The Day My Smart Vacuum Turned Against Me
Reply in thread
People that take a bucket to the river for their water don't have to worry about plumbing leaks. Not having to spend time gathering water is worth the time of dealing with plumbing for me. I feel similarly towards having to do surface level vacuuming vs the time of dealing with firewalls.

Making the leap

I think it's pointing out that people will ask still themselves, "What was I waiting for?" even when there were valid reasons to wait. It reminds me of internalization or self-blame.

Does open source launchers help?
Samsung OneUI collects telemetry which they use for ad targeting and sharing with third parties along with other uses. They've also had multiple leaks in their software adjacent to OneUi.

System76 on Age Verification Laws

Individual sites will have their data leaked then aggregated by data brokers. Those data brokers both sell the aggregated data and experience data leaks themselves. The data keeps moving from actor to actor while the aggregation is continued until eventually finding it's way into a public repo or security researcher data sets.

What is the best alternative to google maps, not for navigation, but for business discoverability and reviews?
I'm interested in the answer to this as well. I navigate exclusively with comaps but I still have to keep google maps to discover restaurants, hotels and attractions.

Why many Americans are turning to AI for health advice, according to recent polls
America healthcare is another factory to make money for the rich and externalize their costs to the poor. It doesn't surprise me people try to route around it at any chance they get.

This may be the experience at some psych wards but not all. I would learn as much about the specifc ward as possible before making decisions.

Tech worker confidence falls faster than any other industry, survey finds
I had a team of friends and mentors. Then the owner decides to return to office, no exceptions. Now my friends and mentors have moved on. No one that left has been replaced but the word went from "no one will be replaced with AI" to "we're trying out AI instead of filling those positions". I and the people I care about are disposable to this whole industry.

Is there a way to fix the slow writing speeds on USB sticks?
Do you think you may be using USB sticks with a small SLC cache? If this is the case I would expect the transfer to be fast until the cache fills up then it would slow down to the speed of the rest of the NAND for remainder of the transfer. You wouldn't experience the slow down unless you were transferring files larger than the cache. This could explain why the issue has followed you across so many computers.
More affordable USB sticks may have cache sizes of 1 - 2 GB. I've seen high performance models available with 64GB caches.
If this is the cause of your issue, using a USB stick with a larger cache would be a solution.

I was thinking the context of the boycott in the title implied an issue with her promise. I added more from the announcement to the post.

Whats a privacy friendly way of learning a new language?

Wouldn't this require sharing information with the school that organizes the course and any vendors that support them? Schools, payment processors and student information systems eventually sell or leak data.

The headline claims "All RDP Scanning on the Internet" but the article says they only had data from their observation grid, not the entire internet.
