Our Doula sucked with our first birth.

Was having problems getting the baby to come out. Wife is pushing, fully dilated. Her solution was to have me start sucking on my wife's nipples while she was in labor/pushing. My poor wife and that poor nurse.

But that was just awkward, the fucking medical doctor with "decades of birthing experience" was the fucking problem.

He finally comes in after hours of unproductive labor/pushing. Spent all of five minutes in the room before declaring the need for a C-Section. Off we go to an exhausted, traumatic, emergency C-Section.

Two years later. Second pregnancy, we go to a birthing center with a midwife.

Wife's in labor, same issue as last time starts. I immediately begin to panic because we are not at a hospital.

Midwife takes five seconds to evaluate, then adjusts how my wife is pushing. Situation is fixed and second daughter is born 10 minutes later.

Fuck that old ass, piece of shit, crank doctor who doesn't deserve his fucking title.

*The doula from our first birth was not our choice. She was a last minute stand in. Our original doula, who had practiced and coached with us, and helped us form a birthing plan, was unavailable when wife went in labor (two weeks early). Whomp whomp.

There was a brief moment, while I was going through SERE training, in the Navy; it was before we were "captured" but long enough that I hadn't eaten in a while. We were in the low mountains of SoCal, dry and hot. Whenever we would stop movement for a moment and take a seat, I could smell when an ant was on me.

I didn't recognize what the smell was at first until I saw an ant, after smelling it. I hooked him on my finger and brought him close to my nose and it was clear, he was the source.

I couldn't describe it very well though, not a common smell to me. Never experienced it since.

Maybe it was the combination of no food or bathing, and heightened stress. My SiL also went through SERE, says she has no idea what I was talking about, and just makes fun of me about it. But she's also the type of person who would lie about it, just to fuck with me.

My company has one every year. Heck, it is even just our regional department, so each department has its own.

It was 80's themed this year. They had live music and even a Back to the Future mocked up Delorian outside of the venue. A couple of free drink tickets, free buffet style food all around, a bunch of 80's arcade machines, and a pretty awesome raffle.

The company is also employee owned and not beholden to stockholder parasites.
