I wasted my time making this shader!

It sounds like you're talking about project management. My approach is to keep the next 4 or 5 tasks to be done written down in a backlog. Writing detailed tasks about what you're planning can actually be quite fun once you get stuck into it.

Doing it this way means I'm wearing my project manager hat while I'm managing my tasks. So I can see the big picture, take in the wider context, and make more informed decisions about how much effort is reasonable to spend on each task. Whereas if I try to think about the big picture stuff when I'm deep in a rabbit hole with my developer hat on I tend to have a skewed perspective.

That being said, often the most difficult thing is staying motivated. So if you've enjoyed the process, and you've made something this beautiful, and no doubt honed your skills along the way, then I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Keep up the good work!

The Trump administration asserts that a nearly 50-year-old law requiring the preservation of presidential records is unconstitutional. Historians warn important papers could be destroyed.

Just sharing a thought in case you're open to it.

Its great reading threads where people debate and counter each other. It can change and shape my opinions on all kinds of subjects. But when the threads just name calling it feels kind of gross, and is a real put off the opinions being shared.

You seem to know the subject, so I'll bet you've got some really interesting points you could share. I'd love to see a tidbit on how the founding fathers did this intentionally.

Any chance you could share a couple to help give some background to your point.

I'm tired of GTA

To be fair it earned the hype. GTA 5 was released in 2013, spanned three console generations and set a bunch of records along the way.

Will GTA 6 live up to it? Who knows. But in an age where people lose their minds over sporting events that repeat every year, GTA 6 has earned its spot as one of the most anticipated games ever made.

It's such a modern problem, clearly we need some new solutions. Maybe verified, none anonymous social media is at least part of that solution.

I'm not saying that all social media should be verified accounts. But if everything becomes bots run by EvilCorp, then there's nothing left for the rest of us.

As far as I know there's nothing about the Fediverse that protects us from EvilCorps bots

Every generation believing they are the first generation to be fed up with the way things are

Is there some workable definition of left and right? The terms have lost all meaning to me.

It like they're blanket terms for "everyone I agree with and everyone I disagree with", and the ambiguity makes it really divisive.

"You are X and I hate all people who are X". It seems bizarre that as the world has become more nuanced we've grown comfortable using such reductive terms.

(Not a criticism of your comment btw. I upvoted you. Just pondering this)

No, the UK’s Online Safety Act Doesn’t Make Children Safer Online

Has anyone got any half decent ideas for how to improve age verification? Obvs without this draconian shit.

I had a thought once about doing it with NFTs, where a company could independently verify you with certain metadata, like 'is human' or 'is over 18' etc. Then you get issued your token, and these sites can verify you without de-anoninising you.

Not sure if that's a naff idea, but would be interested to know if anyone's got anything better
