Is gaming better as a kid or an adult?

Reply in thread

I remember Cyberpunk 2077 sucking me into its world, I sometimes walked slowly through the streets taking in sights and sounds.

I had that all the time as a kid, Monkey Island, Betrayal at Krondor, you name it. For children, like you said, everything is new and a fantastic experience, give it enough years and it becomes not stale, but normal.

Now, many years later it has become rare. But when it happens it's awesome again.

That's also my reason for not being excited over GTA 6. It will never live up to feeling of 3, Vice City or San Andreas, even 4. Those times are over for me. 5 was fun, but nothing special anymore.

Reddit hat Altersverifikation in Deutschland eingeführt

Reply in thread

Epic Games unveils Launcher V2 in re-attempt to topple Steam, says redesigned storefront is up to 6.5x faster — promises player profiles, user reviews, universal controller support, and much more

I don't think they would leave. They would not risk loosing their sales on the biggest platform on PC. Was it EA or Ubisoft that tried to only release on their own platform? Their sales plummeted, and not long after they crawled back.

I just don't want to pay 60 bucks for something I could loose in an instant (account hack, company goes out of business etc). It's pure anti consumer.

Take that YouTube

It's funny. Before this crackdown none of my co-workers used adblockers. To install an add-on was too much hassle. They just watched the ads.

Now suddenly they became interested after hearing about them again, and almost all are running Firefox with ublock origin now.

YouTube should have just kept quiet, I don't believe they are better off now more than before.

Why Germans put up with snail-speed internet

In the 80s there was a plan to roll out fiber optic throughout the country. But media mogul Leo Kirch lobbied for normal cable connections because he wanted his cable network TV to take off. Chancellor Helmut Kohl, his buddy, of course did what he was asked to.

So that today we could have fiber nationwide, but thanks to lobbying we don't. Thanks to Helmut Kohl and Leo Kirch.

Wonderful (a 1912 comic)

I'm still sometimes amazed of our modern technology while my little ones more or less ignore it. But when I showed them a telefone with a dial and a cable and told them that I could not move it around they would not believe me at first.

Like the man in the comic said, "uncanny".

Legendary Half-Life YouTuber plans class-action lawsuit against Ubisoft for killing The Crew

I got the game for free, and I've been playing it since every three months for a few days, just driving around. I bought the sequel, but it sucked.

I never used the multiplayer component, I treated it like a single player game. And now it's going to vanish? This whole world? They can't be serious. This isn't a multiplayer only title, it's single player with an optional mp stacked upon it. At least put an offline patch out... Assholes!

But that's the crux with only buying licenses. Or games with always online requirements. I hope fans find a way to crack the online code!!
