It is purely a numbers game. Risk vs Risk. Any meal you eat has the possibility of you ending up in hospital. This happened to me, developing a sudden allergy to food I ate before with no problems. It does not stop me eating though 😉

Allergic reaction is your greatest risk with a vaccine. And even there you will the chances slim for such a reaction. We simply take that risk for the vaccine in question, take its effectiveness into account and compare that to the risks of getting the decease in question.

I would not wish long covid on my worst enemy. The never ending brain fog, the tiredness that simply does not go away, the lack of taste for food. It really sucks the joy out of living. So if a vaccine can prevent that, and help shield those around you, that you may infect, I think the risk of side effects are more than justified and worth taking.

UK motorcycling question

Ask 10 riders and you will get 10 answers. For cummuting in Cape Town, which has some of the worst traffic in the world and wet UK like rainy winters, I would look for something with a fairing, good fuel consumption and a bit of power, to stay out of trouble.

The Honda NC750X was high on my list the last time I evaluated options. The high seating position makes lane splitting easy, the fuel consumption was amazing. The power there, but not unmanageable.

What did I do, well I bought a BMW K1300R with too much power, no fairing and a ridiculous amount of grins per kilometre.

So ride what makes you happy, just stay safe within your limits.

Holidays project time

Just got a lifting jack to properly lift the old K100, getting ready to remove the gearbox and swing arm to get at the broken starter clutch behind thr rear engine cover. Fabricobbled a pank to support the engine on the jack yesterday.

As a rescent convert coming from Ubuntu to cachy os, the update cadence of an arch ibased distro, is something to get used to. It is also one of the main reasons behind experimenting with it. I am.using ubutntu and debian for work related workloads, where stabiloty is more important than having.the latest software. For personal use and playing around, cachy has been awesome. You control your own cadence.with updates. I am doing weekly at the moment, or whenever I need some new piece of software.
