Seriously, why did I get an OLED?

Does it work though? For being the first film shot totally in Imax, The Odyssey was kind of dull to look at.

Maybe I don't have a subtle enough eye.
But still, there could have been some spectacle.
Like the scene where Zeus is destroying the ship, and for some reason he does it with rain and wind? And this was changed from the original story, where Zeus strikes with, obviously, a gigantic fucking lightning bolt. Is there some artistic reason for this that I missed? I know Nolan hates CGI, but come on.
I enjoyed the movie well enough, but it never wowed me.

Hardly a brag if it's full of lead. She'll just display the country, not use it.

The line cook quietly handed me this
My son pretty much eats his hot dogs this way. He eats a lot of foods this way. When he eats half a donut, it's usually the top half.

Anon starts to believe
When I got a lawn, I didn't do anything to it. It gets mowed every two weeks, but that's it. After a particularly nasty drought most of the grass died. A few months later, clover started popping up on its own. It's much better than grass, and now a bunny likes to visit us.

Perpetual stew vibes
Clean it, don't clean it, oil it, salt it, water it, "season it", season it by not cleaning it so your french toast gets all that good hamburger flavor from the night before...
I've read so many different ways to treat cast iron that at this point I'm convinced that it's all just superstition.

The Military Entertainment Complex:
The super hero genre is an individualist power fantasy. It's about giving power to individuals, whereas in real life power rests in groups and systems. That includes the power to effect social change.
It's an escapist response to living in an impossibly complicated world where we want to do good, but we feel powerless and unable to.
The story of a character organizing a series of protests wouldn't really benefit from that character having super powers. Using super powers (physical force) to push political beliefs is terrorism.
So the constraints of the genre mean that social messages have to exist alongside the A-plot power struggle. And they frequently do.
Black Panther is about abandoning isolationism and using a government's power and wealth to help people.
The Avengers have an unmissable theme of not supporting the military-industrial complex. Same with Iron Man.
Common Marvel villains include fascists, bigots, businessmen, and corrupt law enforcement, in addition to the madmen and evil gods.
I've seen this point made a few times, and it just reeks of someone backfilling a reason to hate something popular without actually spending a moment to, you know, watch that thing.

A confusing plot hole from Planet of the Apes
Did you even watch the movie? They explain it right away!
Someone "blew it up" and the resulting explosion launched it into space.

Do you know the answer?
B.
This is a multiple choice test. Once you eliminate three answers, you pick the fourth answer and move on to the next question. It can't be A, C, or D, for reasons that I understand. There's a non-zero chance that it's B for a reason that I don't understand.
If there is no correct answer, then there's no point hemming and hawing about it.
B. Final answer.

Amazon Accused of Hiding Worker's Death for a Week, Making Employees Keep Working as Corpse Lay on Floor
The title makes it sound like the body was there for a week.
The body was there for a few hours while they sent the employees back to work. Then it was removed. Then they hid it for a week.

Cast iron rule
Most of the care tips you see on cast iron are just superstition.
It's actually super easy to care for. You just scrub it with some salt and a boar bristle brush, dry it with a linen towel, then store it in a marble sepulchre facing North.

Analysis: Trump’s response to ‘No Kings’ marches only proved the protesters’ point
He’s far from the first major political figure to express disdain for voters they don’t agree with. Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, all had their moments.
Fuck CNN and this both-sides equivocation bullshit.
The way Trump speaks about and has always spoken about his opponents is beyond the pale. There's no comparison to anything that any other major politician in America has ever said. His brand of incivility is unprecedented, dangerous, and shouldn't be normalized.

I mean... even I did
My six year old daughter is playing Pokémon, and the other day we had this exchange:
"I beat another gym trainer: Misty!"
"That's awesome! Did she have a Starmie like I said she would?"
"Yes, but first she fought with a different Pokémon called a Pussyduck."
"... Psyduck. It's called a Psyduck."
"Yeah, ok."
"Say 'Psyduck'. Say it."

Ying and Yang
I can't not read them. My eyes read the subtitles against my will, and I miss whatever else is going on on the screen. Sometimes I spoil emotional moments because I read them first and miss the actor's delivery.
Other times subtitles are necessary, like if we're watching while the kids are asleep, and we need to keep the volume lower in case there's an action scene. Plus how else would I know if the music is "upbeat" or "somber" or whatever?

Pregnant Mother in Tennessee Denied Care for Being Unmarried
My wife was denied care in Texas because there was a possibility she could be pregnant. There were no signs she was pregnant or anything; there was just a non-zero chance, because we're sexually active, so they refused to perform a mammogram on her.
Never mind what could happen if she needed that mammogram, if it might catch something and save her life. Never mind the two kids at home who need her. A hypothetical fetus is more important than her medical care.
It took her weeks to get the appointment, and they just turned her away. She ended up taking a pregnancy test in a Whataburger bathroom. The state of women's healthcare in parts of the US is absolutely abhorrent.

Who's fucking carmelizing onions?
Remember, it takes at least 45 minutes to caramelize an onion. If you're doing it for less than 45 minutes, then you're just cooking it.
