"Some games vanish. Not because they broke the law but because someone decided they shouldn’t exist."

Fuckin' ay, man. Fuckin' ay.

I love being able to help protest by playing... (checks notes) Helping the Hotties... 😉

I did not give a shit about NSFW games but I fucking hate cebsorship.

Go GoG, I'm going to buy one from them now!

... for the protest of course.

Hoooly shit I thought it was just one game. But hot damn they just gave all those games away for free. Just claim it once. I even thought it might be a scam cause of the url but its legit!

The URL is direct to gog tho? Unless you mean you didn't recognize gog as a reputable website

22

If I can buy a game on Gog I do - their lack of DRM, Linux ports, and prices just make me happy.

midwest.social

I'm not really interested in these games but this is pretty freaking awesome.

43

Postal 2 is actually a really good shitpost of a game. It looks like shit, it is unironically edgy and full of 14 year old levels of sexist, toilet humor. But god damn is it actually a good game. Like, a truly solid immersive sim shooter. And one of the only FPS games I know of that has guns and killing where you don't have to actually get involved and can beat the whole game as a casual observer of the chaos.

Plus you can piss on cops and make cops eat doughnuts filled with dogshit. 11/10.

Nice gesture, but keep in mind that this is the same GOG that was poised to release Devotion by RedCandleGames, only to renege on it because CCP imbeciles told them to. They are brave against censorship except when it involves actual conflict with censors. As soon as that happens, it's bootlick city.

And doing this with just 13 games? F95 catalogues 13 games... a day. I feel like GOG needs to up their game here.

4

Yeah but... A lot of games on F95Zone aren't on any storefront. Can't blame a storefront for only giving those things the storefront can.

Oh... Uh... A lot of what's on F95Zone is also either trash, abandoned, or abandoned trash.

Hunie Pop is a great game, despite being a Bejeweled clone. The mechanics make the "puzzles" a lot more fun (not just the tiddies)

Lame.

The main reason I never played Hunniepop is because of this. Story (yes, including erotica) and gameplay need to be integrated. They both work together.

I don't want to play a glorified VN with bejewelled tacked on.

Hunie Pop has a surprising amount of strategy involved.

10

HuniePop is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Out spawned so many clones because it was legitimately well made.

If it doesn't work from Germany use a VPN

16

They have a list of countries where games are not legal and cannot be bought/redeemed. Two stand out with almost all games: One is China. The second is Germany. I hate this shitty conservative self-righteous government and its prude regulations.

Yeah what's up with those lately? I've noticed them taking longer and longer to solve as well as being more difficult.

It's ReCaptcha owned by Google, if you're using a non-Chrome browser or an ad blocker it punishes you with tedium. Probably illegal to sabotage your competition but when did that ever stop them.

17

Supposedly they are more likely to give you captchas if there is high traffic, like every week when people try to claim their prime free games at the same time. If I get a captcha I just close out and try again later because you never know how many you are going to get.

3

Could it be AI getting better at solving them, so they need to be more complex? No idea how this works, so just a thought.

1
Dr. Moosereply
lemmy.world

Legit took me 20 minutes to just get this;

  • click redeem -> 5 captchas
  • click login, reset password -> 5 captchas
  • click reset password link -> 5 captchas
  • login -> 5 captchas
  • click redeem -> 5 captchas

Lmao and people say AI could ruin the web more

7
discuss.tchncs.de

I don't even get a captcha, just a straight up error, when I try to redeem the code (with adblock disabled).

2

Cancel and try to redeem again, I sometimes end up in the dumb loop for no reason as well.

1

For anyone having issues with the site, the giveaway code is freedomtobuygames which you might have better luck redeeming via Galaxy.

Is there a way to redeem in Galaxy? I did not see it

That's nice, but I'm not going to do so, because I'd rather support the developers of pornographic games financially. They already deal with enough flak without needing to give up sales revenue over this.

It also sounds like at least some of the stores are aiming to make the games available later with different payment processors, so I expect that they're likely to come back.

8
brianreply

I don't know the logistics behind some of these giveaways, but it doesn't have to mean that the devs are giving up their revenue. It could be gog just fronting the "cost", no?

27
talreply
lemmy.today

Could be. They don't say so on the page, though.

11
piefed.social

Yeah that lack of transparency is a bummer. Might be worth private messaging some of the devs listed here to inquire.

3

Presumably the devs have to agree to it. I dont think gog cn just decide "were going to give away this game we dont own for free"

3
Huginreply
lemmy.world

Most are older games with sequels or newer games by the developer. So they are probably hoping you like them and buy the sequel.

4
lemmy.zip

They're technically not anymore. They used to be good old games but when they shifted to include a large percentage of modern games they officially became just gog.

2
lemmy.world

Awesome but I'm not really into those games. I might try one or two just to support the cause.

5

Hunie pop is a legit good game. Its a fun puzzler and a toungue in cheek take on the genre.

2

Postal 2 is on the list if nothing else. Also I remember back when I was like 5 seeing it on an old TV video game focused channel where they went over it and then Hulk ultimate destruction.

1

Thank you kind stranger. I vehemently oppose censorship, especially by uninvolved 3rd parties, so this is precicely what I needed with all of this. Good list of games too.

4

You'll have to explain that. In my mind they have been a rather positive force all the time.

1
feddit.nu

i mean yeah... sure.

they could have decided to throw some lgbtq stuff in there, to shine a light on every queer person who just got thrown off of itch. but no, no risk of gog going woke.

Taking a stand against GoG for not offering the right free stuff is definitely... a decision.

42

I don't know if it's a slight against them. There's a whole shit load of stuff not included. Just because something wasn't doesn't mean it was a choice. It would have been nice, but we can't really know why there's none here.

Almost nobody did anything in response to the recent censorship, especially not if it could hurt them politically or financially. But GOG did something. Stop complaining, you should congratulate and support them on taking the risk for a good fight. I wish it wasn't, but they currently are a one of very few rays of light.

3

because it's only been like three days. itch is actively hunting for a new payment provider, there's a huge phone campaign ongoing, and collective shout is being slammed in the media. so people are doing something.
