Former Obama Admin Official Says It's Time To Consider Military Strikes on Chinese Data Centers to Prevent Them From Reaching AGI
I hope China's considering the same for the US. Mutually assured AI destruction.

Lawsuit: Amazon refused to give pregnant workers bathroom breaks and chairs
What's with America and refusing its workers basic comfort while they work? Does it really not know how to decouple slavery from paid labor?

My initial thought. I'm sick of seeing the same desperate headline repeated ad nauseum. Either give me the news that he croaked, or I'm gonna stay assuming he'll run in 2028, with a worryingly non-zero chance of winning. And he will continue not-dying throughout the remainder of that term.

These days, it's used for emphasis to make sure you're properly upset about it. Try using it in a context where age doesn't matter, and you see how much implied severity it can add.
"I saw you speaking to a girl. What's up with that?"
vs
"I saw you speaking to an underage girl. What's up with that?"
One of them sounds much more like a crime.

I always find it odd how people take this kinda thing as an insult. "I can't read what you wrote because it has too many errors" is, like, one of the first things you encounter when learning to write. It's just a simple statement of fact. Cool it.

The weirdest thing about American culture
Reply in thread
I fruck out about it the first 10 or so times I found out about these things, but it doesn't hit the same after a while. This is just what the US is. I vote, I speak my mind, I engage in a little domestic terrorism, but ultimately I don't have enough power to change things in my lifetime. I'm crossing my fingers for an organized network of assassins with a conscience to materialize.

Very true
Reply in thread
I dunno how true your claim is. I've seen a lot of UAP footage, as well as tons of claims from people in passing that they've seen something. Hell, my partner has a couple stories of her own.
I can't speak on the legitimacy of the footage or claims (I tend to assume it's bullshit, but I've an open mind), but I can say there was a period of time where I saw 10s of reports a week, oftentimes the same event being documented by different people from multiple angles. I'm assuming you must be referring to official reports or something, but unofficial reports are still reports, so...

"If I regret not having children, I’m the only one who has to bear that pain. But if I regret having children, I’m no longer the only one who bears the consequences"
Reply in thread
Uh, I see this as a reaction to people who say "what If you regret it?" to people who don't want kids. The answer is simply "I can live with that. The inverse is harder to live with."
Which is...pretty reasonable? You're the one injecting paralyzing fear into the situation.
