Steam Next Fest Has Become A Massive Disaster And A Grim Look At The Future - The vibes are rotten this time around as Next Fest features thousands of AI slop demos

Valve’s chokehold over PC gaming continues to make me nervous, as the company seems completely uninterested in lifting a finger to actually improve Next Fest or stem the amount of garbage that fills Steam every day now.

The author is correct, there is a lot of garbage on Steam these days. I wish I could go back to the way Steam was in the 2010s, when there were only a few dozens new games each week to chose but they were mostly good. Now you have to spend too much time sorting through the crap.

I think it is not fair to put all the blame on Steam for the current situation. The Steam store is merely a reflection on how the gaming market is in 2026.

The issue is called "survivorship bias". The image you are looking at are from WW2 bomber planes that got damaged during missions but still made it home in one piece. The red dots are damage from enemy fire. The engineering task was to identify structural weak points and make the planes more resistant to enemy fire.

However the data on plane damage is grossly incomplete, because only those planes that survived are included in the data set. Those planes that took critical damage exploded and are not available for examination.

With that in mind, look at the diagram again. Those areas that do not have any reported damage are the actual structural weak points of the planes.

Or these thrusters could do the complete opposite and kill you. Since the US has no working regulatory agency this car is going to be dangerous as hell. If it will event exist.
