going to defend an environmentalist getting bombed in Lebanon because she didn't want to leave her conservation work, back up your statements about why she deserved to die.

And if you live in Canada, here's the police stats about hate crimes there. It's not 2/3's btw, because anti-Islam hatecrime is also up there in the numbers, and so is anti-Asian.

It's hilarious that you say I live in an anti-semetic bubble, when the evidence actually points to YOU living in one. I'm glad others also called you out on it.

Starmer expected to resign on Monday and set out orderly exit

In basic terms: too left for the right, too right for the left. He appears to have pulled the Labour party more centre-right and abandoned a lot of the socialist and soc-dem positions for more neoliberal policies (though people have varying opinions if it's actually true.) That has made a lot of people unhappy, leading to a surge of Reform UK (the ultra-right party) and the Green Party (the left, environmental focused party). You can see the current trends in this Wikipedia article as well as the other parties in play.

The fact that this is a real image is infuriating

You know what the worst part of this is? This run of western fascism doesn't even have the aesthetics to make it palatable. That "seig heil" was so fucking uncoordinated it made the Australian break dancing lady look like a prima ballerina. Everyone is dressed like they bought clothes from the bargain bin at Ross. The decorations are giving mid-budget state fair.

We're gonna be ethnically cleansed by old, poorly dressed, unatheltic losers 😭

It's like interpreting a different language...

Explanation for anyone who needs it:

"My Shayla" is a meme on tiktok derived from a video of actor Tyrese Gibson crying on an Instagram Live about losing custody of his daughter Shayla. It is generally used as a sound for people missing a person, a space or time (eg. your childhood), or just thinking about their pets while they're at work. In this case, Tiktok is replacing Shayla for the OP.

Many US users of Tiktok post-ban have commented that their algorithm is less personalized and more geared towards outrage content. As such, the app no longer has the original vibes, and is now suspected as another delivery method of propaganda for the Trump administration. They are now seeking alternatives.

To express their disappointment, another user is saying they have had a "no bones day" since the return of the app. This refers to a famous pug named Noodle on Tiktok who's owner posted videos of them lifting Noodle up and seeing if Noodle will stand up on their own or fall over. If Noodles stood up, it was a high energy therefore "bones" day, and if Noodles fell over, it was a low energy "no bones day".

The final poster makes a humourous observation that without Tiktok, they would not have understood the previous conversation, and wishes "old Tiktok" to rest in peace.

Some additional nice commentary: Older observers have chimed into this conversation reminiscing about their own "lost" or enshittified websites and platforms (stumbleupon, addictinggames/other flash sites, Homestarrunner, Vine, MSN Messenger, MySpace, Encarta, Napsters, Last. fm, hobby forums, etc.) They have tried to assure younger people, who socialize more online than any other generation, that there will be other options and opportunities to gather in communities again (to mixed results).

Megathread: Charlie Kirk Shot at Utah Valley University Event

Interesting reflection of Lemmy demographics that I haven't seen much "But he has a wife and kids, we shouldn't be celebrating his death uwu" rhetoric. Apparently even the most staunch centrists here acknowledge the harm Toiler Paper USA has done to the US populace.

There's some insane laundering of his legacy going on now over on Reddit and through American news outlets though, as if he didn't call Paul Pelosi's attacker a "patriot" or dismiss school shootings as a necessary evil of the 2nd amendment. MSNBC even fired a political analyst over calling him "divisive."

I'm not one of those people who blame every ill of the world on the "neoliberal cucks" or whatever, but damn if they don't have a point regarding the corporate capture of the United States news media currently.
