Public transport use soars in Montpellier a year after becoming free

Reply in thread

Your point is valid, if not well presented ; doesn't deserve the downvotes imho!

Making public transit free instead of making it better, and then use the fact that nobody uses it anyway to demantle it further, is a bad thing. I think Not Just Bikes touched on that in one of its videos.

But it's not always the case that free = bad. If it's already efficient and continues to improve, it can accelerate the growth of public transit. Luxembourg city is one example I know where it seems to be working, and a "good faith" effort.

Help with laptop buying decision

Yeah the proposition of Framework is what draws me to it. Price-wise it's more expensive than any other alternative, but it's still quite unique, and it ticks a lot of boxes that other don't (open-source firmware keyboard on a laptop ? whaaaaa) Your dual boot setup is interesting! How did you manage to get this setup? Is it just a matter of installing windows on the external storage and selecting it as priority when booting? It would be nice to have the option.

Help with laptop buying decision

Thanks for the advice! The 16 is probably as overkill as you say, but I've come to prefer a larger machine to work on.

I already have Proxmox installed on a secondhand mini-pc (one of those NUC / thin-client like office machines) and it's been a great way to (re)learn a few things indeed!

another good reason for a ergo split keyboard

Oh you have multiple!

Did you find there is a noise-level difference between the with/without steel backplates versions? Any recommandation / word of advise regarding falbatech's options ?

I currently use a TKL, and I do need the function keys relatively available (on a different layer is fine as long as I don't have to hold a modifier for it, but can toggle). I'm pretty set on the ergodox frankly, just not sure on the specifics. Not sure I'd want less keys than what it offers, and any key without an immediate function, I can find an IDE shortcut to use it for :D
