We can finally see the offending starter gear, the sprag clutch lives on the alternator's shaft, but with the starter out I can now feel that the starter drive gear turns freely in both directions. Tomorrow the gearbox and rear engine cover will come off and then I should have the offending part in hand.

Finally bought a proper jack so that things are a little less skeychy when I need to work. Universals on the drive shaft is notchy and leeking. First of many things needing attention. The starter clutch is the next, once I remove the swingarm and gearbox. The frame has about 300k kms on it. No way to know for sure. 2nd engine, so no idea as to how many ks that has.

Been working on my speed shifting. Damn it feels good when you hit the rpms right and you hop the GB up and dont lose momentum.

Weeeelll, i installed some new side markers on the GS this weekend. Pulled the badges, mounted everything, wired it up, and test good. Decide Saturday gonna wash the bike. Hit it with the hose, wash it up, hit it with the armor all, leather conditioner, etc. fire it up, and it wont idle. Long story short, tracked it to the TPS harness from the Power Commander. When i had the clutch done at the dealer, they seemed to have caught the harness in the clamp ring of the throttle body. A little water on the wire and no more workey right. Pulled the clamp and harness. Soldered a splice in and back up and running. I was freaking out though for sure saturday morning.

At least it isnt safety related. Based on the article it seems to be emissions.

Lost my second primary coil within a year. May have to go OEM instead of ebay.

Stopped to get coffe on my way to work, as usual. Caught a guy i have ran i to a couple times, though he is usually trailering in his bike so he can ride home. It was a treat to see him riding in this morning :)

Got out this weekend for breakfast. Stuck behind skme trucks the whole way, but meh.

Ok, its been 110 plus for awhile in my area. My bike is parked outside, in shade, but still warm by the time i start home. I have noticed my front brake is softer after the approximate 30 mins on the highway. I started to look into high temp brake fluid, and came across motul 700 (i attached wrong image, i absolutely mean 700. Not 600 or 660.) I am thinking of dumping that in when i do my next oil change. Does anyone else have experience with higher temp brake fluids? Kinda curious if it will work better in the summer and winter.

Reddit refugee (and digg before that). I love my 07 1200gs, and when i came over to lemmy i didnt see a motorrad community. So i made one.
