World Cup fans frustrated by 'confusing and expensive' tipping in US

There are a few restaurants I have been to in the US that actually pay living wages and say tipping is optional. When the service is really good and you insist you want to tip they are generally over the moon.

Chuck Schumer struggles to meet the moment as Democrats call for leadership
Reply in thread
Schumer’s seat is only up in 2028 but if enough of his allies - preferably in safe seats - get primaried in 26 and the new progressives hold them in the general election (and hopefully win some back from GOP) I expect he will be forced out of leadership for the next Congress
It has to have enough shift to progressives or else he will take credit and stay on. He will also be ousted if Democrats lose again but in that scenario MAGA will continue unchecked for 2 more years at least

Depending on the intricacies of tax treaties you probably won’t pay much US tax after moving to a high taxation country. Relinquishing US citizenship when you are wealthy means paying the capital gains exit tax on your worldwide assets though so if you can afford good accountants, keeping both is probably easier

I tried Proton years ago and didn’t find it that useful (I can manage my own PGP keys, thank you).
Started switching to Fastmail seriously this month, after having had mail delivery problems with mailbox.org because of DNSSEC issues (they use a deprecated SHA1 signature still) - I have used migadu.com for a different domain for a few years as well but the webmail is a bit sluggish and the spam filter too aggressive, I might end up consolidating on Fastmail for now
Sure it’s Five Eyes so a slight regression from mailbox and migadu, but if it works well enough I might be able to get my family to move off of Gmail so a net win

I mostly agree with the list, but given Spotify platforms Joe Rogan and pays artists less than Apple Music, for music streaming I went the other way.
Looking forward to Bandwagon catching on, and help recording artists cut the middle men out

Elon Musk says backlash against his DOGE government cuts is hurting Tesla stock
What sucks is on the way down, between Trump’s tariff and preference for ICEs and foreign markets retaliating, he’ll take down the other US EV players. The ones run by what seems like genuinely nice people like Rivian and Lucid.
In the greater scheme of things it wouldn’t matter so much, but quite a shame.
