no rule infuriates me more

Ugh. I once heard someone say "I did a chat" as slang for "asking ChatGPT". It was a software vendor on a call regarding compatibility with our existing systems. We had concerns it wasn't. They insisted it was, because they "did a chat" and ChatGPT said it was.

It wasn't.

Still going strong after 1 year of use

Translated this from LinkedIn Speak to English:

I guilt-tripped my dad into buying a $1,000 knife set from my high school pyramid scheme back in 2005.

He let them rot in a drawer for two decades because he obviously didn't want them. Now I've inherited them in Florida, which is the only way I was ever going to get any value out of that scam.

I was 17 and predatory enough to close a pity sale on my own father for Vector Marketing. To everyone who correctly points out that Cutco is a joke: the knives actually haven't fallen apart yet, which is more than I can say for my dignity at the time.

Your first shitty sales job was probably a humiliating waste of time, but if you wait twenty years, you can try to spin it into a deep life lesson for engagement.

Well shit, Elon Musk's mom, Megatron Karen Musk, just told people to commit voter fraud

That wouldn't even fucking work, lol. You need, at minimum, a proof of address, and even if you spoofed 10 different names and addresses that each corresponded to 10 specific precincts, you're going to be given a provisional ballot, in which case your vote doesn't even get counted until it has been independently researched and verified by county workers, which if it succeeds, won't get counted till a week later.

God. I fucking hate that these idiots have a non-zero chance of winning.

A bit fucked up, isn't it?

Implying you can control or induce these hyperfixations in a productive way is disingenuous at best, measurably harmful at worst.

If you work in a job that can use use the chaos in a productive way that's great, but I'm willing to bet you still face abnormally high difficulty with general life tasks, and consistently struggle to enforce a work/life balance.

You're not helping people with ADHD by posting this. You're establishing an unattainable standard for people that are already doing everything in their power just to get by.

I was only gone for a day or two...

Until I joined Lemmy I had no idea how militant vegans could be. I sorta just assumed they were a different brand of vegetarian.

I'm not opposed to their ideaology in any way, but after reading the comments on a few posts that found their way into my feed... I had to block their communities. It didn't seem likely that I'd be reading any productive discourse there.

Free moneyrule glitch

We got a "bill" from a company like this that wanted ~300 bucks to "list your companies name on our website". That was it. You paid them, and you got added to the list of accountants that didn't read the fine print. Pretty clever, if obnoxious.

Job application hell

I hate this so much.

If you want to do a video interview, sure. But I'm not going to willingly give you a recording of myself without clear use terms.

How long are these files retained? Is this video subject to data privacy laws? Since they're requesting it be uploaded elsewhere, how many 3rd parties am I involving myself with by the end of this interview process?

Not to mention, we live in the era of deepfakes for voice and video. Do I have any gaurentee that this won't be used to train some AI model somewhere?

This level of hoop-jumping pre-employment should be made illegal on par with hazing laws. Not everyone can afford to be picky about potential employment.
